This second switch can be normally open, normally closed or offering a changeover facility such as headlamp dip. They are a very useful safety device to have on high wattage circuits on your car. If you are running with the lights, wipers, heater etc. on it is probable that your Lucas dynamo is struggling to keep the battery properly charged for the next time you want to start the engine. Modern cars overcome this by using an alternator to meet the larger electrical demand. Wire +44 (0) 1885 488 488 Wire It is important that correct wire sizes and are used for linking together all the electrical equipment on your car. The wire size for any circuit is determined by a combination of factors, including the length of the wire, the current flowing and the permissible voltage drop. If the wire is too thin it can cause a serious voltage drop from one end of the wire to the other, together with overheating. To ensure reliability, it is most important that correctly rated wires are used for all circuits.
