Adapted Kitchen More and more specifications require a kitchen to be adapted rather than a new kitchen installed. This could be due to budgetary restraints or simply the user is happy with the their existing kitchen but requires certain elements adapted to be more in line with their present circumstance. The simple replacement of the sink and/or hob with a manual or electric rise and fall worktop gives far more flexibility and access for a wheelchair user. Another advantage of having an adapted kitchen would be on a large project where a certain amount of properties are to be designed for special needs users. In this instance the kitchen range chosen could be offered for both able-bodied or special needs users and both kitchens would look identical! Fully Adapted Kitchen Our Fully Adapted Kitchens for the special needs user are designed for those that require a high degree of special features and individuality in style. We offer four different ranges with 5 door colours in each range and a huge choice of cabinets and accessories, sinks, taps, worktops, appliances, height adjustable worktops and wall units. For the first time a functional and practical kitchen designed with special needs users in mind can look like any other kitchen. Accompanying any level of kitchen is the need for suitable ancillary products. These include height adjustable frames which can raise and lower worktops or units when operated manually or electrically by the user as well as specialised appliances that feature benefits such as front control hobs and side opening ovens. Service The key to good service is communication. We believe that this starts once an enquiry has been received and we follow this through until the kitchen is in full operational use. The process starts with a visit from one of our Phlexicare technical sales executives who operate nationally. All N&C Phlexicare technical sales executives are specially trained and able to offer advice and recommendations. A typical meeting may involve many different individuals whether they be architects, contractors, occupational therapists or end user. Our Phlexicare representatives will answer any queries and carry out a thorough site survey. Design Once the survey has been completed, our design team at Head Office will generate an electronic floor plan using computer aided design (CAD) along with a detailed quotation. These will then be sent to the interested parties. Any subsequent alterations or changes can then be made, and final plans and costs be completed. Fully Rigid Kitchen Cabinet Specification Carcase Material MFC used is certified to the European Formaldehyde Emission Standard E1 All panels have been tested to BS476 Part 7, surface spread of flame and achieves class 2 All of the melamine faced 18mm particle board achieves BS5669 with a density of 680kg/m3 The panels achieve a bending strength of 220kg/m3 Front edge end panels are edged and achieve BS3962 The thickness of the melamine edging used is 0.30 thick and protected surfaces are tested to BS3962 In colour co-ordinated carcases the front is edged in a matching strip Unit Construction The units are glued and dowelled with 6mm x 30mm wooden dowels to make a solid pre-assembled 18mm box. Drawer System White Vanilla Calais Oak Maple Beech Walnut Wenge The drawers are a Blum Metabox construction which incorporates a drawer bottom and back made from 18mm particleboard. Drawer sides are enamelled steel and incorporate steel runners with nylon stops, which are self-closing from 60mm. All drawer boxes are manufactured in accordance with BS4875 (1985): Part 7 Level 4. All our kitchens can be upgraded to include soft close doors and drawers. Hinges Units are supplied with Blum 170 hinges with a self closing action and allow four-way adjustment. The hinges meet the strength requirements of BS4875 (1985): Part 7 Level 4 and BS6222 Part 2 (1992) Level H. Hinge holes only occur where hinges are required so no unsightly hinge holes can be found on the carcase. Plinth and Legs 2400mm length and 300mm high plinth supplied and cut according to requirement. Plastic adjustable legs with two extensions give the option to vary the base unit between 145mm and 300mm from the floor. The legs push into flanges and screwed into the bottom of all base units and are recessed to allow for wheelchair access near units. Wall Hanging Brackets The wall hanging brackets are connected and fully adjustable. They are made from rolled steel and achieve DIN code 68840 with a loading capacity of 130kg per pair. Shelves All shelves are manufactured from the same materials and to the same standards as the cabinet itself.
