E-ChainSystems Installation instruction for harnessed E-Chains with more than one coil
register igus E-ChainSystems installation instruction for harnessed E-Chains with more than one coil.
E-Chain delivory condition For details see igus interior shelving Wooden drum do not...!! E-Chain coils and cables Handles Transportation lock 4
E-Chain arrangement on drum General coil arrangement E-Chain is divided in two or more coils, to reduce the outer diameter on the drum. Coils have to be connected during installation. Drum Cable extra length Connector Fixed point Coil 2 Coil 1 Mooving end three links turned Cable extra length 6

Alternative E-Chain installation with crane Use stop docks to avoid lateral movement!!! 12 plastics for longer life
Unroll cable extra length Detach the cable bundle on coil 1 Use the handles to turn and secure the drum carefully. Place the cables for example on a pallet and protect them against damages. Stop when cables enter the chain. Handles Place cables on a pallet. They have to be free moveable. 14
Start to unroll first coil Detach fixed end of the E-Chain on the drum. Remove all tie wraps around the cables near the end of the chain, and make sure that the individual cables are free to slide into or out of the E-Chain. Failure: to do so may cause damage to the cables!!! Remove tie wraps. Cables have to be free moveable. 16
Unroll first coil / flip fixed end Guide the fixed point carefully into the trough. Flip this end at the fixation position and roll the coil 1 carefully into the trough. 18
Procede unrolling coil If necessary: Release cable into the E-Chain to avoid damages. Check cable tension during unrolling. For details see igus interior shelving 1. Unroll first coil 2. Check cable tension 3. If necessary release cable into the E-Chain! Attention: cables move during unrolling procedure! It might be necessary to release/move cable into the E-Chain to avoid damages. 20 Good To loose To tight
Coil connection Move the drum sidewards to align coil 2 with the trough. Coil 1 and 2 have a temporary connection with pull wires and special parts to fix the length. Remove pull wires and special parts and install the connector. Remove fixation screws on coil 2 and unroll a few meters. 22 plastics for longer life
Connect coil 1 and 2! Install the connector between coil 1 and 2 and make sure that the cables are not twisted. Lift end of coil 1 and beginning of coil 2. Connector Insert connector from below. Put down coil 1 and 2 and insert bars. Insert separators according to cable arrangement. 24
Unroll coil 2, 3 until E-Chain end Depending on E-Chain length some E-Chains have two or more coils. Then detach fixed point mounting bracket and guide the E-Chain fully into the guiding trough. Repeat unrolling procedure until you reach the E-Chain end. Unroll cables extra length carefully and protect them against damages. E-Chain moving end Detach mounting brackets Cable extra length 26 plastics for longer life
Fix E-Chain at fixed point Guide the E-Chain fully into the guiding trough Knock out the upper bushings. Attach the E-Chain to the fixed point. max. gap 3 Knock out the upper bushing during installation. Spare cable loop Fixation Screws 28
