OVERVIEW Now there s a hybrid that makes business sense. The revolutionary Cat 336E Hybrid Excavator uses patented hybrid hydraulic technology to collect, store and release energy during machine operation. This means the harder it works, the more you save. > Hybrid hydraulic technology delivers excellent power density. It s a simple, robust system that can deliver lower owning and operating costs. * > Because the system works independently, the machine will continue to operate normally in the event of a hybrid hydraulics system failure. > The 336E H is the product of five years of development, refinement and customer testing in the harshest conditions. It s proven to deliver no loss in performance, with dramatically increased efficiency from day one. * *When compared to the Cat 336E and Cat 336D (Tier 2 and Tier 3).
HOW the hybrid will work for you The largest size class hybrid excavator means more power to get jobs done. Hybrid hydraulic technology delivers excellent power density. Cat hybrid hydraulic technology operates without any compromise in power or performance.* Reduces O&O costs by burning less fuel. Generates lower cab and spectator sound.* Requires no new or unique skills to operate or service. Leverages the scale of standard Cat components to keep costs down and maximise uptime. Vehicle operates even if the hybrid hydraulic swing system doesn t. Produces fewer regulated engine emissions.* *When compared to the Cat 336E and Cat 336D (Tier 2 and Tier 3).
Technology REDEFINED Patented Cat hybrid hydraulic technology in the 336E Hybrid is simple, reliable and cost effective, and can reduce your cost per ton. The system combines three proven technologies working in concert to achieve fuel savings: * > Conserve fuel with engine power management via the Cat Electronic Standardised Programmable (ESP) pump, which smoothly transitions between the hydraulic hybrid power sources, engine and accumulator. > Optimise performance using restriction management via the patented Cat Adaptive Control System (ACS) valve, which intelligently manages restrictions and flows to seamlessly control machine motion with no loss of power, and to ensure operators experience no difference in control, hydraulic power or lift capability. > Reuse energy via the hydraulic hybrid swing system, which captures the excavator s upper structure swing brake energy in accumulators, and then releases the energy during swing acceleration. *When compared to the Cat 336E and Cat 336D (Tier 2 and Tier 3).
Efficiency REDEFINED THE CAT 336E H DELIVERS UP TO 50% Greater Fuel Efficiency * THE CAT 336E H DELIVERS UP TO 25% LOWER Fuel CONSUMPTION than the Cat 336E and 336D (Tier 2) THE CAT 336E H DELIVERS UP TO 33% LOWER Fuel CONSUMPTION than the Cat 336D (Tier 3) FUEL *Tons/litre compared to 336D (Tier 3). Additional factors, such as operator skill and jobsite conditions can also affect fuel efficiency. Burning less fuel means lower emissions
Power REDEFINED The 336E Hybrid is powered by the Cat C9.3 ACERT U.S. EPA Tier 4 Interim engine. This is the same reliable and proven engine as built in to the 336E, but with some important refinements. > The engine uses isochronous control to manage pump and engine speed at a constant 1500 rpm. The engine is also equipped with three power options to control revs: High Power, Standard, and Economy Mode. Each mode helps keep fuel consumption appropriate for use. > The engine is capable of running on Bio Fuel up to B20 (bio fuel 20 percent mixture). > Two other features help further reduce fuel consumption and emissions: On-Demand Engine Power reduces rpm and keeps speed low during light loading and idling to help save fuel. It automatically adjusts power up when it senses a heavier load. Engine Idle Shutdown automatically shuts the engine off when idling for more than a specified amount of time.
PERFORMANCE REDEFINED (Owners) sacrifice nothing in terms of performance, power, force, speed or production. Once more, the owning and operating costs for the 336E H can be lower than the standard machine. That s the value customers expect from Cat excavators. Ken Gray, Global Product Manager, Large Hydraulic Excavators, Excavation Division, Caterpillar INC. Following exhaustive comparative testing by Caterpillar engineers, the Cat 336E Hybrid matches the performance of the standard Cat 336E and exceeds the performance of the 336D. However it can deliver considerable fuel savings over both machines up to 33% in the case of the 336D (Tier 3). * Findings are validated by ongoing customer testing. > The front linkage pins of the 336E H are the same diameter as the 336D and 336E. > Buckets and work tools that can be utilised on the 336D and 336E can be used on the hybrid. *Tons/litre compared to 336D (Tier 3). Additional factors, such as operator skill and jobsite conditions can also affect fuel efficiency.
Reliability REDEFINED The Cat 336E Hybrid builds upon the proven success of the Cat 336E. Plus, because the system works independently, the machine will continue to operate normally in the unlikely event of a hybrid hydraulics system failure. > The 336E H is built to deliver the same durability and reliability that customers expect from all Cat machines. > The Cat 336E H is also supported on the ground by the highly trained Cat dealer support network, who are fully equipped to successfully maintain its operation. > No special equipment is needed for technicians to service the 336E H, as standard hydraulic components are used.
Safety, sustainability and comfort REDEFINED Hybrid operators get the same superior safety and comfort of the proven 336E platform. Like the 336E, the hybrid shares the same reinforced upper frame to increase lifting capacity and same Roll Over Protective Structure (ROPS) cab. * > Lower operating 1500rpm contributes to lower noise levels (than both 336E and 336D) inside and outside the cab which reduces noise, vibration and heat. > Operators work with the comfort of automatic climate control, an air suspension, heated and cooled seat, as well as using a Hi Res LCD monitor with rear-view camera display. > The 336E H meets the U.S. EPA Tier 4 Interim emissions standards and because it burns less fuel, anticipated owning and operating costs ought to be lower when compared to the 336E. *ROPS cab meets ISO 12117-2:2008
Your Bottom Line REDEFINED The 336E Hybrid is built to deliver increased business efficiency. Owning and operating costs can be substantially reduced due to lower fuel consumption, without any compromise in power and productivity. Caterpillar s goal with the hybrid was to find a solution to meet your business goals more efficiently, more productively and more costeffectively.
