AeroBAR Enclosed Conductor Bar System AeroBAR provides many of the advantages of Aero-Motive s standard Pow-R- Feed system at a cost competitive with single hard bar systems.the continuous contact, totally enclosed, multi-conductor system is designed for use in many mobile electrification applications including hoists and overhead cranes. Continuous Conductor Strips Flexible copper conductors deliver reliable, trouble-free power to mobile equipment with up to 1700 feet without joints. Joint free design ensures longer brush life, reduced signal interference and minimal voltage drop. Safety No exposed live electrical parts which can be accidentally touched or bumped with a ladder or tool. No thermal expansion problems "Free Floating" design allows for the various expansion rates of the conductors, housing and mounting. Each element moves independently of each other, eliminating the distortion and/or open joints experienced with conventional fixed bar systems. Typical AeroBAR Systems 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Joints in single bar systems (right) can corrode due to moisture and capillary action. Get up to 5 conductors in a space half as wide as 3 single bars. The system can be mounted to existing support brackets at 5 ft. intervals. Multiple trolleys can be used to meet higher amp requirements or to power additional equipment. Travel speed up to 329 ft/min. Optional ball bearing wheels are available. Top wheels can also be added to the trolley. Indoor and outdoor application Galvanized and zinc plated hardware make the system suitable for outdoor use. Optional sealing strips protect the contacts from dust and humidity. Stainless steel components are also available for tough environments Simple installation and flexibility The single housing makes it possible to install AeroBAR in less than half the time required of single bar systems. If power requirements change in the future, higher capacity conductor strips can be substituted without removing the existing housing. 5 ABH10 STANDARD HOUSING The ABH10 housing is available for operating temperatures ranging from -30 C to 60 C (-22 F to 140 F) and standard lengths of 10 feet. An anti-reversing rib A is incorporated in the profile, which ensures that the collector trolley can only be installed in one direction, preventing accidental cross-phasing. The housing is bright orange in color for high visibility and has a black stripe B on one side to ensure proper alignment of the anti-reversing rib. Optional sealing strips provide a high degree of protection. 2 AB400K FIXED POINT CLAMP Each system should be secured to the support structure adjacent to the electrical feed point via a fixed point clamp. The system is allowed to expand freely from this position. When a line feed is used, a fixed point clamp is positioned on each side of the feed box. One is required for End Feed system, and two are required for Line Feed systems. AB400K Galvanized steel ABS400K Stainless steel (AISI 304) for corrosive environments. 2.90 3.26 3 AB300K JOINT CLAMP The housing sections are connected by means of the joint clamp. The joint clamps are provided with angle returns which grip the housing while aligning the clamp halves, thus providing a quick means of ensuring a secure joint. AT50 insulating tape must be used with joint clamps. AB300K Galvanized steel for corrosion protection. ABS300K Stainless steel (AISI 304) for corrosive environments. All brackets and clamps are suitable for high temperature systems. 2.26 2.26 3.94 3.94 3.26 AT50 INSULATING TAPE Ensures a permanent seal around the housing joints prior to installation of the joint clamps. This tape is required on all installations, both indoor and outdoor. Each No. AT50 roll of tape is 10 meters long and is enough to seal 40 joints. See page 8 for system installation tools. Page 3
4 AB500K SLIDING HANGER BRACKET Sliding hangers are used to support the conductor housings. The hangers are designed with rounded edges and sufficient clearance to allow the free expansion of the system due to temperature changes. The hanger is suspended via a 10 2.92 mm bolt. The bolt is provided with additional locking nuts for simple vertical alignment of the system. Two required for each 50 or 80 amp housing section. Three required 3.04 for each 125 amp sections. AB500K for standard galvanized or ABS500K for stainless steel 2.32 1.26 6 ABHEC END CAP End cap is used to seal off the open ends of an AeroBAR system. NOTE: A joint clamp AB300K is required to attach the end cap to the conductor housing. One is required for end feed systems and two are required for line feed systems. 12.0 4400USB UNIVERSAL SUPPORT BRACKET Galvanized steel brackets are used to support the fixedpoint clamp and sliding clamps. They are provided with special sliding clamp assemblies which make it possible to mount to a wide range of I-beams without welding or drilling. The sliding clamp feature also provides simple horizontal alignment of the AeroBAR system. ABSS FLEXIBLE SEALING STRIPS ABSS (Neoprene Sealing Strip) The sealing strips are used to seal dirt, moisture and corrosive materials out of the ABH housing. They are recommended for outdoor installations. The collector trolley opens and closes the sealing strips while traversing. The sealing strips are sold in continuous lengths. Specify twice the length of the AeroBAR system when ordering. ABSSH (Hypalon) Same as ABSS but for applications requiring higher resistance to acids. ABSSH seals are used in environments such as galvanizing plants. Special Pressurized Systems For extremely dirty or corrosive atmospheres, clean and dry low pressure compressed air can be introduced into the housing at multiple points (about every 10 feet) to prevent the entrance of foreign material. ABIU INSPECTION UNIT The inspection unit may be used on installations where inspection of the collector trolley is not possible by removing an end cap or end feed cove. They are also used when several collector trolleys are operating in one system, or when a specific location for inspection is necessary. They may also be needed on long systems exceeding maximum lengths with standard joint clamps as per chart on page 6. Expansion joints create small independently expanding sections, each with its own fixed point clamp, and installed so the expansion of that section is absorbed by gap set at this special joint. Contact Aero-Motive for proper specification. Must use double or triple gang trolley on systems with expansion joints. ABEJ with galvanized hardware ABSEJ with stainless steel hardware Kits include the expansion joint and a Fixed Point Clamp. Must use an ABTDX or ABTTX trolley; no single gang ABTSX allowed. Page 5
