2 Approval Important: Before operating the device for the first time, read the following items carefully and follow them. 2.1 Explosion Protection The has been designed for the flow measurement of flammable liquids in Classes AI and AIII on tank trucks. The must not be used for flow measurement in vapour recovery systems or for the discharge of fuel using feed pumps. The electronics have been certified by KEMA. EEx ia IIB T4; KEMA No. Ex-95.D.1282 X 2.2 Electromagnetic Compatibility The conforms to the law regarding electromagnetic compatibility and is labelled with the CE symbol. 2.3 Especially Important The measurement of gases, e.g. in vapour recovery systems, is prohibited. The must not be used for the discharge of fuel using a feed pump. The contains precision, high quality components. Therefore, mechanical influences which do not result from operation (e.g. through being dropped) must be avoided. The must only be installed on the vehicle using the holder specified by the manufacturer. Measurements which are subject to mandatory W&M certification must not be carried out with this device. Descr. No.: DOK-347E Rev.: 1.01 KH / Date: 19.10.99 Page 2-1
2.4 Intended Use The has been constructed solely for the volume measurement of low-viscosity mineral oils. The device is not intended for applications other than this; the manufacturer cannot be held liable for any resulting losses in this respect. The operating, servicing and maintenance conditions as defined by the manufacturer are included in the scope of intended use. The may only be used, serviced and maintained by persons who are familiar with the device and have been appropriately instructed about the hazards involved. Unauthorised modifications to the device exclude any liability on the part of the manufacturer for any resulting losses. 2.5 General Application Information The has been developed so that the product quantity discharged can also be determined on tank trucks without measurement systems. This means that the complete content of tank compartments does not need to be discharged. The discharged quantity can be determined conforming to the requirements. However, with measurement operation it must be taken into account that the is operated without a gas extractor, i.e. any air in the product is also metered with it. 2.5.1 Measurement at a Splitted Tank Compartment If a tank compartment must be splitted, we recommend to start the measurement on a full tank. This is the only way to get the exact value, cause the counts the pure product without any enhancement of air. So You get the use of the high precision of. The overleaped rest in the compartment can be investigated by the difference between the full-tank-quantity and the discharge-quantity. But if You start the measurement at the overleaped rest to empty, so You will get a big failure in the counted quantity, cause the product will be enhanced with a lot of air at the end. That will spoil the precision of the measurement significantly. Page 2-2 Rev.: 1.01 KH / Date: 19.10.99 Descr. No.: DOK-347E
3 Operation 3.1 Functional Principle of the The liquid flowing through the impeller-type meter sets the impeller rotating. The number of impeller revolutions is proportional to the flow volume. The rotating movement of the impeller blades is transferred without contact by a magnetoinductive sensor. These signals are evaluated by a special electronic system and shown on a display. The momentary flow rate in l/min and the total discharged volume in litres can be displayed. In addition a non-resettable totaliser is provided. 3.2 Initial Operation The is exported to foreign countries without any coupling. Suitable couplings must be mounted or ordered optionally. The setting of the appropriate SET-UP parameters has been carried out by the manufacturer. Important: Before operating the device for the first time, read the instructions for use carefully and follow them. 3.3 Measurement Operation 3.3.1 Coupling/ Uncoupling Mount the directly at the discharge coupling on the tank truck. Insert the optional coupling of the into the coupling on the tank truck. Orientate the so that the display can be read easily from above. Then clamp and lock the optional coupling to the other end of the. (See above.) Make sure that the gaskets in the truck couplings are in good condition. This is the only way to ensure that no leakage occurs in operation. Descr. No.: DOK-347E Rev.: 1.01 KH / Date: 19.10.99 Page 3-3
3.3.2 Controls All the required parameters on the are set in-house. For operation only the display panel and the three keys on the operating panel are relevant. 3.3.2.1 Display Two values are shown on the display. The upper value shows the quantity of liquid that has flowed through the device in litres (total). The lower value (smaller figures) indicates the momentary flow rate in litres per minute (l/min). 3.3.2.2 Keypad The has a total of three keys. On pressing the left key (ACCUM. TOTAL) the so-called cumulative flow is shown on the upper display in litres. This value is only visible while the key is pressed. This value cannot be reset to zero The central key (RESET) is used for zeroing the display. Once the key is pressed, the display is set to zero. The right key (PROG) is only used for programming the. Since this procedure is carried out by the manufacturer, this key has no significance for the operation of the. The device has no ON/OFF switch. It always remains ready for operation. The current consumption is minimised by an internal circuit. Page 3-4 Rev.: 1.01 KH / Date: 19.10.99 Descr. No.: DOK-347E
3.3.3 Measurement Procedure Measurement with the must be carried out in the following steps: Step 1: Remove the from the container. Step 2: Check the pipe interior for contamination or damage. The impeller must turn easily and then stop abruptly. Step 3: Check the display; the upper and lower displays must indicate zero. If the upper display indicates a value, press the <RESET> key. The display should now indicate zero. Step 4: Remove the cover cap from the product coupling on the vehicle. Step 5: Couple the to the vehicle; couple the hose (see Chapter 3.3.1). The measurement procedure can now be started. The description only refers to the operation of the. Of course, all other conditions relevant to the discharge of a fuel must be fulfilled. Step 6: Remove the product hose to the buried tank from the after termination of the discharge. Be sure that that no fuel flows into the ground. 3.4 Storage A special vibration-absorbing container must be used for storing the. If the is not transported in such a container and damage is caused, then no guarantee claims can be considered. Descr. No.: DOK-347E Rev.: 1.01 KH / Date: 19.10.99 Page 3-5
4 Servicing The has been designed so as to restrict the servicing work to a minimum. Each time the meter is used, it must be checked whether the meter impeller wheel turns easily. Lubrication of the impeller bearing is provided by the working fluid. Therefore never blow out the with compressed air. Damage to the bearing may occur. With the regular safety inspections must be carried out, according to ElexV. Para. 12 and VBG 4. 4.1 Battery Replacement When the battery service life expires, after about 2 years, this is indicated on the display with low bat. The batteries must be replaced when this indication appears. Important: The is a so-called intrinsically safe component and is approved by an official office with regard to the explosion protection. Therefore only genuine replacement batteries must be used. The voltage supply for the is provided by two batteries. Only one battery must be replaced at a time, because otherwise all the settings will be deleted. Unscrew the four mounting screws on the membrane keypad to change the batteries. Then remove the membrane keypad and place it on a clean surface. The connecting lead to the sensor is of sufficient length and does not need to be removed. Now pull off the connecting lead between the battery and electronics from the electronics. Fit the new battery. Ensure that the batteries are firmly mounted with the appropriate cable ties. If the cable ties are not pulled tight, damage may occur later in operation. Descr. No.: DOK-347E Rev.: 1.01 KH / Date: 19.10.99 Page 4-1
