LOWER COST THAN DIESEL LOWER COST THAN DIESEL The RAPID ROLL T trailer/tactical version provides an extremely mobile solution which can be airlifted by a wide range of light, medium and heavy-lift helicopters (gross weight from 1,500 kg) but packs enough power for energyintensive operations. Easily mounted on an on-road or off-road trailer or flat-bed truck, the RAPID ROLL T provides many options for deployment to practically any global location imaginable. With simple deployment in just a few minutes without needing solar engineers onsite, it provides a practical solution for humanitarian and disaster relief, military, mining, events, film production and other temporary powerhungry operations in remote places which require equipment mobility. 04
EXCEPTIONALLY COMPETITIVE EXCEPTIONALLY COMPETITIVE Alternative small-trailer solutions utilizing rigid PV panels typically generate only 2-4 kw and cannot be deployed as quickly, requiring skilled solar engineers on-site to carry out the necessary cable connections and system setup during construction. The Renovagen technology provides up to 10 times greater power generation than the competition in the same sized trailer and can be deployed in just a few minutes via vehicle tow. It s so simple to operate that any technician can learn how to use it with just a couple of hours training.
HYBRID OPERATION HYBRID OPERATION In the majority of climatic and economic conditions around the world, the optimum Return-on-Investment (ROI) for off-grid energy can be achieved from a hybrid power system. Renovagen s fuel savings technology, integrated into RAPID ROLL systems, delivers fuel savings by leveraging auto start-stop control of a diesel generator. This reduces the number of running hours and most importantly runs the generator at its most efficient operating point when it is required. We work with customers existing generators so that you continue to obtain value from your existing assets. 06
The technology also facilitates the easy supplementation of hybrid power with solar energy from 0% solar to 99% depending on location and weather conditions. The presence of the generator eliminates weather anxiety and guarantees that backup power will always be available. Typically fuel savings of 50% to 95% can be realised in the solar-battery-diesel hybrid model. Implementing fuel savings technology reduces the battery and solar capacity required to guarantee 24/7/365 power and therefore significantly reduces CAPEX in comparison with a pure-solar off-grid system.
KEY APPLICATIONS KEY APPLICATIONS Target applications include: Humanitarian & Disaster Relief Ideal for short and medium-term deployment to challenging environments, the exceptional mobility facilitates rapid response in critical situations where lives can be saved by providing power to mobile medical facilities, communications and water purification equipment. Often, in a post-disaster environment, fuel supplies may be disrupted and even where generators have been deployed, there may not be sufficient fuel to run them. Just a single RAPID ROLL T system can provide enough power for a 120-bed mobile clinic (USAID Category III standard) or to desalinate 25,000 litres of water every day without requiring fuel a potentially lifesaving capability. 08
Military The cost of fuel delivery to remote Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) may reach $400 per gallon (according to US military estimates), due to the force protection requirements for fuel convoys and flights. On this basis, fuel savings may provide a Return-on-Investment against the capital cost of RAPID ROLL systems in as little as 2-3 months. With 3,000 military casualties in fuel convoy protection alone in Iraq and Afghanistan, reducing or eliminating the need for fuel convoys can be life-saving. Just a single RAPID ROLL T system can power a Headquarters complete with communications equipment, and a number of systems running in parallel may power an entire FOB.
KEY APPLICATIONS Mining Access to energy presents a great challenge and cost to remote mining exploration operations. The mobility of the RAPID ROLL T system enables it to provide value from fuel savings for such operations which move on a regular basis for example exploratory drilling camps. Events & Festivals The environmental impact of large festivals is coming under increasing scrutiny. Often such festivals are located off-grid and require noise and polluting diesel generators to operate. The RAPID ROLL T offers festival operators the ability to reduce their carbon footprint, eliminate noise for key performances and improve the environmental profile of their event. 10
Film Production The noise and environmental impact of diesel gensets when filming at remote, environmentally sensitive sites presents a multi-faceted challenge. Often such projects are designed to record a rare or sensitive environment itself, increasing the level of environmental impact scrutiny required. The requirement for noise suppression means that gensets must be dug in at a distance from the filming location which is time-consuming and can cause additional damage. The RAPID ROLL T system provides an ideal zero-noise alternative. FUTURE DEVELOPMENT FUTURE DEVELOPMENT RAPID ROLL I Industrial Scale Power in ISO Shipping Container form-factor for multi-mw deployments. Currently in the early stages of R&D, RAPID ROLL I is a scaled-up version of our RAPID ROLL T product with up to 6 times the power density of the RAPID ROLL T, enabling very large power systems to be deployed quickly and efficiently from the minimum number of containers. Economies of scale will drive significant cost-per-watt reductions. Key features include: A RAPID ROLL solar array up to 150kWp or more (20ft ISO container), or 300kWp or more (40ft ISO container) Up to 1MWh of integrated energy storage per container (20ft ISO), or 2MWh (40ft ISO) Coupling of multiple units in parallel is possible to create multi-mw power systems Special deployment equipment enables multi-mw solar power systems to be deployed, fixed and up and running in less than a day For example, a 6MWp RAPID ROLL I system could be deployed over an area of 5 football pitches from 20 x 40ft containers in just a few hours, including up to 40MWh of energy storage capacity. This capability will truly mobilise city-scale renewable power and enable flexibility to provide cost-effective sustainable energy at large mining sites, humanitarian camps and military Main Operating Bases.
