00 Cargo Socket Kit Fitting Model OUTBACK October 2014 and later Installation Instructions PART No. H6710AL100 J: To those installing this product Important 1. We recommend that you ask the SUBARU dealer to install this product. We are not liable for any damage or injuries as a result of inappropriate assembly. 2. For safety during installation, park the vehicle on a level surface, set the parking brake, and disconnect the ground to the battery prior to starting work. 3. Use extreme caution during installation and removal of the car parts so as to avoid damage to the parts or the vehicle. 4. Perform wiring safely and ensure that the harness does not cause any short circuits by rubbing on the sharp edges of the body panels. 5. Please refer to the service manual for details of the work procedure. 6. Be sure to follow the following matters to ensure safety and proper installation. Disconnect the battery terminal during wiring. Performing wiring with the terminal connected to the battery can result in a short circuit which in turn can cause an electric shock or injury. When disconnecting the vehicle connectors, do not pull the lead wire but hold the connector body to separate. Doing so prevents damage to the wire. When installing parts or the finisher which was previously removed, do not hook or jam the harness onto the back side as this could result in wire breakage or a short circuit. Check if car electrical equipment functions properly. Also, be sure to write down the electrical equipments memory, including that of the radio. It will prevent trouble during the restoration check after installation. Securely connect connectors and terminals. Failure to do so can result in poor connections. Do not strongly pull on the car wiring harness as this may cause the connector to come off, wire breakage, or other forms of damage. Use the appropriate tool to tighten bolts and nuts. Tighten them at the designated torque if specified. Failure to do so is dangerous because bolts and nuts could become damaged or come off due to inadequate tightening. When connecting the harnesses, put car wiring together along the harness or fix it using clamps. Do not leave wiring hanging freely. Putting together or fixing harnesses prevents the harness from being caught on something or generating noise. After wiring the harness, conduct an operation check of the parts installed before recovery to confirm the wiring was done properly.

Before starting the procedure Figure 1 Open the front hood, remove the earth terminal from the battery sensor, wait for 60 seconds or more, and begin the procedure. (Figure 1) Notes Once the battery terminal has been disconnected, the memory of selected songs in the audio system is erased, so make sure to make a record of it prior to removing the cable. The air bag system has a back-up power source. Beginning the procedure without waiting 60 seconds after disconnecting the battery can result in the air bag deploying. 2

2. Installing the cargo socket Figure 2 2-1. Removing related parts (1) Remove the rear seat cushions. (Figure 2) (3) Note (1) (3) When the hook-rear seat (a) separates from the car body, be sure to replace the hook-rear seat with a new one to ensure firm attachment. (1) i) Push the seat cushion corner from above. (2) ii) While pushing the seat cushion corner from above, pull the seat cushion knob forward. Figure 3 (2) (1) iii) While pulling the knob forward, lift the front side of the seat cushion to unhook. iv) When the front side of the seat cushion is lifted, unhook the hook (b) of ASSY CTR by pushing in the seat cushion to take out the seat cushion. (Figure 3) (a) (b) For models with a seat heater, disconnect the connector. (b) Figure 4 (2) Remove the back rest side pad. (Figure 4) i) Remove the bolt and take out the back rest side pad by pulling up. ii) Disconnect the reclining cable and takeout the back rest side pad. Tightening torque: 7.5 N m 3

Figure 5 (3) Remove the mat-rear floor, the box-sub trunk, and the spacer-rear floor. (Figure 5) Figure 6 (4) Remove the clips and the trim panel-rear skirt. (Figure 6) Note Do not lift the trim panel-rear skirt from the edge. Doing so may damage it. Figure 7 (c) (b) (5) Remove the trim panel-rear apron. (Figure7) i) Remove the cover and remove the screws and bolts (a), (c), and (d). ii) Remove the cover and remove the screws and bolts (a), (c), and (d). (Figure 8) Power supply connector (For cargo socket) Remove the vinyl tape 4

Figure 9 (7) Matching the dimensions in the figure, make a notch on the sound-absorbing material (white) of the trim panel-rear apron (dotted circle in the figure) using scissors. (Figure 9) 20mm 20mm Figure 10 Make a lower hole (Φ3, Φ6) Marking (8) Pull back the sound-absorbing material (white) where the notch was made, and make a socket mounting hole at the marked place. (Figure 10) i) Make a lower hole with a Φ 3 mm bit. ii) Enlarge the lower hole with a Φ 6 mm drill bit. iii) Make a hole with a Φ 28 mm hole saw centering using the Φ 6 mm lower hole. Notes Φ3 Lower hole center Make a hole with a hole saw (Φ28) Securely fix the pulled back sound-absorbing material with tape so that it is not caught by the hole saw. When drilling, take care so as not to damage the back side of the trim panel-rear apron by wrapping gummed tape on the drill bit 10 mm from the drill tip. After drilling, carefully remove all chips sticking to the sound-absorbing material. Figure 11 Match the paper patter line with the rib Align Φ28 hole with the cut out Φ Groove making position paper pattern (9) Apply the paper pattern and cut out at the groove position. (Figure 11) The square portion cut out on the paper pattern is the socket mounting groove position. Mark with a marking-off pin, etc. i) Cut out the paper pattern from the last page of this installation instructions, and apply it aligning the paper patter line with the trim panel-rear apron rib and the round hole made by drilling and fix it with tape. ii) Make grooves with a box cutter/file, etc. by matching the groove marking line. iii) Remove burrs or chamfer using a box cutter or file. 5
