1. PURPOSE: The purpose of the DEMA 582 Foam Station III is to allow a remotely located chemical product source (i.e. a tote) to supply up to three DEMA 582 foam stations without the need for a bulky supply container under each foam station. The product tote can be located in a remote location or a secured room. A DEMA MixRite water powered proportioning pump is placed over the tote and mixes the chemical product with water at the correct ratio and sends the mixture through pipes to one or more 582 Foam Stations. The pipes, along with pressurized air hoses, can be run through the walls (if new construction) or run up to the ceiling and dropped back down for connection to the 582 Foam Station III. 2. PARTS / COMPONENTS: A. DEMA Model 582 Foam Station III B. 93-14 Water Outlet Hose 25 long ¾ I.D. (optional) C. 93-18-3 PVC Foam Wand (optional) D. 58-200 Flow Disc 3. INSTALLATION: Preparation of the 582 location(s) must be made prior to installing this unit. Start with the location of the chemical tote and install a DEMA MixRite pump above the tote. See the DEMA MIXRITE PROPORTIONING PUMP Installation Instruction (I-814). Install a 582 Foam Station III on the wall at each chosen location. Run ½ I.D. (min.) pipe from the MixRite to the 582 location(s). Run pressurized air lines to the 582 location(s). Connect the ½ (or larger) pipe and air lines to each 582 Foam Station III. Connect ¾ ID hose to output (maximum length 50 ft.). 4. OPERATION: Open water inlet ball valve fully. Open air ball valve fully (straight up position). Adjust air pressure regulator until the proper consistency of foam is achieved (40 psi min to 150 psi max). If there is too much foam output you can reduce it by inserting the flow disk into the water inlet as follows: Remove the rubber washer from the water inlet. Insert the flow disk into the water inlet. Refer to the flow disk drawing on page 5 for the correct orientation. Reinsert the rubber washer back into the water inlet. WARNING: If the foam wand valve is shut off while the system is under pressure and the air pressure is higher than the water pressure; soapy water will be forced back into water supply or the pump. To prevent this, shut off the air valve / water valve when not using the unit for any length of time. I-866 Pg. 2 of 6
5. SERVICING: PROBLEM CHECK SOLUTION Check for soapy water. Troubleshoot the MixRite unit that Not producing foam. Shake some in a half full bottle to make sure the mixture will fill the other half with foam. supplies soapy water to the 582 Foam Station (See Instruction Sheet I-814). Make sure that the mixture can actually foam. Foam surges. Check for sufficient air. Check that output hose is ¾ ID. Open the air valve and check that air is flowing. If not, check the air compressor. Adjust pressure regulator (40 psi min. up to 150 psi). Adjust the Pressure Regulator. Install ¾ ID hose on output line. 6. OVERALL DIMENSIONS: I-866 Pg. 3 of 6
