DEMOLITION DERBY CAR AND DRIVER RULES/REQUIREMENTS Rules with an ** by them are new, changed or modified rules. 1. **Entry fee is $40 per class. (Includes ONE pit pass for driver) Everyone else must purchase a pit pass @ $12 each. Each driver is allowed five (5) pit passes including the driver. Additional pit passes must be approved prior by EC Enterprises. Anyone in the pit area must be 18 years of age. Picture ID is required. NO kids in the pit area, period! NO ALCOHOL is allowed in the pit area. No drinking by the drivers or their crew. Any violation of this will result in forfeit and entire crew will be escorted out. 2. **Driver s door must be heavily reinforced on the outside of the car, or inside the door skin. The passenger door must be reinforced as well. The driver s door reinforcement brace must be 6 wide. Brace must extend 4 past the door seems, especially four door cars, but NOT into the wheel wells. Braces must be welded and bolted to the car. The driver s side brace must not extend out more than 6 and passenger s side not more than 3 out. Bolts must be cut off flush with nuts on door beams. Truck braces must extend into the bed, but not into any wheel wells. (See diagram #1)Grader blades cannot be used. Driver s door MUST BE PADDED. This is for YOUR safety, make sure to take the time to do it right! 3. **The original fuel tank must be removed, or punctured and flushed with water. A safe fuel tank, (racing fuel cell or approved auxiliary fuel tank) 12 gallon or less. It must be securely fastened and mounted in the rear seat area,(no bungee cords) with holes drilled in the floor so fuel can drain out in the event of a fuel leak. If it is NOT a racing fuel cell, then it must be covered with a metal fire shield. No plastic fuel filters. Only unleaded fuel from a gas station allowed. No race fuel, aviation fuel, alcohol etc. will be allowed. Take extreme caution with your fuel system! 4. Electric fuel pumps must have ON/OFF switch located in a yellow square on the top center of the dash with ON and OFF clearly marked. Make it accessible from outside the car. If you are using an electric fuel pump, you must have a yellow letter E above the drivers door, 2 tall and 1 wide. 5. Vehicles must have air cleaners and a hole in the hood 2 square feet or larger. All vehicles must have a fire extinguisher in pit area with vehicle. They may be in the car if it is securely mounted. 6. A protective and quickly removable screen will be placed on the driver s door window area. Must be able to be quickly removed or swung out of the way to have access to the driver. If it is hinged, it must be hinged at the top. Remember, we need to fasten the flag to the door post. An
expanded metal type screen will be securely mounted in front of the driver, extending only half way across the windshield area. It must be strong enough to be stood on. There must also be a strong center post welded in the center of the windshield area. 7. Other than the driver s seat, ALL flammable material must be removed from inside the vehicle and firewall totally sealed from engine compartment. 8. **Drivers will wear lap and shoulder belts, (harness is preferred but not required) Driver will wear a helmet, goggles, gloves and neck braces. Drivers will wear loose fitting clothing and long sleeves and pants. You MUST bring your safety gear to tech inspection. 9. Vehicles will be free from all glass, mirrors, taillights, chrome, clips, outside door locks, emblems and anything that can fall off. Engines will be free of grease and oil, and steam cleaned. Trunks will be empty. 10. NO reinforcements to body or frame. Vehicles must use stock body mounts. No seam welding of any frame is allowed. Frame repair is allowed as long as it is no stronger than original. Hood and trunk MUST BE CHAINED with 3/16 or larger chain. No drive chain, no welding any chain links. You may weld them shut if you want to. All thread will be allowed to fasten hood only, ¾ max thickness of all thread, with NO structural support. No added metal under the car AT ALL! Motor mount chains are ok. No chaining the hump, axles, or any location to the frame, other than the trunk lid and the hood per the rules. Trailer hitches must be removed. 11. **Mud flaps are required on rear wheel drive vehicles. What kind is up to you whether you want them stiff or flexible. They will be no shorter than 6 from the ground. (See diagram #2). 12. Numbers need to clearly painted or vinyl stickers on the roof, driver s and passenger doors. Size of numbers at least 2 wide and 18 tall. 13. Cooling system will be stock in location and function. All exposed cooling systems will be shielded to protect the driver. No pressurized cooling systems. It must be bolted, not welded directly to the frame; it cannot reinforce the car in any way. Cooling system must be filled with water only, no antifreeze. Heater core must be bypassed. No cooling system will be allowed in driver s compartment. 14. All vehicles will have a roof to floor post behind the driver s seat, 2 in diameter or larger, mounted with a 4 x 4 steel plate or roll cage. Vehicles must have roof over the driver, no sunroofs. 15. No six cylinder or mid-sized vehicles allowed in any of the compact car classes. 16. NO studded tires OR wheel weights are allowed. 17. **All cars in the event will be race ready by 2:00 p.m. Saturday of the event. Best of Show will race as they are judged. No changing parts from Best of Show to Derby race. Drivers meeting is at 4:00 p.m. All vehicles will be done and through tech or you may forfeit your race and entry fee/pit pass fee. So be ready! 18. Bumpers must NOT be higher than the average driver s door brace. If you change tires or raise the back of the vehicle, it is your responsibility to make sure the bumper is at proper height. If it is too high, you will be required to lower the vehicle. No exceptions will be made. 19. **Battery must be securely mounted inside the drivers compartment (no bungee cords) and in a box of some kind. It must have a lid that will latch and stay closed. Battery must be insulated
from battery box lid(rubber isolator) It is a good idea to vent the battery box and it is preferred that you have a batter y/electrical shut off switch. (not required, but preferred) 20. **All entry forms must be turned in no later than two week before the event. Filled out completely, sponsors listed etc. No changes will be made after entry is turned in. We need time to get the program printed. It is possible to enter after the cutoff date, but you will not be in the program. Only list four (4) sponsors. 21. NOTE* the gates to the pit area closes at 4:30 p.m. to EVERYONE, including drivers and their crew. You must have your pit pass before then. NO exceptions will be made. If you have extenuating circumstances, please contact us prior to the event. 22. All vehicles must be removed from the Roundup Grounds no later than 2:00 p.m. Sunday. ANY vehicles remaining on the premises will be disposed of at EC Enterprises discretion. 23. **No four wheel drive vehicles allowed. If 4 wheel drive truck, front driveline must be removed. All 4 wheel drive trucks must be approved by EC Enterprises prior to the event. Chrysler Imperials, AMC Pacer and Gremlins are not allowed. Compact vehicle = 4 cylinder engine, 4 lug wheels, and less than 98 wheelbase. 24. Pink X Rule: If our judges feel you are on a Sunday drive, dogging it and not engaging in the derby, we will stop the show and paint a big pink X on your vehicle for all to see, laugh and hit. At that time, everyone s time will restart. 25. **Best of Show will be judged during tech inspection, different judges than tech personal will be performing this task. The top ten will then be judged by the drivers of the top ten chosen. 26. **There will always be safe driving in the pits. Max speed is 5 mph, whether it is your derby car or your tow vehicle. ANY driving thought to be not safe will result in disqualification. 27. **CHEATING: Any cheating will NOT be tolerated. If we catch you cheating at tech inspection, you will be charged $20 for EACH infraction. (ex. if we find four items you cheated on, you will pay $80) It will be paid in full in CASH, and you will be required to fix all cheating infractions before you are allowed to compete. If we catch you cheating during the event, you will be disqualified and forfeit any and all prize money and trophies. The rules are very clear, and if you have questions, ASK before you assume. Minor things that need to be fixed are not considered cheating, you know if you are cheating or not, so DON T! 28. EC Enterprises LLC reserves the right to create, change or modify any rule or requirement. Last but not least, go out and have some fun, put on a show and be safe! Air cleaner and 2 square ft. hole in hood, fire extinguisher. Removable screen on driver s window, expanded metal on driver s windshield area. Center post welded by windshield, 2 post behind dr seat with 4 x4 plate Flammable material removed from inside vehicle, firewall sealed. Driver s safety equipment, helmet, goggles, gloves, long sleeves, seat belt/harness. All glass, lights, chrome, door locks, emblems removed. Clean engine, trunk empty. Body and frame meet rule requirements, Hood, trunk and doors secure. Mud Flaps on rear wheel drive cars. 6 from ground max Numbers legible on both doors and top. Cooling system safe and shielded.
