Woodbury High School Parking Permit Orientation

Parking Policy Overview n This presentation is a general overview of the Woodbury High School Parking Policy. n Students must review the website parking policy to be completely informed of policies, procedures, and consequences for parking at Woodbury High School.

Parking Permit Eligibility n Students seeking to purchase a parking permit to park at Woodbury High School must have no outstanding un-served detentions from the 2016-17 school year. Any outstanding detentions must be served in order to be eligible to purchase a Woodbury High School Parking Permit. n Students assigned detentions during the 2017-18 school year, must have them served by the assigned deadline to avoid having their parking privileges suspended.

WHS Parking/Driving Rules n Vehicle must be licensed to the student and/or parent/s listed on the permit application form n Accurate vehicle registration n Respectful to school staff n Park only in assigned lots n Use only one parking spot n Drive slow and careful n Do not move cars during the school day n Do not transport other students to or from campus during the school day(including lunch) n Do not use vehicles to leave campus unexcused

Violations/Consequences Violations 1. Parking outside painted lines 2. Loitering/Littering in parking lot 3. Parking in other than assigned lot 4. Improper permit display 5. Student in lot without a permit from the office 6. Inaccurate vehicle registration 7. Visible tobacco (including any empty tobacco container/package) in any vehicle 8. Parking without a permit Consequences May Include: #2 Littering: 1st Violation: Also one hour campus clean up #7: School District Policies enforced/possible Police notification. #8: Must pay $5 for each day parked without permit

Violations/Consequences Violations 9. Reckless driving/reckless behavior 10. Leaving campus unexcused (truancy). 11. Transporting another student to or from campus during the school day without administrative authorization (truancy). 12. Forging a pass, note; using another student s pass to leave; person other than parent/guardian call in permission to leave. 13. Insubordination to staff; failure to stop for staff 14. Smoking Consequences May Include: #10, #12, #13: Also referral to Assistant Principal #14: Referral to Assistant Principal and police for smoking or possession

Cost General and Priority Lot: $120 Prorated Permits: n Trimester 2: 66% of full price n Trimester 3: 33% of full price n 916 or PSEO: ½ price in the general lot

Display Parking Permit n Students must hang their permits on their rearview mirror. Vehicles without properly displayed permits may have permit revoked.

Refunds Refunds are prorated: n n n During Tri 1: Full Refund During Tri 2: 66% Refunded During Tri 3: No Refund n There are no refunds for lost or stolen permits.

Transfer of Permits n Students may not transfer or sell permits to other students, nor may students use their names to buy permits for other students.

Tardy to School Students with parking permits who are tardy to school more than 3 times in a trimester may be subject to the following permit suspensions: n 4th time = 3 day suspension of parking permit n 5th time = 4 day suspension of parking permit n 6th time+ = 10 day suspension of parking permit n Administration reserves the right to suspend or revoke parking permits for chronic offenders, assign detention, and/or out of school suspension. n In case of inclement weather and/or road construction, the school may exercise reasonable discretion in waving this policy. *Students should have their vehicles parked by 8:15 a.m. to ensure they arrive to class on time.

Leaving Campus Unexcused n Students who use their vehicles to leave campus unexcused may receive a ten-day suspension from the WHS parking lots on the first offense, and may thereafter have their permits revoked with a prorated refund. n No refunds 3 rd trimester. n They may also be referred to their assistant principal for disciplinary actions for truancy.

One-Day Passes n Available from Ms. Robb Trebesch n $5.00 per day

Search of Vehicle n Any vehicle on campus is subject to search by a school administrator. n If the school official determines there is reasonable suspicion that a school regulation or law has been violated, he/she may be assisted by a law enforcement officer. n Anything in a student s vehicle is understood to belong to that student. n All contraband will be confiscated. n Students with inappropriate items in their vehicles may be subject to additional school consequences per district policy.

Suspension/Revocation n When a student receive a suspension from the lot, the student and the vehicle are both suspended from parking at WHS. n Parents/guardians of students with suspended or revoked parking privileges will be notified of the suspension or revocation by phone or by mail. n Students who drive/park on WHS lots without permits, or with permits under suspension or revocation, may have their vehicles towed and may be suspended out of school. n Students who have had their permits revoked are NOT eligible to bring any vehicle to school during school hours for any reason.
