TOYOTA HIGHLANDER 2005 - OVERHEAD VIDEO(AUTOCINEMA) SPECIAL NOTE: Installation Sequences After TMS and Safety mandated preparatory steps have been taken, the installation sequence is the suggested method for completing the accessory installation. In some instances the suggested sequence is written for one associate to install and in others the sequence is given as part of a team accessory installation. Unless otherwise stated in the document, the associates may perform the installation steps in any order to make the installation as efficient as possible while maintaining consistent quality. Fig. B2 Fig.C1 A. Pre-installation Precaution 1. Use Seat and Floor Protectors to avoid damage to surfaces. 2. If the vehicle is equipped with an Anti-theft radio, the radio code must be written down prior to disconnecting the battery cable. The code must be re-entered when the negative battery cable is reinstalled. Fig.C2 B. Battery Disconnect 1. NOTE: be sure to open the rear hatch, PRIOR to disconnecting the battery. 2. Remove the NEGATIVE (-) battery terminal using a 10 mm socket before starting any disassembly. (Fig. B1) C. Domelamp removal 1. Using the panel removal tool, carefully pry the domelamp lense from the housing as shown in (Fig. C1) 2. Remove (2) screws with a #2 phillips head screwdriver Fig. C2) 3. disconnect the wire harness and remove lamp housing (Fig. C3) Fig.C3
D. Cutout hole for monitor 1. Align template with domelamp opening (Fig. D1) Fig.D1-2 2. Mark cutout with a marker (Fig.D2) 3. Carefully cutout hole in headliner with a utility knife (Fig.D3) E. Remove passenger side grab handle Fig.D3 1. Open bolt covers by prying with a NRT (Fig.E1) 2. Remove (2) bolts with a 10mm socket/ratchet Fig.E1 (Fig.E2) 3. Remove handle. F. Remove A-pillar molding and sunvisor 1. Remove A-pillar molding with hands by starting Fig.E2 from top, pulling out, then upward (Fig.F1) 2. G.Partially remove door trim/seal 1. Partially remove door trim/seal by pulling Fig.G1 down using hands (Fig.G1) H. Remove glove box door 1. Open glove box door. Fig.H2 2. Remove storage by pulling up with hands (Fig.H2) Fig.H3 3. Remove glove box door by pulling upward with hands starting from right side, then left (Fig.H3) I. Remove center finish panel Fig.I1 1. Remove (2) outer hvac control knobs (Fig.I1) 2. Remove (2) screws with a #2 phillips head screwdriver (Fig.I2) Fig.I2 3. Partially remove finish panel and remove (3) connectors from backside (Fig.I3) Fig.I3 4. Completely remove finish panel.
J. Remove radio 1. Remove (4) screws with a #2 phillips head Fig.J1 screwdriver (Fig.J1) 2. Partially remove radio and remove (2) connectors and antenna from backside (Fig.J2) Fig.J2 3. Remove radio. K. Route wiring 1. Feed wire puller from monitor opening towards Fig.K1 front right side above headliner near A-pillar until puller exits at windshield (Fig.K1) 2. Attach 12' harness (end with side snaps) and antenna cable to wire puller at windshield (Fig.K2) Fig.K2 3. Pull from monitor opening until about 12" of harness is exposed at monitor opening (Fig.K3) 4. Remove wire puller. Fig.K3 5. Feed wire puller between A-pillar and instrument panel out through glove box opening (Fig.K5) Fig.K5
6. Attach 12' harness to wire puller and pull through glove box opening (Fig.K6) Fig.K6 7. Feed wire puller through radio opening (Fig.7-8) 8. Pull wiring through radio opening (Fig.7-8) 9. Remove wire puller. Fig.K7-8 L. Install antenna 1. Peel off red adhesive backing from antenna base (Fig.1-2) Fig. L1-2 2. Partially remove paper backing from antenna taping (Fig.1-2) 3. Attach antenna base to upper center of wind- shield, inserting cable above headliner (Fig.L3) (attach offcenter if equipped with E/C mirror. 4. Tuck cable above headliner from center towards Fig.L3 passenger A-pillar (Fig.L4) 5. Peel remaining paper backing off. 6. Attach remaining antenna taping to windshield Fig.L4 from center towards A-pillars. 7. Trim off any excess taping. M. Install wiring Fig.M1 1. Attach a red T-tap to the gray wire on the 10 pin connector on the radio harness (Fig.M1)
2. Attach red wire from 12' harness to T-tap (Fig.M2) 3. Wrap Fm modulator with foam tape (Fig.M3) 4. Insert (2) 10" wire ties around main vehicle Fig.M2 wire harness (Fig.M4) 5. Tighten wire ties around Fm modulator (Fig.M5) 6. Cut excess ends of wire ties. Fig.M3 7. Attach male vehicle antenna connector to female antenna connector on Fm modulator Fig.M4 harness (Fig.M7) Fig.M5 Fig.M7
8. Attach 12' harness to the fm modulator harness (Fig.M8) Fig.M8 N. Fix A-pillar wiring 1. Tuck excess antenna wiring between A-pillar and instrument panel. 2. Peel backing from (3) wire tie bases and attach to A-pillar (Fig.N2) Fig.N2 3. Insert wire ties into bases and tighten around wiring (Fig.N3) 4. Cut excess ends from wire ties. Fig.N3 O. Reassemble radio, center finish panel, glove box door, storage tray, visor, A-pillar molding and grab handle reversing steps E-J.
P. Install monitor 1. Carefully cutoff tape from domelamp wire plastic bracket and remove plastic bracket (Fig.P1) Fig.P1 2. Install monitor bracket with (4) 1/2" phillips head screws with a #2 phillips head screwdriver. (Insert eyelet from black wire on 12' harness Fig.P2 under one of the (4) screws) (Fig.P2) 3. Attach (2) red T-taps to the (2) vehicle domelamp wires. Attach (1) red T-tap to the black wire Fig.P3-4 on the 12' harness (Fig.P3-4) 4. Attach blue spade clips to red T-taps in the fol- lowing sequence (Fig.3-4): Fig.P5 1' domelamp harness vehicle/12' harness black w/red stripe to blue w/yellow stripe purple to red w/yellow stripe red w/black stripe to black wire on 12'harn. 5. Trim fabric 1" inside inner opening of trim ring (Fig.P5) Fig.P6 6. Attach trim ring to monitor with (8) phillips head screws (Fig.P6)
5. Open monitor screen. 6. Attach black connectors and white conne- Fig.P6 ctors. (Fig.P6) 7. Attach power harness and antenna con- nectors to monitor (FIg.P12) 8. Attach monitor to bracket with (4) barrel nuts Fig.P7 using a 4mm hex (allen) wrench. (Fig.P13) Complete installation Fig.P8 1. Install 2 AAA batteries in remote control. 2. Install 2 AAA batteries in each headphone headset. 3. After testing system, store owners manual in glove box. Store remote and headphones in rear floor of vehicle.

Turn vehicle ignition to ON, depress power button on remote control for monitor. Insert dvd into monitor, press enter. Depress sound around on remote control tune vehicle fm radio station to channel displayed on screen. Depress source button until "TV" is displayed scroll channel up/down until tv channel is observed Depress sound around button on remote control. Tune vehicle radio to fm station. Turn power "ON" wireless headphones (turn Volume dial up slightly on headphones) Slide domelamp switch on monitor to "ON" Monitor should power on, start up sceen should appear on screen. DVD should begin playing Audio should be heard through vehicle speakers. TV tuner reception. (reception may be poor in areas where signal may be blocked) "Sound Around OFF" should be displayed Vehicle radio should operate normal. Program on G7 monitor should be audible through wireless headphones. Both lights on monitor should turn on.

Does vehicle radio station match radio station displayed when sound around is turned "ON"? 1. Are batteries installed? 2. Is power "ON" (headphones)? 3. Is volume turned "UP" (on headphones)? 4. Is anything blocking signal between monitor and headphones? 1. Turn "sound around off" on monitor.
