Engine 20 Basic Engine 10-1 Group 10 BASIC ENGINE REMOVAL OF ENGINE FROM LOADER 4. Remove two nuts and cap screws from the top of the heat shield (Fig. 2). 5. Loosen clamp and remove hose from air cleaner. 6. Remove four cap screws and remove the heat shield. Fig. 1-Removing Counterweights 1. Swing the two top counterweights out as shown in Fig. 1. 2. Remove the bottom counterweight by removing four nuts. 3. Loosen clamp and remove hose from carburetor intake. Fig. 3-Removal of Engine Connections 7. Disconnect the wire harness (Fig. 3). 8. Disconnect the throttle and choke cables from the carburetor. 9. Remove positive battery cable from the starter solenoid. 10. Remove the negative battery cable. (It is located at the base of the engine.) 11. Remove the fuel line from the fuel pump. 12. Remove drive chain from drive coupler. Fig. 2-Removal of Heat Shield

Remove snap ring (2) from the rotor seal housing (8) using internal-type snap ring pliers. 2. Remove rotor (3) from the housing (8). 3. Remove floating seal (4), O-ring (5), seal guide (6) and spring (7) from shaft inside the housing (8). 4. If leakage is noted, replace the rotor and seal assembly which are available in a repair kit (GG- 190-20654). ASSEMBLY OF ROTOR UNION Follow steps of disassembly in reverse (see above). Fig. 14-Aligning Drive Belt Place a straight edge along the fixed half of the drive sheave extending it toward the driven sheave but not touching the driven sheave. Clamp it to the drive sheave. Place another straight edge along the fixed half of the driven sheave but not touching the drive sheave. Clamp it to the driven sheave. Measure the distance between the two straight edges at both ends. Both measurements should be 2-3/4 inches (6.98 cm).
