06 07 1 Recipe for success when paving concrete on a steel reinforcement FEED FROM THE SIDE SPREAD FROM THE CENTER The strength requirements placed on concrete pavements exposed to extremely high loads can only be met by inserting a steel re inforcement. Reinforcement consists of steel mats or dowel bars that are either laid ahead of or inserted by the slipform paver. In cases specifying a previously laid steel reinforcement, concrete delivery is possible from the side only. For precisely this special application, WIRTGEN has developed the ISF 94 / ISF 94 i side feeder. The ISF 94 / ISF 94 i travels over the steel reinforcement ahead of the slipform paver while being charged with concrete from the side via trucks or semi-trailers. The ISF 94 / ISF 94 i then spreads the concrete evenly across the entire working width. Depending on job site conditions, the ISF 94 / ISF 94 i can be fed with concrete from the right or left machine side. The machine frame and spreading auger are of modular design and intended for paving molds ranging from 15 ft 7 in (4.75 m) and 31 ft 2 in (9.50 m) in width.
2 1 The WIRTGEN ISF 94 / ISF 94 i side feeder enables quick concrete delivery even with a previously laid steel reinforcement. 2 Four separately hydraulically driven, steerable track units ensure good maneuverability and traction.
08 09 Even distribution of large amounts of concrete fed from the side The spreading auger can be relied on to distribute the concrete across the specified paving width. TRIED-AND-TESTED MACHINE TECHNOLOGY As trucks or semi-trailers keep discharging concrete into the large receiving hopper of the conveyor unit, the conveyor transports the material to the center of the concrete slab to be paved. The ISF 94 / ISF 94 i side feeder then spreads the freshly delivered concrete by means of the integrated spreading auger and, without compacting it, places it at a smaller width but larger thickness than the slipform paver following behind. The slipform paver places the concrete at the specified width and layer thickness together with the previously laid steel reinforcement. MODULAR DESIGN In order to enable trucks or semi-trailers to drive right up close to the ISF 94 / ISF 94 i in restricted space conditions, the conveyor unit can be retracted and extended at the mere push of a button. Optimum concrete supply is ensured by the movable conveyor unit and continuously adjustable conveyor speed. The hydraulically telescoping main frame can be widened by means of modular extension elements to allow working widths ranging from 15 ft 7 in (4.75 m) and 31 ft 2 in (9.50 m). The spreading auger and concrete scraper can also be widened in line with the working width of the machine frame by means of modular extension elements.
The conveyor unit is distinctive for its conveying capacity of up to 262 yd³ (200 m³) per hour.
10 11 Ease of operation comes as a standard feature ONE-MAN OPERATION IS AN OPTION No problem at all thanks to the standardized operating concept: handling of the ISF 94 / ISF 94 i side feeder is easy for those familiar with operating the large WIRTGEN slipform pavers. Provided with language-neutral labels, the clearly arranged buttons and switches on the control panel are self-explanatory and allow intuitive handling. In addition to that, the conveyor unit can be operated via a separate control console. The walkthrough operator s platform can be accessed from both sides and offers an optimum view of the entire spreading process. Taken together, these benefits even allow one-man operation of the ISF 94 / ISF 94 i.
1 2 1 The conveyor unit can be moved and the conveyor speed and direction adjusted via the separate control console. 2 Operation of the ISF 94 / ISF 94 i is quite easy the tried-and-tested operating concept is identical to that of the new generation of WIRTGEN slipform pavers.

PAVING CONCRETE EFFICIENTLY ON A PREVIOUSLY LAID STEEL REINFORCEMENT The ISF 94 / ISF 94 i side feeder is gen erally used in combination with a slipform paver and texture curing machine. The ISF 94 / ISF 94 i accepts the concrete from a truck and spreads the ma terial evenly across the previously laid steel reinforcement. The slipform paver following behind places the concrete at the specified width, compacting and smoothing it at the same time. In a final step, the texture curing machine creates a defined sur face texture and sprays a curing compound on the freshly paved concrete surface. 1 Previously laid steel reinforcement 2 Concrete delivery truck 3 ISF 94 / ISF 94 i side feeder 4 SP 94 / SP 94 i slipform paver 5 TCM 180 / TCM 180 i texture curing machine 3 2 1
