Instruction heet P/N 187 723A Installing an H-200 Integral Right-Angle Module WARNING: Allow only qualified personnel to perform the following tasks. Observe and follow the safety instructions in this document and all other related documentation. 1. Introduction The H-200 Integral Right-Angle Module is equipped with a special nozzle adapter with the following features: easy replacement of the nozzle without removing the module from its service block easy, 360_ redirection of the nozzle without loosening fasteners or removing the module from its service block stainless steel construction for improved durability and better heat retention The H-200 Integral Right-Angle Module is for use with only the Nordson Corporation 236 XXX series of nozzles. Refer to the Nordson Adhesives and ealants Equipment Catalog for specific nozzle part numbers. In addition to this instruction sheet, your module kit (P/N 222 495) should include the following items: H-200 Integral Right-Angle Module two o-rings two socket head screws for mounting the module 42--H200--I--03 (formerly 59--51)
2 Installing an H-200 Integral Right-Angle Module 2. Installing the H-200 Module In order to complete installation of the H-200 Integral Right-Angle Module, you must do the following: relieve hydraulic pressure remove the old module install the nozzle install the new module Relieving Hydraulic Pressure Follow this procedure before opening any hydraulic connection in the system. 1. Bring the system to operating temperature. 2. Ensure that the hot melt unit pump is off. 3. Place drain pans below the H-200 guns. 4. Trigger all guns to relieve any trapped hydraulic pressure. 5. et the regulator to zero to reduce air pressure to the H-200 gun solenoids. 6. Place a drain pan under the hot melt unit drain valve. Fig. 1 5940152 etting the Regulator to Zero WARNING: Hot! Risk of burns. Wear safety gloves. Failure to observe this warning could result in personal injury. 42--H200--I--03 (formerly 59--51)
Installing an H-200 Integral Right-Angle Module 3 Relieving Hydraulic Pressure (contd.) 7. Use a screwdriver to open the hot melt unit drain valve. CAUTION: Use a screwdriver to turn the drain valve. Equipment damage can occur if the drain valve is turned with anything other than a screwdriver. 4202022 Fig. 2 Opening the Hot Melt Unit Drain Valve (Typical) 8. Allow some hot melt adhesive to drain from the manifold. 9. Use a screwdriver to close the hot melt unit drain valve when adhesive stops flowing from the hot melt unit drain valve. 10. Properly dispose of the drained adhesive. 42--H200--I--03 (formerly 59--51)
4 Installing an H-200 Integral Right-Angle Module Removing the Old Module Follow this procedure to remove an existing H-200 module from the gun service block. 1. Disconnect and lock out input power from the hot melt system. WARNING: Hot! Risk of burns. Wear safety gloves. Failure to observe this warning could result in personal injury. 2. Use an Allen wrench to remove the two socket head screws that secure the module to the service block. 3. Remove the old module, then remove and discard the old o-rings. 4. Wipe any residual hot melt adhesive from the service block surface that mates with the module to prevent hot melt adhesive from entering the air passage. 5940188 Fig. 3 Removing the Module crews (Typical) 42--H200--I--03 (formerly 59--51)
Installing an H-200 Integral Right-Angle Module 5 Installing the Nozzle Follow this procedure to install the nozzle in the H-200 gun. 1. Turn the nozzle adapter so that the nozzle hole is accessible. 1 2 3 4201034 Fig. 4 Nut Driver and Nozzle Positioned for Installation 1. Nut driver 3. Nozzle adapter 2. 6 Installing an H-200 Integral Right-Angle Module Installing the Nozzle (contd.) 2. Insert the nozzle into a nut driver or small socket and carefully thread the nozzle into the nozzle adapter. Tighten the nozzle to 0.46 Nm (4.0 in-lb). CAUTION: Do not overtighten the nozzle. Failure to observe this warning may result in equipment damage or leakage at the nozzle. 4201033 Fig. 5 Nozzle Correctly Installed Installing the New Module Follow this procedure to install the new module. 1. Coat the new pair of o-rings from this kit with silicone-based, high-temperature o-ring lubricant and place them in their grooves in the new module body. 2. hield yourself from hot melt adhesive released under pressure. WARNING: Hot! Risk of burns. Wear heat-protective clothing and safety goggles. 3. lowly increase air pressure to the gun solenoid to 2.8 bar (40 psi), then trigger the gun solenoid once or twice to clear any adhesive from the open air channel in the gun service block. 4. Wipe any residual hot melt adhesive from the service block surface that mates with the module. 5. Apply a coating of anti-seize lubricant to the new module screws from this kit. 42--H200--I--03 (formerly 59--51)
Installing an H-200 Integral Right-Angle Module 7 Installing the New Module (contd.) 6. Position the new module against the service block and secure it in place with the two module screws. 7. Torque both screws to 3.4 Nm (30 in-lb). 8. Turn the nozzle adapter until the nozzle faces the substrate. 9. Bring the system to application temperature, then torque both module screws once more to ensure that the module is properly installed. 3. Replacing the Nozzle Follow this procedure to replace the nozzle on an installed H-200 Integral Right-Angle Module. 1. hut down the hot melt system, then relieve hydraulic pressure as described earlier in this instruction sheet. WARNING: ystem or material pressurized. Relieve pressure. Failure to observe may result in serious burns. 2. Lock out and disconnect power from the H-200 gun solenoid. WARNING: Disconnect equipment from the line voltage. 3. Turn the H-200 Integral Right-Angle Module nozzle adapter so that the nozzle is accessible for removal. 4. Place a nut driver or small socket over the old nozzle, then carefully unthread the nozzle from the adapter. 42--H200--I--03 (formerly 59--51)
8 Installing an H-200 Integral Right-Angle Module 3. Replacing the Nozzle (contd.) 5. Insert the new nozzle into the nut driver or small socket, then carefully thread the new nozzle into the nozzle adapter. Tighten the nozzle to 0.46 Nm (4.0 in-lb). CAUTION: Do not overtighten the nozzle. Failure to observe this warning may result in equipment damage or leakage at the nozzle. 4201033 Fig. 6 Nozzle Correctly Installed 6.
