Cost Effective. Lighter Weight. Spicer All-Wheel Drive Systems. Fast fade housing design improves chassis fit-up. High entry design available for greater ground clearance. Popular and proven tandem axle design for optimum parts availibility, economical service. Unique front output design eliminates awkwardness, complexity and additional weight of transfer case configurations while maintaining driver control. Long lasting Extended Service Brake for longer life, less maintenance. Steerable drive axles provide optimum ratio compatibility for superior drivetrain performance. Spicer 4 x 4 and 6 x 6 all-wheel drive systems are ideal for a wide variety of specialty applications such as mixers, dump trucks, utility trucks, oil rigs, loggers, yard spotters, wreckers, fire pumpers, construction vehicles, and crash trucks. The Spicer design works particularly well in short wheelbase vehicles because of the more efficient driveline routing. No transfer case. No gear shift lever. By dividing the power in the rear axle, 4 x 4 and 6 x 6 all-wheel drive systems eliminate the need for a transfer case used in other designs. The Dana Spicer approach offers many advantages. Simpler design. Spicer all-wheel drive systems employ unique transfer gearing in the power divider to transmit power to the steer-drive axle when needed. This design eliminates the transfer case, extra driveline, and shift lever required in other systems. Lower initial cost. Fewer components mean less cost. Installation is quicker and easier, too, with two less yokes and less lube required. Standard lube pump. A gear-driven power divider lube pump provides excellent lube flow to the interaxle differential for long life and reliable performance for demanding applications. Lighter weight. Spicer all-wheel drive systems eliminate the heavy transfer case and associated brackets, shift lever, etc. you ll find on other systems. The result is a system several hundred pounds lighter for increased payload capacity and fuel economy. Lower maintenance costs. With fewer parts and no separate transfer case, Spicer 4 x 4 and 6 x 6 systems virtually eliminate the additive maintenance costs typical of more complex all-wheel drive configurations.

Unique Spicer transfer gearing delivers all-wheel drive performance with standard axle efficiency. Transfer case configurations usually mean awkward, less efficient routing. The Spicer all-wheel drive system changes all that. Our distinctive transfer gearing design eliminates the need for the conventional transfer case. Depending on the vehicle and components involved, the initial cost differential between Spicer and other all-wheel drive systems can be substantial. Our compact design provides even more savings by eliminating special bracketry and other mounting components. Weight savings and considerably less required lube are also features of the Dana Spicer design. Transfer gearing in the power divider weighs significantly less than a transfer case, gearshift and other related componentry. The result: increased payload capacity and improved fuel efficiency. Dana Spicer Transfer Gearing Dana Spicer All-Wheel Drive Steer Drive Axle Easy operation. The Spicer all-wheel drive system is as easy to operate as any standard rear drive axle. A dash-mounted valve controls front steer-drive axle engagement. In most applications, a flip to the left puts the vehicle in rear axle drive. Just flip it to the right and the vehicle is in all-wheel drive mode. That s it. No gear shift. No need to stop the vehicle. The system shifts while the truck is on the go. 6x4 Operating Mode Power Divider Transfer Gearing 6x6 Operating Mode Standard Single or Tandem Axle Typical driveline arrangement with transfer case Gearing to fit your application.
