HF2 Property Note FAILURE TO FOLLOW ALL APPLICABLE WARNINGS AND INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN SEVERE PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE. Warning Sign Description Attention: This icon indicates the risk of death or serious personal injury may result if precautions are ignored. High Voltage: This icon indicates High Voltage exists inside the cover. Opening the cover improperly may result in personal injury or device failure. Ionizing Radiation: This icon indicates Ionizing Radiation may exist in the area; improper maintenance may cause exposure to radiation and be a health hazard. Entanglement: This icon indicates moving parts can crush and cut. Lock out power before servicing. Independent grounding should be provided to the system. DO NOT use the cover of other machines as grounding for the system. DO NOT use tapped piping or building walls as grounding for the system. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS PRECAUTION MAY RESULT IN SEVERE PERSONAL INJURY OR EQUIPMENT DAMAGE. The system is NOT a waterproof design. DO NOT expose this equipment to environments or areas exposed to water or other liquids. Transportation/installation of this equipment on site, power supply connection to this equipment and commission of this equipment should be performed under supervision of a SCANTECH Technician. TURN OFF electrical power to equipment before opening the cabinet door or the detector head cover for maintenance purposes. There are HIGH VOLTAGE devices inside the detector heads. ONLY professional personnel with proper training can open the detector heads. 6
HF2 Property Note All the moving parts except detector heads are protected by covers; DO NOT operate the equipment when the covers or other protective devices are removed. DO NOT place any body part near or on moving parts. Although radiation testing by an authorized organization confirms that during normal operation the equipment's x-ray emissions are much lower than a level considered harmful, personnel should not expose body parts directly under the x-ray beam Contact Scantech S.A.S. Placing the Gauge in Its Allocated Space Positioning the Gauge For full usability of the gauge, some conditions must be checked. 1. Ensure that the air curtain fans blow in the opposite direction to the measured material flow direction. 2. Ensure that the scanning limit of the gauge covers the full range of the measured material width. 3. Note: Some equipments such as corona treaters emit ozone. Exposure to ozone causes severe corrosion to the equipment's mechanical and electronic components. Ensure that this type of equipment is located downstream and at least 3 meters distance away from Scantech's equipment 4. Ensure that the gauge is protected from exposure to high humidity, liquids, and dirty environments. 5. Ensure that there is enough space around the equipment to open the cabinet and remove the covers of beams. 6. Ensure that the emergency stop button and the main power breaker remain accessible after installation. Moving the Gauge The gauge must be transported with a lifting beam, in order to avoid permanent damage to the frame. Before you begin a lifting beam slings 1. Ensure the doors are closed and secured. 2. Ensure the light tower is removed. 3. Ensure the heads are positionned near the closet. 4. Pass the slings in the eye rings located at the top of the frame. 9
HF2 Placing the Gauge in Its Allocated Space 5. Danger CRUSH HAZARD If not properly secured, the gauge may fall The lifting engine must be controlled by properly qualified personnel Use only adequate slings and equipment. Please refer to mechanical specification table for the weight of your scanner Caution DAMAGE Usage of unproper tool for moving the gauge can cause permanent damage to the frame of the gauge. DO NOT move the gauge with a fork lift under the gauge frame. Lift the gauge to the installation site. The distance L between the two slings must respect the following formula: L > (Length - 90 mm) For a model LF1-2500 mm gauge: L > 2500-90 = 2410 mm. The distance L between the two slings must be greater than 2410 mm. 10
HF2 Placing the Gauge in Its Allocated Space Stabilizing the Gauge The Gauge is provided with mounting feets which must be adjusted to the requirements of the line. Before you begin 6 M16 bolts 6 M8 bolts 1. Ensure that the connection components to which the gauge is attached are adapted. They must be: level vibration-stiff free from paint, rust, grease and oil and have a plane machined surface. 2. Ensure that the process guide rolls guide the measured material parallel to the plane of the passline of the gauge. 11
HF2 Placing the Gauge in Its Allocated Space 3. Obtain four bolts and washers to mount the gauge to the connection. Scantech does not provide mounting bolts. 4. Position the gauge over the pre-drilled holes. 5. Adjust the measured material pass line to be in the middle between the upper and lower heads by adjusting the leveling screws at the base of the gauge. 12
Connection to Power Supply This procedure describes the steps to connect the equipment to the mains supply. Before you begin Danger ELECTRIC SHOCK Lethal electrical levels are present on mains power. Only properly qualified personnel are permitted to make the electrical installation. Mains power must be cut off before the start of this task. You must wear individual protection equipments to perform this task. Do not use detachable mains supply cord to power the equipment. Danger ELECTRIC SHOCK The gauge should be provided with independent grounding. Failure to provide correct grounding may result in severe personal injury or equipment damage. Do not use the covers of other machines as grounding for the system. Do not use tapped pipes or walls of building as grounding for the system. In addition to these practices, some localities and industries require applicable electrical and safety codes, laws and standards. 1. Ensure that the supply voltage details on the nameplate are correct for the plant. 2. Ensure that the equipment does not share the power supply with other equipments with high frequency harmonics or highly magnetic fields. 3. Open the door of the cabinet of the gauge. 4. Pass the power cable through a cable gland at the bottom of the cabinet. 5. Connect the power to the terminal XC1 as follows Terminal Color Name XC1-N BLUE NEUTRAL XC1-L BLACK PHASE XC1-GND YELLOW/GREEN GROUND 6. Secure the cable with the cord anchorage. 13

Pneumatic Connection Compressed air supply is required for the Vortex cooling system. The user should provide compressed air that is free of oil, water, or contamination. Caution PERFORMANCE DEGRADATION Unfiltered compressed air with oil/water/dust contamination will degrade the cooling performance of the system and may induce greater consumption of air. Provide only filtered air. Name Pressure Max Capacity Specification 0.4MPa < P < 0.6 MPa 24m³/h 17

Follow the instruction labels "up" and "down" during transit. Don't use a forklift truck for moving the gauge box. Use an overhead crane with sufficent capacity. 20
HF2 Specifications Lift the packing boxes only at the specifically identified lifting points. Lifting devices such as eyebolts, slings, and spreaders must be rated, selected, and used for the entire load being lifted. Avoid heavy pressure and jolting of the boxes. Transportation conditions should conform to the requirements of the packing boxes and of the modules regarding their environmental conditions. Warning CRUSH HAZARD The packing boxes can be heavy.if not properly secured, they may fall Use proper lifting methods and wear steel-toed shoes at all times. Storage You should store the gauge according to the following specification until mounted finally: In enclosed dry rooms Protected from dust At a maximum ambient temperature of 50 C Free from vibration to avoid bearing damage The cabinet must be closed and the head covers must be in place. Provide the covering so that condensation water, if any, can flow off. Place the equipment on suitable support or in shelves to prevent effects of soil moisture. If seaworthy packed, do not open or damage this packing during transport or storage. 21
