Location 2017 Cover Photo Hey Folks: The 2017 trip was a very rewarding and busy trip. We contracted another 4 schools, bringing the total to 45 schools completed or in process since 2002. Except for the February photo, all the photos in this year s calendar were taken while I was in Afghanistan this summer. The February photo of Ali Joya and Sajjad honors their hard work in being accepted to the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang South Korea. They will be the 1 st Afghans to compete in a Winter Olympics. They also happened to be my Ski Guides when I went skiing in Bamyan in 2014. Because I was able to travel to Afghanistan earlier than usual, I was able to photograph 3 schools that were still being constructed. It is a difficult process determining which 12 represent best what we have achieved. I know that pictures can speak 1000 words but they still do no justice compared to the numerous Tashakors from elders and students who collectively see a brighter future in part from our work and generosity. I will be heading back again in 2018 This will mark my 17 th summer. I look forward to visiting the villages and seeing the progress made both inside and outside the schools. I hope you enjoy the calendar and what these 12 photos represent. Peace, Jonathan
