1 ATHENS SERVICES - INITIAL MAXIMUM RATES Athens will be the City s new trash and recycling service provider starting July 1, An informational flyer will be mailed the last week of April Customers will select the number and size of containers they would like. The billing cycle for Athens will remain the same (quarterly for residential; monthly for commercial and multi-family that share containers). Billing with Athens will start July 1. Athens will use the account and billing addresses now on file with Consolidated Disposal Services. People who pay online or have automatic billing will need to sign up with Athens. This will be explained in the information packet you will receive at the end of April. Or call Athens at (888) Rates will change annually based on an annual rate adjustment not to exceed the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers all items less food and energy index - U.S. City average, but not more than 5%.
2 Monthly Residential Cart Service Rates Following are the rates for July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014: Standard Service Includes one refuse cart and one or more recycling carts. Green waste carts are provided on a subscription basis. Cart Size: 35-gallon* 64-gallon* 96-gallon* Standard Service based upon refuse cart size $6.69 $10.69 $14.69 Additional Refuse Cart above one $4.00 $6.00 $8.00 Additional Recycling Cart $0 $0 $0 Each Opt-in Green Waste Cart $3.70 $4.20 $4.70 Alternative Can Service (if carts not feasible) Equivalent cart rates based on capacity Active Military Rate Reduction above rates reduced by 25% Senior Low Income Discount (persons eligible for utility rate discounts) 20 gallon container at reduced rate, or above rates reduced by 10%. Athens will supply trash and recycling carts with lids and wheels. They will also supply green waste carts for people who opt-in to green waste service. People with space issues will be provided alternative containers. All containers come in 35, 65 and 95* gallon sizes. They are on display at City Hall, 1315 Valley Drive. The 35 gallon containers are about 39 tall, 20 wide, 24 deep. The 65 gallon containers are about 42 tall, 27 wide, 28 deep. *Actual container volumes and sizes may vary slightly but will not be larger.
