Unloading Your Plow Please do not wrap chains on, or near hydraulic cylinder rods or cylinder bodies. Option A: Attach a heavy duty chain or strap at point #1 and then loop the other end around the shank at the block where the upper cylinders connect to the shank at point #2 and make a solid connection. Lift at mid point of chain or strap where a balance point can be established. Lift and drive the trailer away or back away from the trailer and set plow on solid level ground or cement. #1 #3 Plow Weights Model 612 = 7500 lbs Model 712 = 9000 lbs #2 Option B: Take the forks on a large front end loader or forklift and place them under the lower A frame #3. On one side of the forks add wooden blocks so that when you raise the plow it remains level. Then you can lift the plow off of the trailer and onto the ground. Make sure that the jack stands are solidly bolted on and in the perpendicular position to the ground. Do not over extend the arms as they may become unstable and fall.

DRAWBAR SUPPORTS NOTE: It is important to install drawbar supports by welding the tabs to the plow as shown. (User installed due to varying thickness of customer drawbar). These tabs, when welded in place, will prevent the plow from moving up in the tractor tongue, and impacting or breaking the tractor hammer strap.

DRAWBAR SUPPORTS Front of plow frame Hammer Strap Please position the tabs with no more than 1/4 inch clearance between the tabs and the bottom of tractor tongue.

MX SERIES ADAPTER PLATES REQUIRED IF YOUR TRACTOR TIRES ARE LESS THAN 50 If using adapter plates you will need to turn the tractor drawbar over (offset in the up position) in order to gain a little more ground clearance under the plow. Next, to get the plow frame vertical you need to extend the drawbar out to the fourth hole. The center of the hitch hole should now be 21 inches behind the backside of the tractor drawbar support. This will leave the hitch arms 5 3/4 too short. Use the supplied adapter plates to bridge this gap. The adapter plates do not need to be welded in place. They will work either welded or not welded.

Before starting. Ensure that the drawbar is fully retracted. Make sure tires are fully inflated (22 lbs). Place tractor on level ground preferably a cement surface. All mounting instructions are to be applied to both right and left side of the tractor. Place mounting pins in the top of your 3pt mounting arms. Insert them so that the stop plates are on the outside closest to the tire. Pins will be held in place by the QuickTach c clamps when aligned and installed.

Mounting the plow to the tractor. Use the provided jacks to raise or lower the main hitch until it is aligned with the tractor drawbar. You will also need to align the 3-point arms to there respective receptacles an secure them using the provided pins. Hook up the tractor drawbar to the main hitch of the plow and insert the pin. The drawbar pin MUST be inserted before you hook up any hydraulic hoses and remove the shipping bar.

At this time the QuickTach mounted on the plow should line up closely to be inserted around the QuickTach mounting pins previously inserted in the 3-point arms. Place the C- clips in the specified location. To remove the shipping bar either use a torch or a grinder. C-Clips You may have to hook up your hydraulic hoses to achieve a snug fit. Using the pitch cylinders tilt the plow forward until properly aligned. Place the 4 C clips in the QuickTach. The clips should drop all the way in. You should not have to force anything.

Before Going to the Field, Be Sure To Check: If using a Dual-Link Grade system the relief valve should be turned out all the way. FOR PITCH-ONLY GRADING: Set the relief valve. At the base of your lower cylinders there is a pressure relief valve with a gauge. This is used to determining how the plow goes through the ground, the toe and heel angle. To set this valve turn the knob on the valve in all the way, raise the plow out of the ground and put lower cylinders in the float position, the plow should stay in the air. Then turn the knob out slowly until the plow starts to creep down. Then turn it back in about 1/4 turn and secure the jamb nut. This is usually around 500lbs. of backpressure. You will only see pressure on this gauge when the plow is in the air, with the cylinders in float, or when using the hydraulic pressure to lower the plow. To check make a dry run and watch your laser arm where your receiver is attached. This arm is parallel to the bottom of the plow. When you are plowing, the front of the laser arm should be a ½ to 1 inch higher than the back. If you see more than that, increase backpressure by turning the valve in. If the nose is down, decrease pressure. Calibrate your water level. With the boot and shank placed on level ground adjust the indicator on your water level to reflect where the water settles to. This will ensure that you have the proper benchmark for further steps in this manual. Check the cylinders for proper travel direction. When given a extend or up command from your hydraulic toggle the cylinders must extend. This is true for both Pitch and Elevation cylinders.

Set your hydraulic flow rate for your 1 port and 3 port cylinders. Most tractors should be set to 60-70% on your dial to start. NOTE: For plow operation with external hydraulic valve, tractor hydraulic flow should be set to max or 100% so there is adequate hydraulic flow for both pitch and elevation cylinders working at the same time. You will use a remaining free port for the power feeder. This hydraulic flow should be set to around 30-40% on your dial. You can change the speed for the feeder from either your hydraulic control panel (this is preferred method to avoid generating excess heat in hydraulic oil) or minor adjustments at the flow valve right before the motor on the power feeder. Set the speed of the wheel a little faster than what the tile is actually moving so it can spin a little. Don t forget to engage and disengage when you stop and start or you run the risk of burning a hole in the tile. If using the automatic hydraulics of your tractor there will be an existing OEM machine control cable installed on the tractor. Please refer to DAC 7000 machine controller manual to determine cable location for your specific tractor. If you then remove the DAC 7000 machine controller and leave the wire attached to the tractor you may see an error code on the tractor display. If using GPS for corrections calibrate you survey pass offset from the ground. This distance is the measured difference from when the globe is in the survey position on the plow and the when the plow is level to the ground. Measure your rod height. This is the height from the ground to the globe when the plow is set level on the ground.

PITCH GRADING WITH A LASER TO BEGIN OPERATION 1. After you have set your laser to grade and are prepared to lay pipe, lower the plow into trench or starter hole to your determined depth. 2. Adjust the plow to a leveled position to begin your hookup to the outlet. With your lift cylinders in a locked position adjust the draft angle to slightly raised position. The tip of your plow should stay slightly higher than what is parallel to the ground. When on working on level ground the water line on your water level should read approximately 1 below the level indicator. 3. Insert your tile down into boot and pull through at the bottom and complete your hookup to outlet. 4. While holding tile in place, pull the plow forward about 10 to 15 until plow is in solid ground and all you can see is the tail of the boot. A good reference point is when the step on the boot goes past the bank of the trench.

After seating the boot into the bank you must place the lower cylinders on your #3 port in the float position. 6. Adjust the receiver up or down on the mast until the green control box light comes on. 7. Be sure you have your grade programmed into the transmitter and pointed in the upward grade direction. Switch from manual to automatic on the laser control box and start forward as slow as possible so the laser can make grade changes. Tile at.8 to 1.2 MPH Remember the slower the better. 8. At the end of the tiling run turn the switch from auto to manual and lift plow slowly out of the ground while still moving forward. Pull the top cylinder in completely after the tile plow clears the ground.

PITCH GRADING WITH GPS TO BEGIN OPERATION BE SURE TO CONSULT THE AGPS OR TRIMBLE CONTROL SYSTEM USER GUIDES 1. After you have done your survey run and are prepared to lay pipe, lower the plow into trench or starter hole to your determined depth. 2. Adjust the plow to a leveled position to begin your hookup to the outlet. With your elevation cylinders in a locked position adjust the draft angle to slightly raised position. The tip of your plow should stay slightly higher than what is parallel to the ground. When on working on level ground the water line on your water level should read approximately 1 below the level indicator. 3. At this time, you can review your tile plan on the monitor. The AGPS system will typically warn you if the design plan exceeds any of your desired parameters. 4. Insert your tile down into boot and pull through at the bottom and complete your hookup to outlet.

While holding tile in place, pull the plow forward about 10 to 15 until plow is in solid ground and all you can see is the tail of the boot. A good reference point is when the step on the boot goes past the bank of the trench. 6. After seating the boot into the bank you must place the elevation cylinders on your #3 port in the float position. 7. After the plow is in the solid ground and the elevation cylinders are floated use your grade control software to build a pipe profile. If you checked your profile at step 3 you will need to reload the pass now. If you did not check your pass in step 3 you will have the software design it at this time. 8. Engage your automatic controls for your #1 SCV. You will see the letters AC in your hydraulic status window. Start moving forward as slow as possible so your controller can make grade changes. Tile at.8 to 1.5 MPH Remember the slower the better. 9. At the end of the tiling run turn the switch from auto to manual and lift plow slowly out of the ground while still moving forward. Pull the top cylinder in completely and return the plow to the survey position after the tile plow clears the ground.

DUAL GRADING WITH GPS TO BEGIN OPERATION BE SURE TO CONSULT THE AGPS OR TRIMBLE CONTROL SYSTEM USER GUIDES Once control systems are active: 1. After you have done your survey run and are prepared to lay pipe, lower the plow into trench or starter hole to your determined depth. 2. Adjust the plow to a leveled position to begin your hookup to the outlet.

Use your grade control software to build a pipe profile. If you checked your profile at step 3 you will need to reload the pass now. If you did not check your pass in step 3 you will have the software design it at this time. 6. Check to be sure that your automatic controls are engaged for ports 1 and 3. You will see the letters AC in your hydraulic status window. (NOTE: When equipped with external hydraulic valves, only Port 1 is used to supply the external valve). 7. While someone is holding the pipe in place start moving forward so your controller can make grade changes. Tile at.8 to 1.5 MPH Remember the slower the better. 8. At the end of the tiling run turn the switch from auto to manual and lift plow slowly out of the ground while still moving forward. Pull the top cylinder in completely and return the plow to the survey position after the tile plow clears the ground.

PARALLEL GRADING MODE What is parallel mode? The parallel mode is when you can raise your plow up and down with the long 5 x 36 cylinders, and not change the angle of the plow shank or knife tip. To do this you must set your plow to a true parallel linkage by measuring your bottom pin center from front to rear on your bottom A-Frame. That measurement should be 87 ½ CTC. Do the same for the upper A frame, adjusting pitch cylinders until top measurements equal 87 ½. When both measurements are at 87 ½ CTC, your plow is now square. Pitch cylinders position should not be moved however very slight adjustments to pitch can be made to maximize plow performance. The goal is for the angle of the tip to stay the same no matter what depth the plow is. This system is used when you have relatively even ground. When you are in very soft ground at the bottom of the plow such as quick sand or peat bottom you are actually carrying the plow with the tractor. This will also give you the maximum traction on your tractor because you have the full weight of the plow and the suction of the dirt pulling down on the plow. Using this system with an automatic controller the elevation cylinders will have to be located in the #1 SCV. The pitch cylinders should be in #3 SCV.

PARALLEL GRADING WITH A LASER TO BEGIN OPERATION 1. After you have set your laser to grade and are prepared to lay pipe, lower the plow into trench or starter hole to your determined depth. 2. With your lift cylinders in lock position adjust the angle of the plow to the marked position on your gauge rod. While in the parallel mode the plow should never be nose high. 3. Begin your hookup to the outlet. Insert your tile down into boot and pull through at the bottom and complete your hookup to outlet. 4. Adjust the receiver on the mast until the green light comes on in the control box. With the bottom cylinder in the lock position hold tile in place and drive forward. Watch the grade light on the control box and manually adjust your lower cylinders up or down to hold the grade.

Pull the plow forward about 10 to 15 until plow is in solid ground and all you can see is the tail of the boot. A good reference point is when the step on the boot goes past the bank of the trench. 6. Be sure you have your grade programmed into the transmitter and pointed in the upward grade direction. 7.

PARALLEL GRADING WITH GPS TO BEGIN OPERATION BE SURE TO CONSULT THE AGPS OR TRIMBLE CONTROL SYSTEM USER GUIDES Once control systems are active: 1. After you have done your survey run and are prepared to lay pipe, lower the plow into trench or starter hole to a position approximately 1-2 above your determined depth.

At this time, you can review your tile plan on the monitor. The AGPS system will typically warn you if the design plan exceeds any of your desired parameters. 5. Engage your automatic controls for your #1 SCV. You will see the letters AC in your hydraulic status window. 6. While holding the tile in place start moving forward as slow as possible so your controller can make grade changes. Tile at.8 to 1.2 MPH Remember the slower the better. 7. At the end of the tiling run turn the switch from auto to manual and lift plow slowly out of the ground while still moving forward. Pull the top cylinder in completely after the tile plow clears the ground.
