2 32 road workers divided up into four class job descriptions for initial assignment 8 mechanics, 1 full time stock room employee, three of the 8 mechanics work the afternoon shift 21 tandem axle salt trucks, all have underbody scrapers and front plows, 12 are equipped with snow wings We have 8 motor graders We currently have 16 regular salt routes but depending on the storm severity and available personnel we can add 5 more routes.

4 What is a winter season preparation meeting? How and when do you start to prepare? Where to do it.. What type of format works? How to.. arrange / assemble / coordinate. Are there any volunteers to arrange / assemble / coordinate? Why would YOU want to volunteer?

5 It is an opportunity to have all the employees in the same place at the same time so they all hear the same stuff from a single source. It is an opportunity to have experts give your crew the same information you have been giving them. It is an opportunity to instruct and remove the excuse of I was never told... I didn t know... I was never asked what I thought.. It is a challenge to arrange / assemble / coordinate. It is an opportunity to establish personal responsibility.

6 It is not a complaint session There are times and places for complaints.. this is not one of them It is not a waste of time It is not a time you necessarily win a popularity contest

7 How.. Get interest going (this may not be easy) How..Take the lead (from behind).. volunteer When.. Now is the time to begin preparation for the winter of 2012 / 2013 meeting. When.. Resolve to the fact that preparation is a 12 month process.

11 Take notes / make a record of what needs to be addressed the following year during the current year Get your suppliers involved / let them know what you want them to address Assemble an agenda and keep presenters informed DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!

12 Set a date early / stick to the date Start early arranging speakers / presentation participants Get commitments from participants Keep the participants involved and informed

Buy them pizza DEER HUNTING SEASON Holidays We usually pick a day in the middle of the week for our meeting so the employees that regularly extend their weekends by calling in sick will be more likely to attend
