14 Changes for lorry and bus drivers Since 10 April, the main changes affecting lorry, bus and coach drivers are: Removing the need for 8-forward gear ratios for large test vehicles (category C, C+E) Allowing people who take a lorry or bus test (category C, C+E and D, D+E) in an automatic vehicle to get a manual entitlement for those vehicles if they already have a manual entitlement for cars, lorries or buses, with or without trailers. (any other category except a motorcycle). 14
15 Additionally for your information DVLA have confirmed the following: Vocational drivers who obtained their automatic category C or D before 10 April Vocational Upgrade: Drivers should request the upgrade from DVLA by letter, quoting their full Driver number, full name and address. Letters requesting the update should be forwarded to: VOC DCS CASEWORK D6, DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1ZZ. We recommend Drivers should not send in their Driving licence if in the near future it is required for Driver training, Employment purposes etc. and that they do not include it with their letter. When they receive their new licence they must send their old licence (both parts) to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1ZW. There will be no fee involved. 15
16 Category B+E Just to confirm: Candidates attending in an automatic category B+E vehicle don t receive the manual upgrade. In these circumstances post test the candidate will receive restriction code 78 in column 12 against category B+E. 16
