30 2016 Clean Up Days Costs $ 68, Dumpster days costs $13, Total 2016 Trash Clean up costs $ 81, Issues faced during city cleanup. The large volume of trash put out every year. It s getting worse every year. You don t know what is buried in the pile that could be a hazard to the employees. Stuff not being on the curb like it s supposed to be. It s on driveways, yards or cars parked in the way and we have to drag it out by hand. You don t want to damage someone s property because they didn t put it where it s supposed to be. People putting stuff out after we have already gone down their street or have already left the area and they call and say we missed their house and want us to come back and pick it up which we do as a courtesy. Illegal Dumping on vacant lots around the City. Illegal garbage remains in front of some houses. This year was AFTER dumpster days.

31 Below is the Occupational Safety and Health Standards from OSHA Based on 10 workers the cost (app) would be to the City: IV. Level D - A work uniform affording minimal protection: used for nuisance contamination only. The following constitute Level D equipment; it may be used as appropriate: 1. Coveralls. $ $1, Gloves.(1) $ $ Boots/shoes, chemical-resistant steel toe and shank. $1, $2, Boots, outer, chemical-resistant (disposable).(1) $ $ Safety glasses or chemical splash goggles.(1) Already provided 6. Hard hat.(1) Already provided 7. Escape mask.(1) $ $ Face shield.(1) $ $ Total Cost: $2,650-$4,850 per year This does not include hepatitus shots or the appropriate training. Per City of Fountain Safety and Risk Manager - It is my recommendation that until the City can accommodate all OSHA requirements we cease any further cleanup days. It is in the best interest of the Employees and City to follow the guidelines OSHA has set fourth, prior to any more cleanup activities. It is also my recommendation we send all city employees that came in contact with possible contaminants during the City clean up to be sent for testing of any blood borne diseases.
