1 Parts and Accessories Installation Instructions TV function retrofit kit BMW X5 Series ( 53) These installation instructions are only valid for cars with SA 69 (navigation system) Important information The retrofit kit is for use within the BMW dealership organisation only. Subject to technical modifications. Target group The target group for these installation instructions is specialist personnel trained on BMW cars with the appropriate specialist knowledge. All work must be completed using the latest BMW repair manuals, circuit diagrams, servicing manuals and work instructions in a rational order using the prescribed tools (special tools) and observing current health and safety regulations. Installation information The installation of the aerial is shown on the right-hand side of the bumper, proceed in the same way on the left-hand side of the bumper. Refer to the instructions for use of Sikaflex-. nsure that the cables/lines are not kinked or damaged as you install them in the car. The installed cables are to be secured with cable ties. If the specified PIN chambers are occupied, bridges, double crimps or twin-lead terminals must be used. After the installation work the retrofit TV function must be coded using DISPlus, MoDiC III or GT- via the Retrofit path. Information on operation The TV function is only active when the car is at a standstill. Installation time Approx. -,5 hours, but this may vary depending on the condition of the car and the equipment in it. Pictograms denotes instructions that draw your attention to special features.! To prepare the aerial b a Prepare the aerial as follows: - Knock the arm () flat - Mark dimensions a = 3 mm and b = 4 mm and centrepunch the drilling position () - Drill through the aerial plate at the drilling position () using a 6 mm twist drill bit Z G Install the spacer G on the aerial plate using an expanding rivet F. To install the aerial 3 Place the aerial plate on the interior shell (5) of the bumper as shown: - Insert the journal () between the interior shell (5) and the support (3) - Place the arm (4) on the journal () Z Align the aerial plate so that the spacer G lays on the interior shell () with no stress. Mark the holes () on the interior shell (). G Z! Do not damage the exterior shell of the bumper. Drill through the interior shell () of the bumper (3) in the marked position using a 6 mm twist drill bit. Clean the gluing area () and spacer bush G. Apply Sikaflex- to the spacer G. 3 G Z a Affix the aerial plate and insert the expanding rivet F. Centrepunch dimension a = mm from the opening () and drill through the support (3) with a 4.5 mm twist drill bit at the point you have centrepunched (). 3 F Z Retrofit kit No Installation Instructions No Issue date: 9. 10 6. To install the aerial Secure the capacitor () and earth cable M to the support () using a self-tapping screw H. H M Z H Install the left aerial plate. Secure the capacitor to the support () using a selftapping screw H. Cars without PDC only Fit the cable tie holders K to the existing holes in the support (). Secure the aerial cable (3) to the cable tie holders K with cable ties L. 3 K,L Z Cars with PDC only Secure the aerial cable (3) to the existing cables with cable ties L. 11 7. To install the bumper Cars without PDC only Remove the grommet () Z Insert the cable grommet with the aerial cables () into the opening in the rear closing panel (). Install the bumper Z Cars with PDC only Pull the seals () out of the cable grommet (). Remove the cable grommet () Z Drill two holes with a diameter of 6 mm () on the cable grommet () on the PDC wiring harness Z Retrofit kit No Installation Instructions No Issue date: 9. N/

12 7. To install the bumper 4 Lay the aerial cable (3) through the openings in the cable grommet () on the PDC wiring harness into the boot. Insert the seals (4) into the cable grommet (). Seal the cable grommet () mit Sikaflex-. Install the bumper Z All cars Secure the earth cable M to the bolt on the right exhaust mounting () using a hexagonal nut I. To install and connect the adapter and aerial cables D Insert the video module D into the module holder () Z A3 A4 B Connect branches A3 and A4 on the adapter cable A to the same coloured cables on the video module D. Connect the aerial cables TV B and TV C to the video module D. Install the control module holder. A D C Z Lay branches A5 and A6 to the plug X86 on the radio receiver (). To install and connect the adapter and aerial cables X86 X3648 Cars without a CD changer only Connect branches A5 and A6 to the enclosed natural coloured plug X3648 as follows: - Branch A5, G cable in PIN A5 - Branch A6, BL/G cable in PIN Connect plug X3648 to plug X86. A Z Cars with a CD changer only Connect branches A5 and A6 to the existing plug X3648 as follows: - Branch A5, G cable in PIN - Branch A6, BL/G cable in PIN All cars Connect plug X86 to the radio receiver. Lay the aerial cables B and C to the right-hand side of the car. Lay the aerial cable A to the left-hand side of the car.
