PressureJet is a leading manufacturer of high pressure, positive displacement, reciprocating triplex plunger pumps and relevant accessories. These pumps are most suitable for water jet cleaning, injecting, hydrostatic pressure test, crude oil transfer, reverse osmosis etc. The Company was started by Vishal Shah, a qualified engineer, visionary & self-styled entrepreneur, in the year Team of four young men, rental space of 300 Sq.ft. with 5 H.P. power connection, one personal computer and very few conventional machines, was the humble strength of the company. Started with manufacturing small reciprocating pumps, we could launch number of innovative products due to customer's faith in us, product quality and constant up gradation of product features. The teamwork efforts resulted in company growing & developing by leaps and bounds. Today, PressureJet have a work force of more than 50 dedicated people. We have Sq.ft area in Asia 's premier industrial estate in Ahmedabad. Out of which, 5000 Sq.ft area has been allocated for manufacturing activities, which is having a very unique concept in industry. The company have Full-fledged in house testing facilities to offer quality products to the customers. Power & other facilities are available to test pumps up to 150 H.P. Administration block is spread over 3000 Sq.ft, which is having more than 25 computers network with ERP Solution. Started manufacturing single plunger reciprocating pumps in the name of 'PreciDose Pumps & Systems based on 4 years experience in the same field. Hired a shed of 300 Sq.Ft. Year 1997 Tried Glandless zero leakage Diaphragm pump & failed. Hired another 300 Sq.Ft. shed. Year 1998 Succeeded in Glandless Diaphragm type reciprocating pump & purchase both leased premises. Total shed area 600 Sq.Ft. Year 1999 Year 2000 Year 2001 Year 2002 Year 2003 Year 2004 Year 2005 Year 2006 Started manufacturing small triplex plunger pumps and Electronic Dosing Pumps. Concentrated on Triplex Plunger Pumps: Tested Outside and Supplied 2 Nos. 75 HP to M/s. Godrej, Malanpur, 1 No 700 Kg/cm 2 pump to M/s. KSB Pumps, Pune and 1 No pump of 150-kg/cm 2 pressure to M/s. Gujarat Welspun, Bharuch. At present, all these supplied pumps are working satisfactorily. Purchased 5500 Sq.ft open land for new development activities Built a high-class factory and office building in 5500 Sq.ft. plot having power availability of 120 HP. sold many triplex reciprocating pumps up to 700 Kg/cm 2 for Hydro Test, Reverse Osmosis, Homogenizes, Cleaning, Feeding etc. Shifted to new work premises. During this phase, the company has maintained stagnant growth. Started focusing on high-pressure water jetting pumps and accessories. Developed new 125 HP triplex plunger pump for Rajkot Municipal Corporation and it has been working well. Purchased another adjoining 5500 Sq.ft plot. Imported some cleaning accessories from Italy & taken the trial of the same successfully. Concentrated more on cleaning and hydro test pumps. Supplied pumps having pressure up to 1000 Kg/cm 2 successfully. Visited Italy & France, tied up with some manufacturers over there. Developed pumps & accessories up to 1500 Kg/cm 2. Decided to exploit technical expertise & application engineering to grow at very high scale. Expanded manufacturing and office premises at existing place. Started full-fledged Marketing, H.R., Purchase and General Administration departments. Developed in house training center facility. Targeted at least 4-fold growth in sales turn over in year Company is having more than 25 Personal Computers totally paperless office and ERP system. Entered into technical collaboration With M/S. Leuco S.p.A (Hawk International)-Italy and M/S. Hughes Pumps Ltd.-U.K. With These collaborations, now PressureJet have very large range of high-pressure triplex plunger pumps to be offered for various kind of applications in different industries. Pumps are selected for processes not only to raise and transfer fluids, but also to meet some other criteria. This other criteria may be constant flow rate or constant pressure. 7 INTRODUCTION OF TRIPLEX PLUNGER PUMP We, at PressureJet, manufacture positive displacement, reciprocating, single acting, highpressure triplex plunger pumps. These types of pumps are used for high pressure cleaning applications. These types of pumps use water as a media, so they are known as water jet cleaning pumps. Definitions Positive Displacement: This type of pumps work on "what goes in, must come out" principle. Positive displacement pumps physically entrap a quantity of liquid/ fluid at the suction of the pump and push that quantity out the discharge of the pump. Reciprocating Pump: It converts rotary motion to linear motion. Pump speed in rpm determines the pump s output volume for any given combination of cylinder bore and piston stroke. Single Acting: A single acting pump is one that takes suction, filling the pump cylinder on the stroke in only one direction, called the suction stroke and then forces the liquid out of the cylinder on the return stroke, called the discharge stroke. High Pressure: Plunger Pump: Plunger Pumps are high-pressure positive displacement pumps that "displace" a given amount of fluid on each cycle (stroke) of operation. Triplex Plunger Pump: Term "triplex" (for "three") indicate the number of cylinders a particular pump features. In this type of pumps, three cylinders are used; hence they are known as triplex plunger pumps. 8 CONSTRUCTION OF TRIPLEX PLUNGER PUMP Basically, the 3 plunger (Triplex) pump consists of two main assemblies: 1. The Fluid/ Liquid End 2. The Power End / Drive Unit The liquid end is in contact with the pumped fluid and must be designed to withstand the intended operating pressure and temperature. Following are the main components of liquid end. Cylinder Plunger Stuffing Box Valve Assembly Gland Packing Power end is that portion of the pump in which the rotating motion of the crankshaft is converted to a reciprocating through connecting rods and crossheads. Power end transmits power from the driver, which in the majority of cases is an electric motor. Following are the main components of liquid end. 10 DEFINITIONS OF FLOW, PRESSURE & H.P Flow: The maximum quantity of fluid that can be delivered by any pump in unit time is said to be its rated flow. It s normally mentioned in LPM (liters per minute), GPM (gallons per minute) or m 3 /hr. Pressure: Pressure can be defined as restriction to the flow being delivered by a liquid. Whenever any liquid being pumped is passed through any kind of restriction, its pressure will rise depending upon the flow and through what size of restriction it has been passed through. It is measured in either kg/cm 2 or bar. Horse Power (H.P): Its power required to lift a weight of 33,000 pounds to a distance of one foot in one minute. Hydraulic H.P is defined as the power that will be developed by a pump. It depends upon flow and pressure requirement. Calculation of Hydraulic H.P Below given is equation for finding out the hydraulic horsepower that will be developed by a pump 1 H.P = x Q (Flow in LPM) x 60 x P (Pressure in kg/cm 2 ) Efficiency of a triplex plunger pump is around 85%. Before finding out the motor H.P required, one is also supposed to consider transmission losses that will be occurring when motor power will be transmitted to crankshaft of the pump. These losses will depend upon the type of transmission system incorporated. Methods of Power Transmission 1) Directly Coupled: Herein motor and pump are directly coupled with each other. So rpm of the pump will be exactly similar to that of motor rpm & there will be negligible transmission losses. 2) Belt & Pulley Drive: Here a belt & pulley system will be incorporated to transmit motor power to the crank shaft of the pump. Herein transmission losses will be to the tune of 15%. 3) Gear Box Drive: In this case a gear box is provided to reduce the speed and transmit power to the pump. Losses will be to the extent of 5-7%. 10

11 Example: Lets see one example of how to find out suitable prime mover (electric motor) for a particular pressure-flow combination. Suppose one particular application demands a flow of around 10 LPM and pressure of 1200 kg/cm 2. Party wants to incorporate belt & pulley system with pump operating at around RPM. First of all calculate hydraulic H.P Hydraulic H.P required will be H.P = x 10 x 60 x 1200 = Now efficiency of our pump is around 85%. So divide the figure by 0.85 first That comes out to be equal to / 0.85 = Now transmission losses in case belt & pulley arrangement will be around 15%. So divide the above obtained figure by So, required H.P = / 0.85 = Hence an electric motor of 40 H.P will be required for this model. Note: 1) Losses are always calculated on rated pressure and flow of a pump & not on its operating parameters. For e.g.: if our model PC-12 (rated flow-10 LPM and pressure-1200 kg/cm 2 ) is operated at a pressure of 800 kg/cm2, then in this case also we have to add transmission losses equal to 15 % of pressure of 1200 only though the pump will operate at ) In case one requires diesel engine instead of electric motor as a prime mover, then we have to consider additional losses of 25-50% depending upon the application the system will be used in. 3) Conversion Table 1 GPM = 3.8 LPM 1 Kg/cm 2 = PSI = 0.98 Bar 1 KW = 0.75 H.P 11
