4 VIETNAM ASEAN WORKING GROUP ON LEGAL METROLOGY (WG3) MATRIX INFORMATION ON LEGAL METROLOGY REGIME IN ASEAN Registration of approved pattern The patterns of all weighing and measuring instruments for trade use have to undergo pattern testing (Evaluation by the Vietnam Metrology Institute, VMI). All approved patterns will be entered into the Register of Approved Patterns of Weighing and Measuring Instruments. Verification of weighing and measuring instruments Post Market Surveillance All weighing and measuring instruments for use for trade shall be verified by verification organization (Verification license issued by the STAMEQ). Instrument meeting the prescribed requirements are stamped and certified fit for trade used. Inspectors of Standardization, Measurement and Quality have the general supervision and all the powers and discretion under the Ordinance on Measurement and Inspection Law.
