10 PRE INSTALLATION Check contents Separate all parts from the packaging and check each part with the Pack contents section. Make sure all parts are accounted for before discarding any packaging material. If any parts are missing, do not attempt to install your touch free soap dispenser until you obtain the missing parts. Warnings Do not install the system facing a mirror or any other electronic system operated by an infra-red sensor. To prevent reflection problems, it is recommended to keep a minimum distance of 1.50 meters between the soap dispenser and any other objects. Important: Keep in mind that the location of the user hands, while using the tap nearby should not interfere with the soap dispenser sensor detection area. BC 633 Dolphin Dispensers 5

11 INSTALLATION Step 1 Remove all mounting hardware Remove the hexagonal nut, the disk and the gasket from the base of the soap dispenser body. Recommended hole size Step 2 Installing the soap dispenser 1. Place the soap dispenser body along with the bottom ring into the hole in the deck or lavatory. If you have purchased the touch free soap dispenser together with a bottle support kit, please follow parts 2-6, if not please proceed to part Unscrew the two screws at the top of the soap dispenser pump. 6 Dolphin Dispensers BC 633

12 INSTALLATION 3. Assemble the pump to the bottle support using the supplied screws. 4. Fix the bottle support to the desired location. 5. Assemble the tube from the pump to the soap dispenser. BC 633 Dolphin Dispensers 7

13 INSTALLATION 6. Connect the extension cable. 7. Slide the disk and gasket over the soap dispenser body nipple and secure the hexagonal nut. 8. Screw in the nut at the top of the soap dispenser pump assembly to the soap dispenser body nipple. 8 Dolphin Dispensers BC 633

14 INSTALLATION Step 3 - Connecting the power source Important: this product was supplied with a self adjusting sensor. The ideal sensor range for the specific location will be set automatically. Right now, check that no objects are in front of the sensor. 1. a. Connect the motor connector. b. For battery versions: install the battery box at the wall underneath the sink and connect the battery connector c. For transformer versions: plug the transformer into the electricity socket and connect the transformer connector d. Remove the protective sticker covering the sensor immediately after connecting the transformer \ battery connector. Keep away from the sensor range. a. b. c. d. 2. 15 FILLING THE SOAP TANK 1. Unscrew the soap tank from the pump assembly. 2. Fill in the liquid soap up to the top line. 3. Only: if you have a bottle support kit, insert the bottle with the tube inside the bottle support. 4. Screw the soap tank back to the pump assembly. Make sure the tank is secured firmly in place. 5. Press the refill button located at the back of the pump assembly until soap starts coming out of the soap dispenser spout. This operation can also be done using the soap dispenser remote control Refill function. Note: Once the soap in the soap tank has reached the bottom line the soap tank should be refilled. 16 REMOTE CONTROL Settings adjustement with a remote control If desired, use the remote control to adjust the soap dispenser settings. Hold the remote control straight in front of the sensor in a distance of about 6-8 (15-20cm). Choose the function you want to adjust by pressing on the function button as following: 1 Soap Quantity The 1-4 drop keys allow the user to choose the desired soap quantity to to to to 2.3 Indication: continues blink of the red light in the sensor eye. * The exact soap dosage depends on the soap viscosity. 2 Adj This function allows coming back to soap quantity factory settings. Press the ADJ button. Indication: 2 blinks of the red light in the sensor eye Temporary Off Function This function is ideal to perform any kind of activity in front of the sensor without operating the system (for example, cleaning). The soap dispenser will remain shut for 1 minute when this button is pressed once. To cancel this function and to return to normal operation press the On/Off button again or wait 1 minute. Indication: OFF 2 fast blinks, ON 4 fast blinks 4 Refill The Soap Tank Once the soap in the soap tank has reached the bottom line at the soap tank, it should be refilled. To do it, Unscrew the soap tank from the pump assembly and fill in the liquid soap up to the top line. Screw the soap tank back to the pump assembly and make sure the tank is secured firmly in place. Press the FILL button. The pump would work for one minute in order for the soap to start coming out of the soap dispenser spout. To stop this activity press the FILL button again. 17 BATTERY REPLACEMENT Battery models only When the battery weakens, the red indicator light will blink at a constant rate when the user s hands are within the sensor range. The battery must be replaced within two weeks. To replace the battery in battery models: 1. Carefully open the battery box 2. Remove the old batteries 3. Replace the used batteries with new D batteries NOTE: Do not mix used batteries with new ones. 4. Close the box. Important: Spent batteries should not be disposed of with normal household waste. 18 MAINTENANCE Care and cleaning of chrome and special finishes DO NOT use steel wool or cleansing agents containing alcohol, acid, abrasives, or the like. Use of any prohibited cleaning or maintenance products or substances could damage the surface of the soap dispenser. For surface cleaning use ONLY soap and water, then wipe dry with a clean cloth or towel. When cleaning bathroom tiles, the soap dispenser should be protected from any splattering of harsh cleansers BC 633 Dolphin Dispensers 13

19 LIMITED WARRANTY Dolphin Dispensers. warrants that its electronic products will be free of defects in material and workmanship during normal use for two years from the date the product is purchased. If a defect is found in normal use, Dolphin Dispensers will, at its discretion, repair, provide a replacement part or product, or make appropriate adjustments. Damage caused by accident, misuse, or abuse is not covered by this warranty. Improper care and cleaning will void the warranty. Proof of purchase (original sales receipt) must be provided to Dolphin Dispensers with all warranty claims. Dolphin Dispensers is not responsible for labor charges, installation, or other incidental or consequential costs other than those noted above. In no event shall the liability of Dolphin Dispensers exceed the purchase price of the product. If you believe that you have a warranty claim, contact your Dolphin Dispensers, Dealer or Plumbing Contractor. Please be sure to provide all pertinent information regarding your claim, including a complete description of the problem, the product, model number, the date the product was purchased, from whom the product was purchased and the installation date. 20 TROUBLE SHOOTING PROBLEM INDICATOR CAUSE SOLUTION No soap coming out of the spout Red light in the sensor flashes and the motor is operating. Red light in the sensor does not flash when user s hands are within the sensor s range. Soap has run low or completely out. The soap tank has been filled but soap has not reached the spout. Sensor is picking up reflections from the washbasin or another object. Connectors between the electronic unit and the pump assembly \ transformer are disconnected or not properly connected. Refer to page 4 and refill the soap tank. Press the refill button located at the bottom of the pump until soap starts to come out of the spout again. Eliminate cause of reflection. Connect the electronic unit connectors to the pump assembly and transformer. Soap coming out from the spout does not stop The black connector between the pump assembly and soap dispenser are not connected all the way through. Connect the black connectors all the way through. 22 Recommendations for liquid soap usage in Dolphin stainless steel (and brass bodied) soap dispensers. Warranty Providing soaps in accordance with the following recommendations are used, Dolphin grant one years warranty against manufacturing defects after putting the dispensers in operation. Recommendations for soap We recommend synthetic soaps with the following specifications: Anionic tensides: 30% Non - anionic tensides: 9% Perfume/oil/alcohol or similar: 1% Ph - value 8.0 ± 0,5 Animal or vegetable fat/oil: 1% Viscosity: ca cps (and should be pourable rather than globular or globular in consistency) Liquid soaps that do not satisfy the specification mentioned above, are not suitable for usage in Dolphin soap dispensers. Soaps containing Bronapol are no longer common but we suggest they should be avoided due to its aggressive natures as a chemical. Attention Never use disinfectants, harsh antibacterial (not conforming to above specification) or alcohol based hand rubs in our dispenser. These types of products may destroy the gaskets of the soap pump even after short term use. We cannot allow any warranty claims caused by usage of these substances. For replacing of destroyed gaskets upgrade sets are available from Dolphin. Only our purpose designed disinfectant dispensers are suitable for usage of disinfectants or soaps with disinfectant ingredients! If you are looking for guidance on sourcing a specific brand of soap then please see links below to three soaps that have been put forward by Selden Research as suitable. Seldon Soaps have been helpful in formulating this guidance on soap specifications and whilst Dolphin don t necessarily stipulate Selden Soaps for use in Dolphin products nor guarantee results if Selden Soap is used, their soap is widely known and available and the C038 soap has been used in trials of Dolphin soap dispensers successfully. Selden Soaps are also helpful with respect to technical back up. 24 Dolphin Blue Infrared Systems DESIGNING A WASHROOM INCLUDING DOLPHIN BLUE INFRARED SYSTEMS Dolphin Blue Infrared Taps, Shower Controls and Urinal Flush Valves offer significant water and energy savings. However, there are some simple DO s and DON Ts and TIPs which will help avoid 99% of the situations often associated with infrared systems for washrooms. It should be noted that these details are not exhaustive but will help eliminate 99% of situations. It is recommended that for larger projects especially where design restraints will result in taps being set on minimum or maximum settings, we would advise a very simple mock-up be set with materials to be used to ensure infrared device operates as desired. DO s BATTERY BACK UP DO include a battery back-up device when installing a transformer powered infrared tap in an accessible washroom. SECURITY TIME DO ensure security time is set at approximately 20 seconds on infrared taps especially in locations susceptible to vandalism. Also important: to be set at 20 seconds to comply with ECA/WTL scheme. FLOW RATE DO specify what flow rate is required when placing your order. Taps 6 litre / minute is standard. 4 litre / minute is readily available. Shower head 9 litres/ minute is standard, 8 litres / minute is available. Please speak to the Dolphin Technical Helpline for other flow rates if required. PRESSURE DO ensure the static and dynamic pressure at the Dolphin Blue device is within the tolerances stated on the product literature / data sheet (please ask if you cannot find it). Most devices are tested to operate between 0.5 and 8 bar. If pressures are outside the stated tolerances please contact the Technical Helpline on FILTERS Do ensure filters supplied with the Dolphin Blue device are installed. It may not be sufficient to rely on the filters often included with thermostatic mixing valves as the gauge of the filter mesh may not be fine enough. It is also important to ensure pipes are flushed prior to connection and filters are inspected on a regular basis. Time between inspections will depend on hardness and quality of water. DISTANCE FROM TRANSFORMER It is recommended you ensure the maximum distance between a Dolphin Blue Infrared Tap and its power source is 5 metres.

25 DON Ts MIRRORS It is not advisable to locate a Dolphin Blue Infrared device directly opposite a mirror where the infrared eye faces the mirror in such a way that it could reflect itself as this can cause false activations even if the mirror is 2-4 metres away from the infrared eye. PANEL MOUNTED INFRARED TAPS It is very important to ensure the distance between the sensor and the bottom of basin when installing a panel mounted Dolphin Blue Tap with an integral sensor is a minimum of 300mm above the bottom of the basin. TWO INFRARED TAPS It is not advisable to locate infrared taps directly opposite each other where the infrared eyes face each other as this can also cause false activations even when there is a fair distance between them. Minimum 300mm distance critical POLISHED TRAPS AND SINK SURFACES When installing a Dolphin Blue Panel Mounted Tap with an integral sensor it is recommended that you avoid a highly polished chrome trap or sink surface it will act like a mirror to the tap sensor, potentially causing false activations and wasted water TIPs HIGH VISIBILITY CLOTHING Avoid polished/ chrome strainers It is a feature of most infrared devices in the washroom market that the reflective strips on high visibility clothing may cause the device to operate, even if someone just walks past, with no intention of using it. The DB51 Dolphin Blue Remote Control can be used to reduce the range of a device to reduce these false activations but may not eliminate the phenomena completely.
