2 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS WARNING! When using electric tools basic safety precaution should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and personal injury. Read all these instructions before attempting to operate this product and save these instructions for future reference. 1. Keep work area clear. Cluttered areas and benches invite injuries. 2. Consider work area environment. Do not expose tools to rain. Do not use tools in damp or wet locations. Keep work area well lit. Do not use tools in the presence of flammable liquids or gases. 3. Guard against electric shock. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces. 4. Keep other people away. Do not let others, especially children, not involved in the work touch the tool or the extension lead and keep them away from the work area. 5. Store idle tools. When not in use, tools should be stored in a dry locked-up place, out of reach of children. 6. Do not force the tool. It will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was intended. 7. Use the right tool. Do not force small tools to do the job of a heavy duty tool. Do not use tools for purpose not intended: for example: do not use portable metal cutting to cut tree limbs or logs. 8. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery they can be caught in moving parts. Non-skid footwear is recommended when working outdoors. Wear protective hair covering to contain long hair. 9. Use protective equipment. Use safety glasses. Use face or dust mask if cutting operations create dust. 10. Connect dust extraction equipment. If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collecting equipment, ensure these are connected and properly used. 11. Do not abuse the cable. Never pull the power cable to disconnect it from the socket. Keep the cable away from heat, oil and sharp edge. 12. Secure work. Where possible use clamps or a vice to hold the work. It's safer than using your hand. 13. Don't over reach. Keep proper footing and balance at all time. 14. Maintain tools with care. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean for better and safer performance. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories. Inspect power cables periodically and if damaged have them replaced by an authorised service facility. When not in use, before servicing and when changing accessories such as blades, bits, cutters, disconnect tools from the power supply. 16. Remove adjusting keys and wrenches. From the habit of checking to see that keys and adjusting wrenches are removed from the tool before turning it on. 17. Avoid unintentional starting. Ensure switch is in 'off' position when plugging in. 18. Use outdoor extension leads. When the tool is used outdoors, use only extension leads intended for outdoor use and so marked. 19. Stay alert. Watch what you are doing, use common sense and do not operate the tool when you are tired. 20. Check damaged parts. Before further use of the tools, it should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check the alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting and any other conditions that may affect its operation. A guard or other part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorised service centre unless otherwise indicated in this instruction manual. Do not use the tool if the switch does not turn on and off. 21. Warning. The use of any accessory or attachment other than one recommended in this instruction manual may present a risk of personal injury. 22. Have your tool repaired by a qualified person. This electric tool complies with the relevant safety rules. Repairs should only be carried out by a qualified person using original spare parts, otherwise this may result in considerable danger to the user. Safety Rules For Sanding Operation. When using the belt disc sander be aware of the dust emitted from the operation. Where possible use dust extraction as described in this manual. Using a 13 mm spanner loosen (do not remove) the four bolts shown in diagram. Loosen 9 This allows the belt assembly to drop sufficiently to remove the old belt and replace with a new one. Once the new belt is fitted lift the assembly as high as possible and tighten the four bolts up using the 13 mm spanner. Check the belt tension by placing fingers on either side of the belt and squeeze. Correct tension will allow 6 mm movement in belt. Replace the belt cover.

5 CHANGING THE SANDING BELT Ensure the machine is isolated from the mains supply: Slide the belt tensioning lever (item 9 on page 5) to slacken the belt. Unscrew the knurled bolt from the side of the belt table and remove. Unscrew the two black knobs which hold the rear fence on the belt table, and remove. The sanding belt can now be removed from the table. Follow this procedure in reverse order to replace with new belt. GETTING TO KNOW YOUR SANDER Continued a TRACKING THE BELT Once a new belt has been fitted it is likely that the belt will require tracking to keep the belt running central to the table. To do this rotate the black knob (whilst the disc sander is running) as indicated in the diagram, turning clockwise or anticlockwise until the belt runs centrally on the table

6 CONNECTION TO POWER SUPPLY ASSEMBLY Continued... CONNECTING TO THE POWER SUPPLY: IMPORTANT: The saw is fitted with a UK style 13A Plug with a 13A fuse. If it needs replacing use a new plug and follow these instructions. The wires in the plug are coloured in the following way: Blue Neutral Brown Live Yellow/Green Earth As the colours of the wires may not correspond with the markings in your plug, proceed as follows: The wire which is coloured blue, must be connected to the terminal marked with N or coloured black. The wire which is coloured brown, must be connected to the terminal, which is marked L or coloured red.. Always secure the wires in the plug terminal carefully and tightly. Secure the cable in the cord grip carefully. WARNING: Never connect live or neutral wires to the earth terminal of the plug. Only fit an approved 13 Amp BS1363/A plug and correct rated fuse. If in doubt consult a qualified electrician. NOTE: Always make sure the mains supply is of the correct voltage and the correct fuse protection is used. In the event of replacing the fuse always use a 13A fuse. FIXING THE DISC SANDING PAD: Remove the two screws securing the lower disc guard. Peeling backing of disc align the perimeter of the sanding disc over the plate. When aligned, press sanding disc firmly onto the disc. Replace the lower disc guard ASSEMBLING THE DISC SANDING TABLE: Loosen the four screws, holding the two brackets either side of the sanding disc. Slot the pivot pins of the sanding table into the holes on the side of the brackets. Now tighten the four screws securing the two brackets either side of the sanding disc. Using two black knobs attach the arched slots onto the brackets ensuring the arched slots pass into the slotted holes on the base of the disc sander. SEE DIAGRAM BELOW: ASSEMBLY For your convenience the belt disc sander is supplied with very little final assembly to do. Before commencing further assembly secure the sander to either a work bench or to the belt disc sander cabinet. Using the four bolts around the base of the unit. 6 7
