2 USAGE GUIDE NOTE: This HydraPump has been designed to operate on Volt, 60 Hz exclusively. Using any other voltage or Hz adversely affects performance. IMPORTANT: Keep this guide for future reference. CAUTION: Be sure to review SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FIRST PERTAINING TO THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRICAL SHOCK OR INJURY TO PERSONS before using the pump. TOOLS AND MATERIALS YOU MAY NEED Absorbent cloth or HydraTowel for clean up and maintenance Standard hoses for the outlet PTFE tape, sometimes this is referred to as plumber s tape o This item is recommended to put on the outlet connection but not required. 3 SITE PREPARATION Make sure your work area where you intend to use the pump is clear of clutter and is well lit. Never operate a submersible pump in a pool when people are in the pool. The pump is designed to pump water and has only been tested for that purpose. The pump can be used with clean and dirty water but the cleaner the water the better the pump will operate. Lastly, please not that the pump will only pump water at approximately 1 or deeper. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS INSTRUCTIONS PERTAINING TO THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK OR INJURY TO PERSONS. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. WARNING When using electrical pumps, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following: 1. Read all instructions before using the pump. 2. To reduce the risk of injury or improper operation, close supervision and thorough setup verification is recommended for safe pump operation. 3. Do not put fingers or hands into a water pump inlet our outlet when operating. 4. Unplug the power before attempting to move or service the pump. 5. Do not let the electrical connection come in contact with water. 6. For proper grounding instructions see the ELECTRICAL CONNECTION portion of this manual. 7. If you are unsure of any of these instructions please contact a professional for assistance.

4 OUTLET AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS OUTLET CONNECTIONS On the outlet of this pump there are two types of connections. The first connection is a ¾ garden hose (GHT) connection and the second is a 1 NPT standard connection. See figure below: For improved outlet flow larger hoses or adapters can be attached. The GHT connection can be cut off for installations requiring the 1 NPT connector. The NPT threads can also be removed and a hose clamped to the remaining connector. Finally, the entire hose adapter can be unscrewed and a 1½ pipe or hose can be directly attached to the pump outlet. Note: When removing the larger connections from the adapter be careful not to damage the threads that you are going to use.

5 GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS THE WATER PUMP IS EQUIPPED WITH A GROUNDED PLUG-IN POWER CORD. This pump must be grounded so that in the event of a malfunction or breakdown there is a reduction in electrical danger. Grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This pump is equipped with a cord that is a grounded plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate GFCI outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances. ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS A. Connect pump to Volt, 60 Hz AC current only. B. Use a three prong plug, see figure below: CAUTION: Do not allow the electrical cord plug, or electrical outlet to come into contact with water, this may result in serious injury. If unsure of how to install or use the electrical connections of this pump consult a licensed electrician.

6 PUMP INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS INSTALLATION The following steps should be taken before operating the pump 1. Connect a flexible hose or stationary pipe to the outlet port of the pump. PTFE tape, or plumbers tape is recommended to be used on the connections for an extra tight seal. 2. When the pump is in its location of operation, insure that it is resting flatly on the bottom surface and will not experience suddenly movement during operation. a. The pump can rest on some silt or debris since it will only draw down to 1 water height. 3. Make sure that the connection end of the power cord is safely out of the water and will not come in contact with the water during operation. 4. Set the float switch position but first note that the pump will operate when the float is up or the non-corded end is up. a. If a specific height is required for operation, the float switch can be tethered using the notch on the handle. Alternatively it can also be attached using a clamp or tie wrap to a stationary mount. b. After the float has been set, always test to make sure that the desired operation is being achieved. OPERATING Once the pump is installed it only needs to be plugged in to operate. The pump should not be left to operate if it is not pumping water since this may damage it. For situations where the float switch is being used, depending on the tether location, there will need to be enough water to trigger the float to activate the pump. While the pump does have safety features it is always important to verify functionality of the pump. Make sure when using the float, that the float turns the pump off and on as expected. WARNING: This pump is water cooled and recommended to operate at water temperatures below 82 F but not below 32 F or in an icy environment. CAUTION: Water and electricity do not mix. Make sure to continuously check that the power connections and cables to make sure they are not in contact with water. Consult a professional if you have any questions or concern about the electrical circuit or pump operations.

8 MAINTENANCE MAINTENANCE GUIDELINES This submersible pump is a maintenance-free high quality product. However, regular inspections and cleaning of the pump are recommended and will ensure longer pump life and uninterrupted operation. RECOMMENDATIONS Before performing any maintenance unplug the pump for safety For occasional usage, pumping with clear water for a few minutes after each use is recommended to clean out any debris. For stationary installation, the float switch should be checked at least every three months. o Check to see that the pump is still resting in water and not mud. Excess debris will need to be removed from the pit before the pump is installed for long term operation. COPPER WINDING All fibrous particles and debris that have built-up inside the pump housing should be removed. A water jet, if available, would make this a quicker job. Remove deposits on the float switch IMPELLER CLEANING If excessive deposits build up in the pump case it will impair operation and the pump will need to be dismantled for cleaning. Unplug the pump then dismantle and clean the impeller by doing the following: 1. Remove the intake cage from the pump case 2. Clean the impeller with clean water. CLEAN B IF IMPELLER CLOGGED WARNING: Do not put the pump down or rest it on the impeller or it may become damaged 3. Assemble the pump in reverse.
