VF-45 Socket Termination Kit Get your hands on a Volition VF-45 Socket Termination Kit from 3M and you will have everything you need to quickly and easily install Volition VF-45 sockets onto duplex fiber optic cable. Cable and fiber strippers, polishing and socket assembly fixtures, and inspection viewer all fit in a micro pouch that can be clipped onto a tech s belt. The termination kit works in concert with the snap together design of the socket to eliminate most of the steps and labor associated with traditional fiber optic terminations. With the VF-45 socket termination kit, you can complete fiber installations faster and easier; duplex fiber terminations can be performed in less than two minutes. CLEAN UP YOUR ACT. Maintenance Cleaning Kit The Volition Maintenance Cleaning Kit from 3M keeps VF-45 fiber interconnects located within wall boxes, patch panels or electronic equipment, clean and operating at a just installed optical performance level. The system consists of a spray bottle of Volition HFE-Based Cleaning Fluid designed for cleaning VF-45 sockets and plugs. HFE-based cleaning fluid is non-flammable and non-conductive. The maintenance cleaning kit is a convenient, effective and quick way to clean fiber end faces, without disassembly from face plates or panels.

Preparation of Volition Horizontal and Backbone Cable includes the stripping of duplex fibers for termination with VF-45 sockets (3M VOL-0001). Simultaneous duplex termination saves labor and speeds installation. The Polishing Puck Assembly, Polishing Station Base, and Lapping Film provide for fiber end face preparation to the specified length and finish for termination with VF-45 sockets (3M VOL-0001). The Swabs and Wipes are used for cleaning, while the View Scope is used for inspection of the optical fibers following the termination process, ensuring a high yield of VF-45 terminations for high performance. Installation Notes When planning large installations, calculate 500 terminations of the VF-45 socket per package of : Lapping Film 25 Discs Cotton Swabs 100 Discs Lint Free Wipes 100 Discs The Puck Polishing Face will wear slightly or may become clogged over hundreds of terminations, and is replaceable when needed. The Scribe Blade Assembly will wear with use. Typical blade life is 1,000 terminations. The blade edge may wear prematurely due to harsh handling or stressful conditions.
