2 TYPICAL INSTALLATION MATERIAL RETURN 34 OR LARGER BLEED TYPE AIR SUPPLY VALV AIR REGULATOR 3/4( NPT AIR INLET THROAT SEAL LUBRICANT CUP AND ADJUSTABLE PACKING GLAND MATERIAL SUPPLY DRAIN VALVE " NPT OUTLET NPT INTAKE - INSTALLATION WARNING This pump, using the maximum recommended air pressure of 90 PSI (6.3 bar) will develop a full 4050 PSI (83.5 bar) material pressure at its outlet. To safely handle this potentially hazardous pressure. in a system, you must use accessory hoses, swivels, guns, etc. that are capable of withstanding this pressure. NEVER exceed 90 PSI (6 bar) air supply to the unit. Install a drain valve near the pump outlet so you can release fluid pressure before servicing system components. The dimensional drawing on the back page gives measurements needed for installing pump on a custom designed mounting. Accessory wall bracket and air regulator are shown on page 6. Use 38 in. bolts, lockwashers and nuts to attach pump firmly to mounting. Whenever flammable materials are being pumped, connect a ground wire to pump air motor. Loosen grounding lug locknut and washer, insert one end of a ga.5 mm') min. ground wire into slot in lug and tighten locknut securely. See Fig. Connect the other end of wire to a good ground, such as a steel building column or water pipe. See ACCESSORIES on page 6 for available ground wire and clamp. Connect an air supply hose of at least 34 in. ID to 34 NPT(F) air inlet union. Connect your material hose to pump's in. NPTIF) outlet. Connect material supply line to the / in NPTIF) intake of pump. If you want to route exhaust air to outside area, remove exhaust port plug and connect exhaust to hose. Exhaust port size is 4 in. NPT. Plug the 6 exhaust holes in base with 4 in. self-tapping screws, in. long. See TYPICAL INSTALLATION. LO be properly grounded to prevent static discharge and sparking, which could cause fire or explosion. Use only conductive or grounded air and material hoses, and be sure that your compressor is properly grounded. Ground the pump as explained below. OPERATION Flush Pump Before Using Pumps are tested with light mineral oil, which is left in to protect pump parts. To prevent contamination of material, flush pump with a compatible solvent before using. If pump is being used to supply a circulating system, allow solvent to circulate for at least 0 minutes. Lubrication and Care of the Pump In a direct supply system. when the pump is supplied with sufficient air pressure and volume (see TECHNICAL DATA on back page), it will start and stop automatically when the material valve is opened or closed. In a circulating system;it will run continuously and speed up or slow down as supply demands until air supply is shut off

3 Use an air regulator to control material pressure and pump speed. Always use the lowest air pressure necessary to give you the results you want. Refer to page 6 for accessory Graco regulator. You should also install a bked twe air valve in air SUDD~V line for use in case of hose fgiure and when servicinng pump. See TYPICAL INSTALLATION. Check Valva Adjustment The piston and intake check valves are set for low volume, spray viscosity material. To set the valve for heavier viscosity material or more volume, move the ball stop pin to a higher set of holes, increasing the check ball travel. Refer to SERVICE SECTION on page 3 for disassembly instructions. Keep the wet-cup filled with Graco Throat Seal Liquid ITSL) and check tightness of packing nut weekly. Packing nut should be tight enough to prevent leakage-no tighter. See Fig Always shut off and relieve air pressure to pump and relieve material pressure before adjusting packing nut. Never allow the pump to run dry of material being pumped. A dry pump will quickly accelerate to an excessive cycle rate, possibly resulting in costly damage to the equipment. If your pump accelerates quickly, or is running too fast, stop it immediately and check the material supply. If the supply has been exhausted and air has been pumped into lines, reprime pump and lines with material, or flush and leave filled with compatible solvent, being sure to eliminate all air from'system. For overnight shutdown, shut off and relieve air pressure and relieve material pressure by opening dispensing valve and drain valve. Always stop the pump at the bottom of its stroke to keep material from drying on the displacement rod. Always flush the pump before the material dries. If the pump is to be stored for any period of time, and you are pumping water based material, first flush with water, then with mineral spirits solvent to protect the pump parts. If pump starts when air is turned on again, the line, etc., is clogged. '"See for parts and service. Check all other possible remedies for disassembling pump

4 DISPLACEMENT PUMP SERVICE Intake Valve If the intake valve is seized in the pump housing, squirt penetrating oil around threads and tap around housing with a hammer. Then screw the valve out of the housing. See Fig 4. Take the ball stop pin out and remove the O-ring retainer, O-ring and ball. Clean all parts and inspect them carefully for wear or damage. Reassemble the valve using new parts as necessary and screw it back into pump housing. Piston, Sleeve or Displacement Rod Screw the intake valve out of pump housing, and loosen tie rod lock nuts. Disconnect displacement rod from air motor by unscrewing coupling nut and tie rod lock nuts. Loosen packing nut and push displacement rod. down until piston "flats" are clear of housing. Loosen piston, and pull piston and rod assembly out of housing. Screw piston out of the rod and remove ball, packing retainer, packings and glands. Clean all parts and inspect them carefully for wear or damage. Check the rod carefully for nicks, scratches or wear. Use new parts where necessary and reassemble piston, packings and ball into displacement rod; torque to ft Ib (03-37 N.m). Soak new leather packings in light oil until pliable. Inspect sleeve in housing for score marks. If it needs replacing, be sure to install new sleeve with tapered end down. If you can't remove it easily, contact your nearest Graco Factory Branch or Service Depot. Throat Packings Screw the intake valve out of housing and take out the piston and rod as explained above. Then screw the packing nut out of housing and take the packings and glands out of cavity. Soak new leather packings in light oil until pliable and always use new glands with new packings. Put new packings and glands into cavity one at a time, making sure they "nest" properly. Reassemble pump in reverse order of disassembly. Check tie rods to be sure that they are tightened securely into air motor base, assemble connecting rod to air motor and screw lock nuts loosely onto tie rods. Tighten packing nut just snug. With pump running slowly, tighten tie rod lock nuts evenly to ft Ib (47-68 N,m), then tighten packing nut just enough to stop leakage - no tighter. Fig
