In ddition, if the ccessory prt is not instlled nd hndled properly s set out in these instlltion instructions, no clims under the gurntee will be ccepted by BMW AG. Instlltion instructions The ccessory rer pron should be instlled by two people. Plce the ccessory rer pron ginst the vehicle before pinting it, check tht it fits nd djust it slightly if necessry. Lever out the cover for the towing eye, remove the tpe from the stndrd bumper nd prepre it for pinting. Sfety instructions It is essentil to ensure tht ny mechnicl work or pinting does not destroy the mrking in the rer pron or render it illegible.the mrking is locted on the inside t the bottom right. Pinting instructions The rer pron is supplied redy-primed nd must undergo the pproprite pre-tretment. In ddition the cover for the towing eye on the stndrd bumper must lso be pinted. Refer to the BMW pinting instructions. Procedures The rer pron is mde of PUR-GF5. Pint it using BMW crylic pint +30% softfce dditive. Mximum temperture for stoving 40 C. Tools nd equipment required Stright slot screwdriver Philips screwdriver / inch reversible rtchet / inch extension / inch Torx socket T 50 /4 inch reversible rtchet /4 inch extension /4 inch sockets, sizes 8 mm nd 0 mm Torque wrench Hmmer Split pin driver Allen key, size 4 mm EN/-3

6 . Instlltion Notes Refer to the sfety instructions in section. Preprtions Remove the rer wheel rch trims on both sides. Remove the til lights on both sides. Remove the registrtion plte nd the registrtion plte light. Remove the stndrd rer pron using repir mnul No Unfold folded pge -9 A Remove the securing pins from the expnding rivets () nd lever out the expnding rivets (). Tke the luminium support () out of the stndrd rer pron (3). Plce the luminium support () into the ccessory rer pron nd secure it with the expnding rivets (). If necessry use the new expnding rivets from the prts kit. US models only Remove the side reflectors from the stndrd rer pron nd instll them in the ccessory rer pron. B Plce the complete ccessory rer pron () into the side mountings on the cr nd position it. Secure the ccessory rer pron () on the impct bsorbers (5) with the stndrd bolts (4). Tightening torque = 4 Nm. Check the spcing of the ccessory rer pron () from the body nd djust it if necessry. Desired spcing = 5 mm ± 0.5 mm. If necessry djust the spcing between the ccessory rer pron () nd the body s follows: Loosen the plstic nuts (size 0 mm) on the side mountings nd position the mountings ppropritely, then tighten the plstic nuts (size 0 mm). C Other method for djusting the gp between the ccessory rer pron () nd the body: Remove the ccessory rer pron () nd djust the spcer bushes (see rrows) in the impct bsorber (5) ccordingly using 4 mm Allen key (6). The djustment cn be mde on both impct bsorbers. Plce the ccessory rer pron () into the side mountings on the cr nd secure it (see Figure B). Check the gp ll long the pron nd repet the djustment work if necessry. D Plce the smll spcer bush (c) between the ccessory rer pron () nd the body (7). Secure the ccessory rer pron () to the body (7) using the hexgonl screw (d), the body wsher (e) nd the flnge nut (f) supplied in the prts kit. This work is shown on the left-hnd side of the cr, proceed ccordingly on the right-hnd side. The stndrd clips re not required, the dmpers between the body nd the ccessory rer pron re still needed nd my hve to be replced if necessry. E Instll the wheel rch trims on both sides. Plce the spcer bushes (g) between the wheel rch trim (8) nd the ccessory rer pron (). Bolt the ccessory rer pron () to the wheel rch trim (8) using the fillister hed screw (i), the wsher (h) nd the flnge nut (f). This work is shown on the right-hnd side of the cr, proceed ccordingly on the left-hnd side. Clip the cover for the towing eye into the ccessory rer pron using the tpe. Instll the registrtion plte light nd the registrtion plte in reverse order to their removl. -/EN
