25 Page 24 of 24 TRAILER PLUG WIRING SPEC The use and installation of all trailer plugs, wiring, fuse blocks, connections and accessories shall conform to the following specification criteria: Trailer plug - shall have PIN TYPE CONNECTIONS capable of coupling to Grote female connectors ( note : spade connections are not acceptable ) shall be Grote installed after market and wired as coded. shall be a six (6) pole socket with enclosed terminals OR Trailer Wiring Harness - Preferred Grote connector, wired into a fused fixed OEM trailer wiring harness Fuse block - shall be 6 fuse, Grote # or EQUAL - ( O E M preferred ) wired as per Figure 1, shown below. ( note : in line fuses are not acceptable ) Fuse block shall be mounted in a readily accessible location Fuses shall be 10 amp automotive type. Wiring from trailer plug to fuse block - shall be 14 gauge, 6 conductor trailer cable. Cable shall be routed along vehicle frame and properly secured using Outdoor Black cable ties Wiring from fuse block to vehicle main wiring harness - shall be 14 gauge wire. shall be wired and fused so that the vehicle s main electrical system is independent from all peripheral electrical systems ( towing electrical system, etc. ) All electrical connectors - shall be crimped and soldered then sealed using heat shrink tubing.
