Basic design The ALC40 series of snap-in capacitors feature the same high ripple currents and long life characteristics as the ALC10 series but can operate at higher temperatures. Safety vent A safety vent for over pressure is featured on either the base (opposing end to the terminals or on the the side of the can. This is in the form of a grooved section on the surface of the can which is a weakened area and is designed to relieve build up of internal pressure due to over stress or catastrophic failure.
