Wire Caution Tape Long ½ & ¾ Extensions Galvanized Nipples Custom Temp Adapters NOTES: This is the inventory that I am currently keeping on my service truck. In my market, at least 99% of all systems are piped with PVC. It's rare that I encounter Polyethylene in ¾ and larger sizes, and my inventory reflects that. Poly in the ½ size is found on nearly every system, however, so I keep a lot of those fittings. You're probably going to need to alter this to fit your market. You'll notice that I have a mixture of Hunter, Rain Bird, Toro, and Irritrol parts that I carry. I have specific reasons for the exact mix that I keep on hand. There's very little quality difference between these manufacturers, so mostly the choices come down to what's already been installed in my market, and what's currently available to me at the parts suppliers. My personal mix also speaks to the choices that I have to make in the repair business, some things get rebuilt, some always get replaced. Some markets may require you to keep several different brands of sprinkler heads & nozzles, depending on the variety in the field and how finicky your customers are. Each manufacturer has a chart of how to replace their competitors' heads so that flow and precipitation rates match, if you want to homogenize all your clients' systems. The green column is the price that I charge my customer for the part. Some contractors charge the retail price for heads, valves, timers, etc. For PVC parts, there's not much

8 difference between contractor price at the professional parts distributors and the big box hardware stores. Large contractors that install a lot of systems can get better pricing with large volumes. For smaller repair companies, you may want to figure out a percentage of upsell on the parts that reflect the amount of time and effort that it takes to acquire your parts. The less parts that you carry on your truck will result in more trips to the parts store, which will dramatically increase your real cost of acquisition. I keep three different 12 sprays so that when possible, I can just change out the guts rather than dig up and replace the whole head. I almost always completely replace 4 sprays and rotors. All valves are 1. Occasionally I'll get into a run of commercial properties and then I may keep some specific 1½ valves around. These are all the major PVC parts. I also keep another box of oddball parts. Sometimes I'll go through the shelves at the big box hardware store and pick up one or two of the weird things that I don't even know the use for. At some point, I will see the weird situation that the part is brilliant for.
