1 CELEBRATING 50 YEARS FACTBOOK 2008
2 NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY-ALAMOGORDO 2008 FACTBOOK The NMSU at Alamogordo 2008 Factbook is produced by the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (OIRA) on behalf of the entire college community, and is intended to provide the user with a single source of accurate information about historical student enrollment and institutional data. The information also appears on an accompanying website: < The 2008 Factbook continues publication of basic institutional information that was begun by previous NMSU-A institutional research offices more than a decade ago. Space limitations have prompted us to limit the number of years of information we publish. Most of the data included in the 2008 Factbook goes back at least 10 years. If earlier information is needed, please contact us. This publication is the result of the ongoing work of many people in addition to the OIRA staff, originating with students and employees throughout the NMSU system who fill-out the forms and enter the information into the University data systems. NMSU-A personnel at Student Services and the Budget Office daily enter much of this information, always with a high degree of accuracy and reliability. This year s publication, both in the print and web versions, is largely the result of the work of OIRA staff member Greg Hillis. He brings considerable programming and database management skills to bear on this project. The consistency and high reliability of the long-term data used in the Factbook has been due to the work of Joe Downey, a Retired Senior Volunteer, who devotes many hours each week helping respond to the requests for information the OIRA receives from both within the institution and from the larger community we serve. We hope the Factbook information is useful for the many people involved with NMSU-A, including faculty, current students, prospective students, parents, law-makers, community leaders, state officials, administrators, and anyone who is interested in this part of the world and what we do at NMSU-Alamogordo. Please let us know if this information, in its print or web versions, meets your needs or can be improved in any way. We encourage all comments or questions. D. Bruce Martin, Ph.D. Coordinator of Institutional Research and Assessment July, 2008
