1 GROUND JOINT FITTINGS Ground joint fittings are for heavy-duty applications such as steam, air supply for construction, roadbuilding, and drilling applications. The coarse threads make G29 couplings easy to couple in the field, and the heavy wing nuts can be tightened using a hammer or mallet. Collars on the hose stems are designed for use with G29C interlocking clamps. Typical hose assemblies will have G29S stems and G29N wing nuts on both ends fastened with G29C clamps. Hose lengths can then be joined using G29DS double spuds. Male and female spuds are used to adapt to pipe thread ends on valves, pipe fittings, or manifolds. Ground joint fittings are made from plated ductile iron. Small size stems are plated carbon steel and small double spuds are brass. Sizes above are made from ductile iron. All G2S series stems are zinc plated. 4 UNIVERSAL FITTINGS Universal fittings are designed to offer a quick connection on air hoses, typically for jackhammer and similar applications. To ensure that couplings are fully connected, and to prevent accidental disconnection, safety clips should always be used. Universal couplings are rated to 1 psi under Mil. Spec. A-A-5955, however our two lug universals will handle 150 psi air or water. These fittings are not designed for steam service. 5 DOUBLE-LOCK QUICK ACTING COUPLINGS TWIST-LOCK COUPLINGS Double-Lock Couplings offer maximum protection against accidental disconnection. All hose ends feature locking sleeves. To disconnect, the sleeve must be pulled back and the fitting rotated at the same time. For even additional protection, users can insert a spring-lock clip into the coupling that must be removed to allow disconnection. Brass fittings are available on special order. They easily connect with a simple push and twist assisted by locking grooves on the sleeve body. Twist-Lock couplings seal at positive pressures as low as psi to a maximum operating pressure of 00 psi and can be interchanged with similar Bowes and National products. The oilresistant nitrile rubber gasket fits any size coupling and expands to prevent costly air leaks. These zinc plated couplings provide full air flow for efficient tool operation.
