COATING PROCESS A cataphoretic primer coat (such as in the automotive industry) and an epoxy-polyester coating applied electrostatically ensure a perfect finish in a variety of contemporary colours and structures. Vasco offers a 10 year factory guarantee on the products being water-proof and 10 years on the coating for radiators used in normal conditions and for heating systems for hot water. The factory guarantee only applies if NO modifications are made to the product. Vasco accessories, used in combination with Vasco radiators, are guaranteed for years. Vasco is also ISO 9001 and ISO certified, which is your assurance of a constant care system for quality, the environment and safety. DECLARATION OF PERFORMANCE All of our products conform to the new, tighter European construction regulations, which took effect on 1 July 01. As a result, all of our radiators are CE certified. A Declaration of Performance (DoP) for all of our individual products is available at EURO-NORM EN 44 5/5/0 C ( T50) means: 5 C entry water temperature, 5 C exit water temperature and 0 C room temperature. 90/0/0 C ( T0) means: 90 C entry water temperature, 0 C exit water temperature and 0 C room temperature. 55/45/0 C ( T0) means: 55 C entry water temperature, 45 C exit water temperature and 0 C room temperature.

ENERGY EFFICIENT AND SUSTAINABLE BY NATURE Aluminium radiators save a lot of energy. They conduct heat up to four times more efficiently than any other radiator. They can reach the desired temperature in any room by using up to a five times less water. They work well with low temperature systems such as solar water heaters and condensing boilers. And they score well in terms of sustainability, because aluminium is 100% recyclable and can be endlessly reused while retaining its specific properties. PRACTICAL, SAFE, EASY Aluminium is extremely practical. It is three times lighter than steel. 168 18 Electric radiators MIXED AND PURE ELECTRICAL RADIATORS Electric radiators USE ENVIRONMENT FOR ELECTRICAL RADIATORS Vasco electrical radiators may be used in the bathroom in volumes and (see schedule below). After all, the radiators are Class II devices. This means the radiators have and need no earthing. To calculate the consumption of an electrical radiator, all you need to know is the radiator s wattage. Example: 1000 Watt radiator. This has an electrical capacity of 1kW. The radiator therefore consumes 1kWh an hour. This applies, of course, if the radiator is working at full capacity throughout the whole hour. This is seldom the case in practice. After all, the radiator switches itself off once it has reached the required temperature. If you know the price of 1kWh, you can now calculate what the radiator costs in electrical energy. The electrical resistors are always mounted in the right-hand collector. The controller should always be mounted at the bottom right. GUARANTEE on electrical components: years This only applies when combined with a Vasco radiator. The guarantee is null and void in the event of wrong usage. There are two kinds of electrical radiators: Mixed radiators (central heating (CH) or electrical functioning) Pure electrical radiators NOTE: For safety reasons we advise against free-standing electrical or mixed radiators.

169 Electric radiators MIXED RADIATORS GENERAL Mixed radiators are radiators that can be used individually for heating via the central heating system or to heat electrically. These radiators are highly suitable in spring and autumn when the central heating boiler is usually not working. You can then choose to heat electrically. Ideal for use in the bathroom. 181 E-PANEL (EP-H-FL, EP-H-RIB, EP-V-FL) 181 ASSORTMENT A wide range of E-PANELs is available, with capacities suited to each home. There are horizontal models, ranging from 500 W to 000 W. Their height is always 00 mm, their length varies from 500 mm to 100 mm. There is also a vertical model from 150 W. The height is 1800 mm and the length 00 mm. The radiators are available in white (RAL 901), and you can choose between a corrugated horizontal version (EP-H-RIB) and a flat horizontal version (EP-H-FL). 186 18 Technical POSSIBLE CONNECTION SYSTEMS Technical 1. POSSIBLE CONNECTION SYSTEMS 1.1. ONE-PIPE SYSTEM Radiator Radiator Radiator System with copper or plastic pipes Collector Collector supply return Radiator Radiator Radiator This is the system most commonly used in contemporary home construction. You start with a collector, where every radiator has a separate supply and return pipe. supply return Boiler 1... System with steel pipes Radiator Radiator Radiator A one-pipe system was often used in home construction in the 190s and 1980s.It is a series circuit of radiators. The return water from the previous radiator is the supply for the following radiator. To ensure that the water temperature is high enough in the following radiator, you need to use a valve with a bypass. The bypass mixes the radiator s return water with hotter supply water, so that the temperature of the water serving as supply for the following radiator will be higher. A maximum of 50% of the hot supply water can be mixed. We offer the mm valve set for a one-pipe system. This has an adjustable bypass. Boiler supply return This system was commonly used in the 1980s. In this system, two steel pipes are placed around the exterior walls of the house. One pipe is used for the supply water and the other for the return water. Each radiator is connected to these pipes separately. ø 1/ front view side view rear view 9 D ø /4 E E E E E 109 Note: The output of radiators is always indicated at 5/5/0 C. As the supply temperature for the following radiators is lower (than 5 C), a correction factor is employed to define the correct output of the radiator. You can find this factor in the table of correction factors on p. 19. The full system, therefore, has to be calculated correctly so that there is compensation for the heat loss. 1.. TWO-PIPE SYSTEM There are two different systems: 1. With copper or plastic pipes. With steel pipes D D 1.. 187 Technical POSSIBLE CONNECTION SYSTEMS 18 BATHROOM RADIATORS One-point connections can be used for a standard bathroom radiator. With a one-point connection for a bathroom radiator, the flow tube fitted in the factory needs to be removed before fitting the one-point valve. Note: If there is no flow tube in the radiator, it cannot be connected via a one-point valve. The one-point valve needs to be fitted with a jet or injection pipe. This should be a minimum of / of the height of the radiator. The valve needs to be of a where the supply water flows through the jet or injection pipe and it can be fitted in either the left- or right-hand collector, according to preference. A one-point connection can be used for both a one-pipe and a two-pipe system. DESIGNER RADIATORS One-point connections for designer radiators should be specified when ordering. Radiators with a vertical collector (Viola Horizontal) With a one-point connection, the diameter of the valve injection pipe should be indicated when ordering (10, 11, 1 mm). The one-point is also possible only with connection number 1 or 8. The one-point valve needs to be fitted with a jet or injection pipe. This should be a minimum of / of the height of the radiator. Technical The length of the jet pipe must be a minimum of / of the height of the radiator. Plinth radiators (Primula) A one-point connection is possible in the following connection numbers:,, 1 and 8. When fitting a one-point valve to the plinth radiator, make sure the jet pipe reaches to a minimum of 10mm (x) past the partition S. One-point valve for a one-pipe system (not included in the Vasco) air vent x S Supply water can be mixed directly with in the return via the bypass. For a two-pipe system, the bypass system should be closed. The valve is chiefly used for radiators with a horizontal collector. air vent S x This one-point valve has no bypass and is therefore unsuitable for a one-pipe system. The valve is chiefly used for radiators with a vertical collector.

188 188 Technical POSSIBLE CONNECTION SYSTEMS Technical Radiators with a horizontal collector (Viola Vertical/Tulipa Vertical/Veronica Vertical) With a one-point connection, the diameter of the valve jet pipe should be indicated when ordering (10, 11, 1 mm). A one-point connection is possible in the following connection numbers: and. When fitting one-point valves to radiators with horizontal collectors, make sure that the jet pipe reaches to a minimum of 50 mm past the middle of the radiator. Note: The partition with the cylindrical hole is always in the middle of the lowest collector so that the jet pipe usually needs to be lengthened. Tulipa/Veronica with one-point connection: The insert can be pre-adjusted exactly. The radiator with integrated valve is already fitted in the factory. To connect the radiator to the heating pipes you need a standard H block. This is not included in the Vasco range but is available from wholesalers. The supply is always on the inside of the radiator. If the radiator with integrated valve is used in a one-pipe system, then you need to use a bypass set. This is not included in the Vasco range but is available from wholesalers. INTEGRATED VALVE FOR THE VIOLA HORIZONTAL (Available as from 4 tubes on) Viola Vertical with one-point connection: INTEGRATED VALVE FOR THE NIVA HORIZONTAL The Niva Horizontal is supplied (no extra charge) with an integrated valve as standard (always on the right side). The connections are 50 mm apart and have a ¾ outer thread (Euroconus). The supply should always be connected to the 50-mm connection on the left side. The connections are at 50mm distance from each other in the centre at the bottom of the radiator. The supply must always be connected to the right. INTEGRATED VALVE FOR THE ZAROS HORIZONTAL The Zaros Horizontal is supplied on demand with an integrated valve (always on the right side). The connections are 50 mm apart and have a ½ inner thread. The supply should always be connected to the 50-mm connection on the right side. The insert will have to be fitted in connection. INTEGRATED VALVE FOR THE FLATLINE chrome + grey accent code 4 only applicable to Niva Soft 901/S00 stainless steel + grey accent code 5 only applicable to Niva Soft 901/S00 For FlatLine and Niva Horizontal no codes should be specified. The Vasco designer valve set is supplied with an attractive designer thermostatic head as standard. When using the Vasco designer valve set, the supply needs to be connected to the right of the valve (see indication on valve). When using a flow tube, it should always be fitted to the supply side. If you connect the supply to the left, the designer valve will not work. Copper without support cover Pressure loss diagram for designer valve se PEX/multilayered Solution: Fit a reverse header, but the pressure loss over the valve will be greater (see diagram for reverse header p. 190). This is important for the hydraulic balance. Pre-adjustment Depending on the required pressure loss, you can set the valve in accordance with the diagram for the designer valve set adjacent. The Vasco designer valve set is suitable for two-pipe systems (not one-point systems). The two connections can be shut off entirely so you can wallpaper or service the radiator without having to empty the entire central heating system. To turn off the connection, it is best to first fit the plastic cap, supplied as standard, on the valve on the thermostatic head side and then shut it off.
