1 RP Series Regulators Introduction The RP Series regulators are direct-operated with non-balanced trim. Normally they are fitted with a built-in filter. They are produced in the following versions: Types RP/011, RP/022, and RP/033. All models can be fitted with a shutoff valve. 10 Type RPE Electric Pilot Heater Introduction The Type RPE is used for reheating gas supplying pressure reducing regulator pilots. The Type RPE avoids the inconveniences caused by freezing which occur during large pressure drops. There are two versions of the Type RPE: Electrical Pilot Heater The Type RPE (with a heating element) is installed with the thermometer in the vertical position and is affixed to the actuator bolts of the regulator. A thermostat and power relay must be installed in a non-explosive risk zone. Regulator Bottom Electrical Heater This version is normally used for relief lines. The Type RPE is assembled with four screws to the bottom of the regulator. The Type RPE can be installed in a hazardous atmosphere. The Type RPE must be installed between the pilot filter and the pre-expansion relay. The Type RPE is in conformity with the Directive for Equipment or Protective System intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres 94/9/CE. It is classified under group II, Category 2. 12 S200 Series Pressure Reducing Regulators Introduction The quick-reacting S200 Series pressure reducing service regulators are typically used in industrial or commercial installations to minimize the shock effect of sudden downstream load changes that might otherwise activate safety shutoff equipment. In such an installation, where gas consumption varies from almost nothing to several thousand standard cubic feet or normal cubic meters per hour (SCFH or Nm³/h), snap-acting solenoid valves can cause sudden load changes. In addition, the S200 Series has an internal relief to provide overpressure protection in case of main regulator failure. 22 S203 Series Pressure Reducing Regulators Introduction The quick-reacting S203 Series pressure reducing service regulators are typically used in industrial or commercial installations to minimize the shock effect of sudden downstream load changes that might otherwise activate safety shutoff equipment. In such an installation, where gas consumption varies from almost nothing to several thousand standard cubic feet per hour (SCFH), snap-acting solenoid valves can cause sudden load changes. The resulting shock pressures and regulator instability can cause safety equipment to shut the installation down. But with an S203 Series regulator, transmission of shock loads to downstream equipment is reduced, thereby helping maintain downstream pressures within desired limits. In addition, the S203 Series has an integral monitor regulator that works independently of the main regulator to provide overpressure protection in case of main regulator failure. 27 S208/S209 Series Regulators with Integral Slam-Shut Device Introduction The quick-reacting S208/S209 Series pressure reducing regulators are typically used in an industrial or commercial installation to minimize the shock effect of sudden downstream load changes. The S208/S209 Series regulators have the same basic construction as the S200 Series regulators. The Type S209 regulators have limited capacity internal relief across the diaphragm to help minimize overpressure. Both the Types S208 and S209 are available in high pressure versions, Types S208H and S209H. The Type VSX-2 provides downstream overpressure (OPSO) or overpressure (OPSO) and underpressure (UPSO) protection by shutting off the flow of gas to the downstream system. 49 Types SR, SRS, STP, and STL Silencers for Pressure Regulators and Regulating Installations Type SR A special reactive built-in silencer (no deadening materials are employed) made of a great number of plated and suitably dimensioned stainless steel wires. This is a solution providing a good result in noise reduction. When crossing the silencer steel wires the gas flow is split, many micro vortexes are created, thus turbulence bubbles as well as shock waves are reduced. The efficiency of Type SR silencer is kept very high up to a theoretical velocity of 262 ft/sec. (80 m/sec.) in the outlet flange; the C g reduction is by about 3% and noise reduction is typically 12 db(a). Type SRS Type SR silencer, combined with a wider outlet flange, allow to exceed the limits set by velocity. In the outlet flange there is a second silencer made of a first reactive section and a second section with multiple chambers. Noise reduction is based on the principle of stream splitting and expansion division in several stages. The use of a wider outlet flange allows the introduction of the silencer and the installation of the regulator directly into the downstream piping without making use of expansion joints which cause a noise increase. Features Reduces Noise and has an Excellent Cost / Benefit Ratio Filters Recommended to Prevent Erosion or Damage from Foreign Particles This silencer, being efficient under all working conditions, presents the advantage to reduce the length of the turbulent mixing area, and the noise propagation along the downstream piping. Typical noise reduction reaches 22 db(a) without limiting the velocity in the outlet flange. The C g reduction is by about 15%. Type STP Absorption type silencer made of one or more porous channels surrounded by deadening material. The sound penetrating the absorbing layer is then converted into heat by friction. This type of silencer prevents noise propagation along the piping. It is normally introduced downstream the Type SRS silencer and produces a further noise reduction by 10 db(a). This type of silencer is suitably dimensioned in order to satisfy working needs and obtain noise reductions without jeopardizing capacity values. Type STL These silencers have been specially developed to be introduced into T couplings of pipings. They are reactiveabsorption mixed type silencers and allow not to experience any noise increase in the T coupling and get a noise reduction in the downstream piping. A suitable dimensioning of the silencer and downstream manifold allows not to experience significant power losses and thus capacity values are not jeopardized. 58 V/50, V/60, and V/20-2 Series Spring-Loaded Relief Valve Introduction The automatic spring-loaded relief valves are designed to keep line pressure below preset values. They are mounted downstream of regulators and perform the specific function of releasing small amounts of gas in the event of the regulator not closing properly. Thanks to their effective release capacity and compact size, the V/ Series relief valves are ideal for use in civil and industrial equipment employing natural gas, propane, butane and non-corrosive gases in general. The valves are extremely easy to install and are designed for ready and easy maintenance. The V/50 and V/60 Series relief valves are especially designed for use with low pressures. Special care and attention has been given to their construction features in order to ensure a very low hysteresis value as well as maximum operation accuracy and sensitivity. 63 Y600A Series Pressure Reducing Regulators Introduction Maximum Inlet Pressure The Y600A Series direct-operated, spring-loaded regulators provide economical pressure reducing control in a variety of commercial and industrial applications. The large diaphragm area provides more accurate control at low pressure settings, and the pitot tube of the Type Y600A or Y600AR regulator also creates a dynamic boost that helps provide greater capacity. The Type Y600A features internal registration. The Type Y600AR has internal registration and relief.
