2 2 HISTORIC PROFILE A Bugatti Supercar With a carbon fiber body executed with scientific precision coupled with a 3.5-liter, 60-valve V12 engine the EB110 Supersport Le Mans can go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.94 seconds. The late twentieth century saw the advent of a new kind of supercar: extremely powerful, fast, exotic, and experimental vehicles designed for an elite market of car connoisseurs. In an era of supercars that included Lamborghini, Lotus, Maserati, and Ferrari, Italian entrepreneur Romano Artioli resurrected the Bugatti marque as Bugatti Automobili SpA, setting a new standard for speed, power, and aesthetics. A new design center and factory were built in Campogalliano, Italy, a region that was also home to several other high-performance car manufacturers. The ultimate supercar, the EB110 SS was sculpted by engineers, designers, and stylists rather than fabricated as a machine. Artioli assembled a pantheon of supercar designers, and engineer Paolo Stanzani and car stylist Marcello Gandini,

3 3 who worked together to design the Lamborghini Countach, were selected to craft the EB110. Architect Giampaolo Benedini, who wanted a body style that was representative of the old marque, oversaw the final styling of the car. HISTORIC PROFILE The EB110 SS in the Mullin collection is one of three Le Mans versions that were prepared for the Hours of Le Mans race. It was retooled with an upgraded engine for race use, and it is significantly lighter and more aerodynamic, with bodywork made of aluminum, carbon and Kevlar fiber.

4 4 OWNER HISTORY The Japanese collector Yoshiyuki Hayashi once owned this EB110 SS Le Mans, as did former racecar driver Bruce Canepa. Peter Mullin acquired the car from Bruce Canepa in 2008 to round out his collection of the Bugatti marque. Because it is in the United States strictly for display purposes, it has no title documents, which cannot be obtained without meeting certain highway safety and EPA requirements.
