1 ICSCC Memo #9, November 2004 The Official Publication of the International Conference of Sports Car Clubs In This Issue: Results of Races #11 Portland, Sept. 25/26 and #12 Seattle, Oct. 2/3 Final Points Banquet Announcement & Reservation form What an exciting conclusion to our race season at Pacific Raceways, October 3 rd. It was a pleasure to see so many close and undecided championships coming down to the final race of the year. I know of at least ten classes where the championship was up for grabs. Some classes even had as many as three drivers in position to be potential champions depending upon the final race results. ICSCC has 48 championship classes, but eleven did not have enough entries this year to qualify for year-end trophies. This meant almost 30% of the eligible class champions were not known until the end of the final race of the year. I feel this demonstrates that our championship points system is fair and working well. It should be noted that next year we will have 49 championship classes. One of our six provisional classes, Sport BMW, met the requirement to achieve championship status this year. For those drivers who participate in the five remaining provisional classes (GTA, CS2, F2, GTP and Baby Grand), if your class does not average 2.5 entries per race in 2005 it will be removed from provisional class status. Reapplication and E-Board approval must occur to continue as a provisional class. The running of the 29 th Annual 8 Hour Cascade Enduro completed our 2004 race season. We now move into what I call our second season. The second season means different things to different individuals. For drivers it means getting the car and bank account ready for next year, rebuilding or maintaining relationships with your significant other (so you can go racing again) and bench racing. For club officials and volunteers it means planning, budgeting, recruiting (aka arm twisting) and a host of other things to prepare for next season. At the Conference level President s Message it means the Fall, Contest Board and ROD meetings to finalize 2004 and decide what improvements will be made for next season. Please notice the use of the word improvements in my previous sentence. I chose it instead of changes because any changes that are made in our Competition Regulations, Policies and Procedures Manual or anything else regarding our activities is done with the purpose and intent of improving your racing experience with ICSCC/Member clubs. ICSCC and the Member clubs fully understand you have a choice about where to spend your racing time and money and we all thoroughly appreciate your choosing our organizations. Finally, it is also now time to celebrate, and I would like to personally invite each and every one of you (especially the Mac, Alan & Shelly Russell family) to the 2004 Awards Banquet on November 13 th at the Sea-Tac Marriott in Seattle. Jeanine Bowl is the 2004 Banquet Coordinator and has chosen this year s theme of Friends between Checker and Green. From my own family s standpoint we could not imagine a more fitting theme. If you are a driver or worker receiving an award, you owe it to yourself to come and receive the recognition you so richly deserve. Remember, these awards are given out because you earned them and not just because we like you. Drivers, workers, crewmembers and family members - this is a great opportunity to celebrate the past racing season and show your appreciation and support.
