4 General data ydro Pack Alications Grundfos ydro Pack booster sets are designed for boosting of clean water in small waterworks small blocks of flats hotels stores industrial lants, hositals schools large houses. General descrition The Grundfos ydro Pack booster set consists of a Grundfos CV um mounted on a base frame, and a controller incororating motor rotection (three-hase only). A searate diahragm tank must be installed in connection with the booster set. The um oerates automatically according to the system requirement by means of a ressure switch. The ressure switch is factory-set to zero bar inlet ressure and can be adjusted according to the hydraulic conditions of the uming system. The ydro Pack booster set is sulied as a comlete, re-assembled and tested system (without tank). ydro Pack booster set includes discharge comonents, five-way fitting, ressure switch and controller (three-hase only). Tank and dry-running rotection are available as accessories. To ensure stable oeration, the booster set must be connected to a searate diahragm tank of a suitable size, installed on the floor, see "Pressure tank" age 9 and "Tank selection" age 2. If water is drawn from a reservoir below the um, a non-return valve in the suction ie is required. Oerating conditions Liquid temerature: C to +4 C. Ambient temerature: C to +4 C. Maximum oerating ressure: 1 bar. Maximum oerating ressure = maximum inlet ressure + um head. The maximum oerating ressure is limited by the characteristics of the booster set. The maximum oerating ressure may also be limited by the tank installed. Number of starts/stos er hour:1. Minimum inlet ressure: The minimum inlet ressure in meters head required to avoid cavitation of the booster is calculated as follows: = P b x NPS - f - v - s P b = Barometric ressure NPS = Net Positive Suction ead in metres head f = Friction loss in suction ie s = Safety margin of minimum.5 m. When, consequently, the ressure dros to the cut-in ressure level, the um will be cut in until the erformance of the um corresonds to the requirement. When the water consumtion falls and the discharge ressure reaches the cut-out ressure level, the ressure switch will cut out the um. Oeration Single-hase versions The ressure switch of the single-hase variants has an on/off switch. Motors have built-in thermal switch ON/OFF switch Pressure switch Three-hase versions Aart from the ressure switch for automatic oeration, the three-hase versions incororate a CS 13 controller with the following oerating buttons: main switch start and sto ush buttons Furthermore, the ydro Pack booster sets feature: Automatic circuit breaker rotecting the motor against short circuit and overload. 11 General data ydro Dome Alications Grundfos ydro Dome booster sets are designed for boosting of clean water in small waterworks small blocks of flats hotels stores industrial lants hositals schools large houses General descrition The Grundfos ydro Dome booster set consists of two identical Grundfos CV ums mounted in arallel on a common base frame and a control cabinet incororating motor rotection and controller. The ums oerate automatically according to system requirement by means of two ressure switches. The ressure switches are factory-set to zero bar inlet ressure and can be adjusted according to the hydraulic conditions of the uming system. ydro Dome booster sets are sulied as comlete, reassembled and tested systems (without tank). The ydro Dome booster set includes suction and discharge manifolds, isolating valves, ressure gauge, non-return valves, ressure switches and controller. Tank, dry-running rotection and overressure rotection, alarm and emergency kit are available as accessories. To ensure stable oeration, the booster set must be connected to a diahragm tank of a suitable size. See "Pressure tank" age 19 and "Tank selection" age 2. The booster set is designed for two tanks each of 24 litres connected to the discharge manifold. An additional diahragm tank can be installed on the floor in order to fulfil the oerating conditions of the uming system. Oerating conditions Liquid temerature: C to +4 C. When a ta is oened, water is drawn from the diahragm tank. When the ressure dros to the first cut-in ressure level, the first um is cut-in. As the consumtion rises, the second um will be cut in until the erformance of the two ums in oeration corresonds to the requirement. When the water consumtion falls and the discharge ressure reaches the cut-out ressure level, the controller will sto the um which was cut-in first. As the consumtion falls, the second um will be cutout. Oeration Single-hase versions The single-hase versions are controlled by the CS 21 controller. The CS 21 controller features the following functions: Automatic cascade control of ums by means of two ressure switches Automatic change-over at any start/sto cycle Main switch, os. 1. 13 General data ydro Dome Three-hase versions CS 23b controller The three-hase versions are controlled by the CS 23b controller, featuring the following functions: Automatic cascade control of ums by means of two ressure switches. Automatic change-over at any start/sto cycle. Main switch, os. 1. Selector switch for each um with two ositions: Off/automatic oeration, os. 2. Push-button for each um: Manual oeration or resetting of alarm, os. 3. Time control: Sto delay of the last um: Kees the last um in oeration 1.5 sec. after cut-out ressure is reached in order to avoid a simultaneous sto of the two ums. -After-run delay: Kees ums in oeration 1.5 sec. when the cut-out ressure is reached. -Start delay: Prevents simultaneous start of the two ums. 20 Tank selection ydro Pack ydro Dome Pressure tanks To ensure stable oeration, the booster sets must be installed in combination with a diahragm or bladder tank. ydro Pack The five-way fitting has two R 1 threads. One is for the tank and one is for the discharge ie. An 8-litre tank is recommended but this caacity can be otimized according to the system conditions. ydro Dome The discharge manifold is equied with two 1 ball valves for installation of two 24-litre diahragm tanks, each of a maximum diameter of 33 mm. If this tye of installation is not used a bigger tank must be installed on the floor in combination with the booster set. The tank caacity can be calculated as follows: Caacity Q 1 ( 1 + ( Cut in) + ) V = -- 4 n max k V = Tank volume (litres). Q = Mean flow (m 3 /h) of one um only. = Difference between cut-in and cut-out ressure.
