2 Page 2 of 8 Introduction Welcome to the Mini Sport Junior Mini Cup. The Junior Cup is based on the Mini with an engine of 998cc and registered before The only modifications allowed will be those stated in these technical regulations. The vehicle must comply with the general historic rally car technical regulations details of which can be found on the attached link and MSA regulations for Historic Stage Rally Cars. Each car built will be checked for conformity to these technical regulations and given a unique chassis plate to identify that the vehicle conforms to the regulations. The car must be built using the basic safety and preparation kit which will only be available from Mini Sport. For the car to be eligible for the Mini Sport Junior Mini Cup it is mandatory that it is built using this kit supplied by Mini Sport in its entirety. Cars presented for eligibility inspection where it is evident that the kit has not been used to build the car it will not be accepted into the Junior Mini Cup. General Preparation The team at Mini Sport have 50 years experience in the servicing, tuning and preparation of Minis for all types of competition use. There is not much that they don t know about how to get the best out of your Mini within the regulations for the Junior Mini Cup. 3 Page 3 of 8 Safety & Body shell modifications The basic car must be registered before The shell and panels must not be lightened in any way except for the removal of underseal and sound deadening pads. The shell may be strengthened by seam welding. All panels and closures must be of steel construction. No composite panels will be allowed. The shell must be of sound construction and fitted with a Safety Devices multi-point cage as supplied in the Mini Sport safety and preparation kit. The cage can either be a bolt in or weld in type. In the case of the weld in cage it must conform to the MSA regulations for Historic Stage Rally Vehicles and it must be fitted by an approved Safety Devices Installation Company and a receipt for the work to be kept as proof of the work being completed. A list of approved Safety Devices Installers can be found on their website. Care should be taken to ensure all mounting points are of sound construction. The shell should be fully painted with no panels in primer. Minimum weight of the complete car inclusive of crew and crash helmets is 850kg. Competitors may be subjected to weight checking throughout any event at any time, from the start of the first stage to completion of post scrutineering. Any car inclusive of crew below 850kg, at any time during an event will score 0 points for that round. Cars and crews MUST be made available to be weighed at any time during any championship event. Drivers who refuse to comply with these rules or in the opinion of the technical officers are below the minimum weight of 850kg, will forfeit points for that round and any other round the enforcing team consider necessary. 4 Page 4 of 8 Engine Must be based on the 998 cc A Series or A+ Mini engine with a maximum overbore The maximum compression ratio is 10:1 (excludes cooper cylinder heads). 2 cylinder head bolts and 2 adjacent gearbox to engine bolts must be drilled with holes of a diameter of 1/16th inch so that the engine can be sealed if required. The rotating parts may be balanced but not lightened in any way. The crankshaft may be toughened through heat treatment and the journals reground. The camshaft must be the standard 998cc version but a Vernier timing gear is allowed. Rockers must be the standard ratio. The distributor must remain as standard with points and condenser. Electronic ignition is NOT allowed Cylinder head must be originally from either a 998 A or A+ series Mini engine. There are only 2 options available. Either the head assembly (i.e. including valves, springs & rockers) must remain as standard with no modifications whatsoever or alternatively a modified cylinder head to the following specification can be purchased from Mini Sport Part Number HED998.S3.RDHRCR on an exchange basis. This head is ported and polished but retains the standard inlet manifold locating rings The valve sizes are; inlet 29.25mm, exhaust 25.42mm. If you wish to use a modified head IT MUST be the one supplied by Mini Sport. The only carburettor eligible is the SU HS4 type, which is available from Mini Sport as an individual item. This item must NOT be modified in any way. The air filter is free and the use of a stub stack or ram pipe is permitted. Inlet manifold is free but must conform to MSA Historic Regulations. The flywheel can be lightened and balanced with a minimum weight limit of Kg. A steel billet type is permitted but must have the same minimum weight of 4.028kg, Mini Sport part number C-AEG619 or C-AEG620, dependant on clutch arrangement. The technical team reserve the right to instruct the competitor, to take his/her car to the Mini Sport rolling road for a power check, at any time. THIS WILL BE AT THE REGISTERED COMPETITORS EXPENSE.

5 Page 5 of 8 The exhaust manifold & system must either remain as standard or can be replaced by an LCB manifold and straight through twin box rally system as supplied by Mini Sport (the maximum noise level is metre). Transmission The gearbox must originate from a Mini or Metro with standard gears. Straight cut gears, and dog boxes are not allowed. The differential ratio is free but it is forbidden to fit a limited differential or other torque limiting device. The transfer gears must remain as standard. A strengthened 4 pin differential is permitted and can be purchased from Mini Sport. The clutch is free providing it retains the same operating principle as the standard item. A competition clutch assembly will be available from Mini Sport. Brakes The car must use Cooper S front discs, calipers (cast iron) and pads as supplied in the safety & preparation kit. The rear brakes must use the standard Cooper S Mini brake drums (cast iron) and the rear brake shoe material is free. The brake lines may be re-routed inside the vehicle in accordance with MSA technical regulations and aircraft type flexible lines are recommended. The handbrake may be modified to be of the fly-off type but hydraulic operation is not allowed. The standard pedal box must be retained without modification.

6 Page 6 of 8 Suspension The vehicle must be fitted with standard Mini Subframes which may be strengthened but NOT lightened Rubber suspension cones are mandatory but the hardness is free Adjusta-ride suspension is permitted Poly bushes are permitted Dampers must conform to MSA historic regulations. Their mounting points must remain as standard. Mini Sport recommend the use of Bilstein Dampers and can be purchased from Mini Sport. All modern type dampers with remote cylinders or other 3 way control are forbidden as are coil over units. Anti-roll bars are not permitted Front fixed negative camber arms & adjustable tie rods are permitted (rose jointed type are not permitted) Rear adjustable camber & tracking brackets are permitted but must be welded up after set up so they become non-adjustable Steering rack must remain standard (quick racks are not permitted) Interior Seats and belts are free but must comply with MSA regulations Dashboard is free Steering wheel is free Gear lever must remain in its original position, a quick shift is permitted

7 Page 7 of 8 Exterior A sumpguard is included in the safety kit Group 2 rally wheel arch extensions are permitted Mud flaps to MSA regulations are mandatory Sponsors decals must be displayed as detailed in the HRCR old STAGER Championship regulations Auxiliary spot lamps of a period type are free but must comply with MSA regulations. Gas discharge or LED type lights or lamp pods are forbidden. Wheels & Tyres The Yokohama A032 or A /70R10 will be the only tyres permitted and will be supplied to Mini Cup competitors by Mini Sport at competitive prices.
