2 Crewcut Diamond Products Ltd Crewcut Diamond Products Ltd was established in 2004 by Graham Crewe in association with John Russell. All Crewcut s premium professional products are manufactured at Deudiam GmBH in Germany. Although a young company, Crewcut s main principals, Graham and John, share between them over 60 years of experience in the manufacture and sale of diamond machinery and tooling for use in the construction and stone industries. The combination of Crewcut s expertise in the latest bond and diamond technology with Deudiam s modern manufacturing facilities ensures that all our products give the optimum result in terms of performance and tool life, the two most important factors for the professional user. The range of quality professional and resale products are intended for use in floor and wall sawing, hand-held power tools, grooving and grinding, floor preparation, wire sawing and core drilling. They can be used to cut concrete, asphalt, brickwork, any type of hard refractory material and a wide range of natural stone from marble to the hardest granite. In addition to its range of professional diamond tooling, Crewcut also supplies core drilling machines together with motors and power packs, from companies such as Shibuya, DR Bender and Cedima. All of these are supported by a full maintenance and repair service. From its operational base at Berwick, East Sussex, products are supplied from stock on a next day basis to anywhere in the UK. Non-standard items can also be manufactured on a made to order basis in the minimum of time. In its relatively short career, Crewcut has established itself as a key supplier to some of the major diamond drilling and sawing contractors in the south east of England, and is rapidly expanding its operations elsewhere in the UK. 3 Wet Drill User Information Professional Thin Wall Core Drills To ensure the maximum performance from your Crewcut Diamond Core Drills the following rotational speeds and coolant flows are recommended. COOLANT FLOW LITRES/MIN Dia mm Flow l/min These drills are designed to work with coolant. Insufficient water will shorten drill life and can result in segment loss on brazed bits. When drilling through reinforcement maintain coolant flow and keep a steady pressure on the drill bit. When using small diameter drills maintain a steady but not excessive pressure as they are not so robust as larger sized drills. Make sure the rig is mounted securely and ensure there is not excess play on the rig. Crewcut Professional Thin Wall Core bits have been developed for use on a wide range of reinforced concrete. Specially developed for the UK market they offer strong performance and good life on both rig and hand held operations. 5 Wet Blade User information Professional Diamond Floorsaw Blades SOME WET CUTTING DO S AND DONT S DO ensure that there is an adequate water supply to both sides of the blade. DO ensure the blade is cutting parallel to the wheel axis. DO follow the manufacturers recommended pulley sizes and operating speeds for specific blade diameters. DO ensure that the drive belts are correctly tensioned so that all the available power is transmitted to the blade. DO ensure the blade cheek plates are clean and flat and the same size. DON T force the blade onto the shaft or mount the blade on an undersized shaft. DON T use paper washers to pack out the blade cheek plates. DON T operate the machine without a blade guard or with a damaged or open one. DO check the blade regularly for signs of cracking or undercutting on the steel centre and segments which can result in premature segment loss. Damaged or incorrectly fitted tools can cause serious injury. ALWAYS wear the correct personal safety equipment including head, ear and eye protection, gloves and safety footwear. 8 Dry Drill User information Professional Diamond Dry Core Drills Use at least an 850 watt percussion drill fitted with a clutch for safety with variable speed control if possible. Pilot Drill the wall first with a 13mm (1/2 ) masonry drill. Then follow through with the diamond core drill fitted with a guide rod to start the hole. Remove the guide rod once the drill has started the hole. Hammer action must not be used when drilling with the diamond core drill. Use the machine at between 900 and 1300rpm. The harder the brick and the larger the core drill the slower the speed. Faster rotational speeds do not necessarily mean better penetration rates. Make sure the chuck is tightened before drilling. Make sure that the debris is cleared at regular intervals. A build up of debris will cause jamming, overheating, extensive clutch wear and possible damaged drills. Rotate the core bit when entering and exiting the hole. Try to keep the bit square on to the hole while drilling, to avoid jamming. Don t force the bit let it do the work. This will prolong the life of the bit and reduce breakages. If the bit starts to vibrate reduce pressure. Treat your bit with respect don t put a wrench on it to remove it from the adaptor. Always wear the appropriate safety equipment. 9 Dry Blade User Information Professional Diamond Dry Blades SOME DRY CUTTING DO S AND DONT S DO read the information on the label regarding max recommended speed and safety instructions, and make sure the blade is the correct specification for the material being cut. DO ensure that the arrow on the blade corresponds to the direction rotation of the machine. DO ensure that fitting is carried out by a competent person. DO check that the flanges are clean and the same size before mounting the blade. DO check that the machine bearings and the blade arbor are not worn and that the blade runs true before use. DO make sure the bore size is the correct one for the machine, never fit a blade with an oversize bore to machine. DO use the correct blade guard for the machine. DO N0T use the blade for side grinding. Avoid tilting the blade when cutting.
