2 THE POLLARD BROTHERS STORY Pollard Brothers was founded by brothers Henry and Bert Pollard in 191. Civil and Mechanical Engineer graduates from the University of Illinois, Henry and Bert returned to the Chicago area after serving in the US Army during World War I. Drawing on their education and experience they sought to manufacture a more substantial workbench leg for the field and factory. Their knowledge and work ethic led to a nationwide reputation for the reliability and strength of their lifetime steel crafted equipment. The cornerstone of the Pollard product line has always been the 00 Series Work Bench Leg, which is as reliable today, some eight decades after its inception as it was in 191. From small manufacturers to institutions like the United States Armed Forces, factories and warehouses nationwide were lined with these Arc-Welded Angle Iron Bench Legs by the mid 190s. An expanded product line was developed, evolving into a dozen product categories and hundreds of individual styles. Shortly after serving in the US Army during World War II Bill Hein, Henry Pollard s son-in-law, and Bob Moller, Bill s longtime friend, joined the company. Bill handled production while Bob handled sales. A new manufacturing facility was built on the present site, including a warehouse, allowing Pollard Brother s Mfg to stock a substantial amount of products for quick and easy shipment. Over the following four decades Bill and Bob molded and expanded the Pollard Brothers name and product line by adding and refining items like Machine Tables, Storage Racks, Shop Stools, Stock Carts, plus Open Leg, Cabinet and Heavy Duty Plate Top Workbenches. In addition, Bill and Bob developed Pridecraft, a division of Pollard Brothers, to manufacture affordable and dependable workbenches and workbench legs for the home work shop and garage. In the 1980s Steve Hein, Bill Hein s son, continued the family tradition, and his brother Will Hein joined the company in the 1990s. Steve and Will were able to streamline the production line, leading to the finest quality product at the best possible price. They also increased Pollard Brothers reach; taking the Pollard name from regional and national recognition to worldwide requested whenever and wherever strong, dependable lifetime Steel Crafted Equipment is needed. Presently, Steve Hein s sons, Jason and Nathan Hein, carry on this Fourth Generation family business. Pollard Brother s full line of steel crafted equipment is now sold across the globe, through distributors and designers alike. Machinery vibration and load should be taken into separate consideration when selecting your bench or table. On trucks and carts, capacity ratings are governed by the recommended load capacity per caster listed by the caster manufacturer. Each load rating is based upon a manual operation of to 5 mph over even floors. This approach, coupled with Pollard s rugged construction, provides maximum performance and safety for the operator. 4 OPEN LEGWORKBENCHES Pollard s Open Leg Workbenches utilize Style 00 arc welded bench legs(pg. 6), and Style 09 stringer(pg. 7). Style 07 Lower shelves(pg. 7), and Style 10 Back and Style 1 End Plates(Pg. 7) are optional. The standard Leg Heights are 0, ¼, or 5. Special heights are available upon request. Adjustable height legs are available in two standard ranges, 0-6 and 6-4. Add the thickness of the bench top to the height of the leg to calculate the overall working height of the bench benches are equipped with three legs. COMPOSITE HARD TOP BENCHES The 1¾ composite hard top features a tough mar and soil resistant surface that can accommodate the heaviest and messiest of projects without showing signs of wear and tear.
