3 EVENT INSTRUCTIONS Thanks again for your entry for our Track Day. We are looking forward to welcoming you to Snetterton Race Circuit. The venue will be open from 07:15am. On Arrival Please park your vehicles in the paddock and proceed to signing on in the Control Tower Office which is situated in the corner of the Paddock. Drivers Signing On Signing On will commence at 07:30am. Please note ALL drivers will need to produce for inspection their DVLA Drivers Licence (NB. no licence means no track time and no refund). You will need to produce the photo card part of your licence (the paper counterpart is no longer required), older paper only licences are accepted as well. In the case of an international licence it must have a photo and clearly indicate that the holder is qualified to drive that class of vehicle. If you are unable to produce this for any reason contact the Javelin Office on ASAP. Please allow yourself plenty of time to sign on. All Drivers forms and Passenger forms are attached to this . Car & Driver Identity We will issue you with a car identity sticker that should be attached to the front windscreen or nearside front headlight glass. The Pit Lane Marshal will need to see it and the cars occupants wristbands each time you enter the track. Garages Reserved garages will be locked and signed accordingly. Unless you have reserved a garage do not set up in or block any garages until you have checked with an organiser. On arrival please park behind your garage and find a member of staff to unlock it for you. Please note :- No more than one 25 litre fuel container can be stored in any one garage (whether it be full or empty). Legally this equates to the maximum 50 litres of fuel inside any two joined garages. Empty containers must not be stored inside the garages Noise Cars will be required to not exceed a maximum sound emissions test of 105dBA. Measured at 45 degrees, 0.5 metres distant from each exhaust outlet at three quarters of maximum engine revs. All cars must be noise tested prior to being allowed on circuit. Noise Testing will be carried out in the area at the rear of the Fuel Pumps from 7.30 onwards. Snetterton has also introduced a Drive By limit of 92dba at trackside. Whilst this will not cause problems for any sensibly silenced cars any vehicle exceeding this limit may be black flagged and required to take remedial action prior to being allowed back on track. Safety Briefing and Sighting Laps Please ensure you read and understand the attached General Notes. All drivers must attend a Safety Briefing and complete a number of sighting laps. Times are shown on the attached timetable. Following the Briefing you will be issued with a second wristband, acceptance signifies that you have understood all aspects of the General Notes and the briefing. The Safety Briefing will be held at 08.30am Location will be notified at Signing on, Please note if you miss this briefing you will lose a significant amount of Track Time Sighting laps will take the form of 2 full laps and return to the Paddock via the Circuit Exit road on the third. Please be PREPARED & READY to complete your sighting laps at the allotted time (see timetable). Additional Drivers may travel in the front passenger seat (if available) for sighting laps. NB If not ready at the allotted time you will lose a significant amount of track time.
4 Open Pit Lane This basically means that once you have attended the Safety Briefing and completed your Sighting Laps you will be allowed access to the circuit at any time during the day. A limit to the number of cars on circuit at any one time will be set and adhered to. Please remember that Open Pit Lane does mean that there is a diverse mixture of driver experience and vehicle power and handling characteristics on track at the same time. We expect you to drive and show consideration accordingly. Fuel Super Unleaded Fuel (ron 97) will be available at the circuit pumps throughout the day. If this fuel is not suitable for your needs please fetch sufficient for your needs or you will need to leave the venue to source supplies. If you have to refuel from cans these must be indelibly marked with a statement of contents. Please take extreme care whilst refuelling and only refuel when it is safe to do so. Additional Drivers and Passengers Additional Drivers and Passengers are 30 and 10 respectively. It is strongly recommended that all passengers attend the safety briefing in order that they are familiar with the circuit safety procedures in place. In the event of non attendance it is the drivers responsibility to ensure all their passengers are aware of what to do in the event of an incident / breakdown on circuit. Passengers will need to report to the Javelin Paddock Office and complete a Javelin Indemnity form. The minimum age for passengers is 16 years. Passengers under the age of consent will require parental and Motor Sport Vision Ltd management consent. Please ask for details at the Javelin Office. 5 GENERAL NOTES FOR PARTICIPANTS ON CAR TRACK DAYS PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME TO READ THESE NOTES BEFORE TAKING PART IN ANY ACTIVITY Welcome Briefing Track Safety Please make sure you have signed a Javelin Trackdays Ltd registration form. A full safety briefing will take place with a representative from the organising party and the Control Tower Supervisor (CTS) for the day. Please ensure you attend this briefing. Should you arrive too late, please report to a member of the organisers or the Control Tower Supervisor, who will be based in the Control Tower, where arrangements will be made for you to be individually briefed. On track we use certain flags to signal to all drivers. When you are on your sighting laps on track please familiarise yourself with the position of the marshal posts. The following are the types of flags you will see: Waved Yellow Danger ahead, possibility of an incident or hazard, reduce your speed by 50% (check mirrors first) and no overtaking. Full course Yellow flags may be used at the discretion of the CTS. Red Yellow & Red Striped Black Chequered Incident has occurred and the session has been stopped. Please instantly reduce speed by 50% (check mirrors first), pull over to the right to allow recovery vehicles to pass and return to the pit lane. NO OVERTAKING There is a spillage on track or change in the track surface or condition, i.e. oil, mud, debris, etc. Reduce speed and take caution. There is a possible problem with your vehicle i.e. damaged bodywork, losing fluid, etc. It could also mean that we need to discuss an aspect of your driving. Please return to the pits immediately and report to a marshal. This signifies the end of the session, please reduce your speed and return to the pits at the end of your lap. Blue The vehicle behind is trying to overtake - please drive on the right hand side of the circuit. Pit Lane Notes Please note the pit lane is strictly one way as is the track. The pit lane speed limit is 30mph max. The pit lane must be kept clear between the yellow line and the pit wall to allow emergency vehicle access. Only people taking part in the current session are allowed in the pit lane. Please do not sit on the pit wall. Please do not re-fuel or smoke in the pit lane. Children under 16 are not allowed in the pit lane or the garages Venue Notes Speed limit at the Venue is 10mph. Anyone reported driving recklessly or dangerously will be escorted from the venue.
6 Track Notes On entering the circuit keep to the right hand side and do not move over until the circuit behind you is clear. Use the first few laps to warm up your tyres and familiarise yourself with the marshal posts, etc. Consider other drivers - Leave plenty of space when you overtake other cars. OVERTAKING is on the LEFT ONLY. Use your mirrors regularly and if you see faster traffic behind you, move over to the right and let the other vehicle(s) pass on the left. TYRE NOISE AND DRIVING STANDARDS. Any driver generating excessive, unnecessary or constant tyre squeal or is deemed to be driving recklessly or in a manner considered to endanger themselves or other track users will be black flagged, removed from the track and given a warning that such driving is inappropriate. If the driver continues to give cause for concern a second black flag will be given to once again remove that driver from the circuit and he/she will be removed from the track and denied further access to the track for the rest of the day. Deliberate and excessive power slides will be dealt with in exactly the same way. In case of an incident, leave your vehicle and move to a safe position behind the barriers. If you see an incident do not stop the circuit staff will deal with it. Anyone who ignores red flags or the direction of marshals will be asked to leave the venue the marshals are there for YOUR SAFETY. No hand held video cameras are allowed in vehicles. Anybody wishing to film at the circuit will need prior permission. No timing or data logging equipment is allowed. Safety All crash helmets worn by drivers and passengers must comply with current MSA standards (BSI 6658 Type A minimum). Helmets must be worn and securely fastened at all times whilst on circuit. Seat belts or harnesses must be worn at all times on the circuit. Arms and legs must be covered whilst on circuit. If you have any problems with any other drivers on the day, please report to the organisers or the CTS. The medical car has a paramedic on board and may join the circuit at any point. Please be aware that the medical car has the right of way on the circuit and will overtake on the left so please move over to the right.
7 PRE EVENT VEHICLE SAFETY CHECKLIST Always remember Motor Sport Can Be Dangerous It makes sense to minimise the risk When you participate in this event you will be required to sign an indemnity form upon which you make the declaration that the vehicle you are using is in a safe condition for high speed circuit use. Whilst we will not be scrutineering vehicles we always reserve the right to deny circuit access to any vehicle we consider to be a risk to the occupants or other track users. We suggest that you carry out these few simple checks to make your day safer and ultimately more enjoyable. Sort any problems found prior to participating. Brakes Check fluid levels. Check for excessive pedal travel and investigate cause if found. Check thickness of linings. If they require renewal it is best to do this well in advance and ensure pads etc are bedded in prior to taking to the circuit. Wheels & Tyres Remove wheel trims if fitted. Check condition and suitability. Check pressures. Check wheel nuts are tightened. Seats and Seat Belts Check condition and that mountings are secure. Suspension and Steering Check suspension for condition and operation. Check for play in joints, linkages, bushes etc. Investigate any noises or play in wheel bearings. Engine Bay Check Engine Oil and Coolant Fluid levels (DO NOT OVERFILL) Check condition of hoses and any pipework. Check for and correct fluid leakages. Electrics Check battery is securely mounted and terminals are covered by an insulating material. Check wiring for condition and potential chafing, short circuits etc. Check Wipers for condition and operation. Check lights for operation. Fuel Check for and rectify any leaks. Check Filler cap for security and seal. DO NOT overfill the tank (This is a particular problem with Kit Cars). DO NOT underfill the tank ( running out of fuel on circuit will stop that session for everyone and result in you being denied any further circuit access for the rest of the day) Bodywork Must be in a sound condition with no sharp edges or dangerous protrusions. Both internally and externally. Roll Over protection is advisable in any vehicle used on a circuit but is strongly recommended for all open top or non permanently fixed roof type vehicles. Remove all loose or non permanently secured objects from the vehicle Security Devices, Door Locks, Immobilisers etc Ensure these are set to allow unimpeded use and access to the vehicle whilst in the assembly area or on circuit. Safety The carrying of an adequately secured, readily accessible and fully charged AFFF type Fire Extinguisher of a minimum 1.75 litres is recommended. All limbs must be covered whilst on circuit. The wearing of flame retardant clothing is recommended.
