(a) The board may make general policies and shall authorize the chancellors to adopt rules regulating the parking of motor vehicles on property under their jurisdiction. Such rules shall not be subject to ch (b) The board shall establish fines for the violation of any rule made under par. (a). The institutions are authorized to collect such fines together with moneys collected from the sale of parking permits and other fees established under par. (a), to be used only for the purpose of developing and operating parking or other transportation facilities at the institution at which collected and for enforcing parking rules under par. (a). 4 Board of Regents Policy 19-2 All future parking and transportation-related related capital budget projects shall be in compliance with the provisions of (8e), (8m) and (5), created by Chapter 221, Laws of 1979, as follows:sec (8e) PARKING FEES. The Board shall direct each institution within the System to charge a parking fee for the parking of motor vehicles by students, faculty, academic and classified staff and visitors at campus. The Board shall require the fee to be sufficient to recover the costs of the construction and maintenance necessary for the parking facilities. Nothing in this paragraph shall be deemed to require the recovery of the costs of land for parking facilities. Nothing in this paragraph shall be deemed to require that all users of the parking facilities be charged a parking fee. College campus facilities owned by a county are not required to charge a parking fee. 4
5 Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety September 28, :30 am BILL NOVAK The Capital Times A UW-Madison student riding a bicycle collided with a moped Thursday afternoon on a downtown street, sending the bicyclist to the hospital with head injuries. The crash was reported at 5:20 p.m. in the 600 block of North Frances Street, the Madison Police Department stated in a news release. The 21-year-old female student on the bike was not wearing a helmet. "She was pedaling down a steep driveway and entered the street when her bike struck the back of a moped, causing her to fall to the pavement," said spokesman Joel DeSpain. The moped was being driven by a 20- year-old male UW-Madison student. He was not injured. No citations were issued. 5
