11 What is GDL State Graduated Driver Licensing Laws To help teenagers gain important driving skills Control the permitting and licensing process

12 Teen Driving Restrictions Passengers (some exceptions) First 6 months No one under 21 After the first 6 months One passenger under 21. Only one passenger in front seat.

13 Teen Driving Restrictions Seat Belts All passengers must wear seatbelts. Cell Phones No cell phone usage while driving if under 18. No texting at any age. Curfews No driving from midnight to 5 a.m. Exceptions require signed statement. (work or school)

16 Civil Liability Civil awards can force the family to pay for medical expenses of victims. Compensate families of victims. Civil liability can also award other damages. Results All family assets confiscated, income garnished for as long a necessary to pay award. (Family left enough money to live at the poverty level.)
