Safety messages GENERAL CONDITIONS OF USE This implement has been designed and produced to move forage that has previously been cut and form windrows or turn the forage for airing if and when necessary. It is suitable as an implement for tractors of adequate horse power and weight. This machine may not be used for any other applications other then those mentioned above. The choice of the implement must be made within the limits accepted by the tractor manufacturer based on weight and dimensions as per the chart "Technical Specifications" to be found on page 21 of this manual. This implement does not have devices to switch off the tractor engine, therefore many safety functions are to be actioned on the tractor, which must comply with all safety regulations actually in force. This implement must be used only in adeguate day light or adeguate lighting must be supplied from the tractor directly onto the implement and its immediate surroundings. The operator of this implement must be in good physical and psychological conditions and in particular must be able to turn around freely to control that nobody is within 10 meters of the implement. The operator must always be in a position to switch off the tractor engine and disengage the PTO in the case of an emergency. When he starts working he must decide which is the quickest and easiest way to stop the tractor engine in case of an emergency. When working on inclined land adhere strictly to instructions given by the tractor manufacturer so as not to overturn the tractor. Anyhow, reduce the speed and manoeuvre with caution; work preferably from the top to the bottom or viceversa; make sure that there is adequate adhesion between the terrain and the tractor wheels. PARTS INTERCHANGEABILITY All TONUTTI rakes have standard parts that are interchangeable between them (wheels, arms, heads). The "2P" rakes has been designed so that the single "P" hay rakes can become a double "V" rake by simply adding a toolbar frame. This solution has the following advantages: If you already own a Tonutti hay rake model P4 - P5 - P6 all you have to do is purchase another rake of the same model, but a left hand rake and a toolbar frame and you have a "V" rake model 2P4-2P5-2P6. Owning a Tonutti "V" hay rake model 2P you have 2 rakes in one and can use as follows during working operations: You can rake with just the right hand rake if necessary You can rake with just the left hand rake if necessary You can rake with both the right hand and left hand rakes together 02 P1-P4-P5-P6

Rake adjustments ADJUSTMENTS CAUTION: Before proceeding to make any adjustments on the finger wheel rake, be sure to place the tractor transmission in park and/or lock the brakes, to shut off the engine and, to remove the ignition key and take it with you before leaving the tractor seat. GROUND PRESSURE NOTE: Proper finger wheel pressure on the ground is an important factor for achieving clean raking. Too much pressure will cause undue stress on the finger wheel tines and cause unnecessary dirt and thrash to be brought into the windrow. Finger wheel to ground pressure is a factor of how far the tractor lower links descend. Some tractors are equipped with a control lever down-stop to limit the lever travel. On tractors which do not have this type of limit stop, limit chains should be purchased separately and used to prevent exceeding the predetermined lower travel limit. Limit chains may also be useful for tractors with faulty hydraulic system that leak-down when hydraulic system power is removed. Arm Moveable Head Moveable Head Pin Main Frame Transport (storage) Latch 12 P1-P4-P5-P6
Hookup, transport, unhooking TRANSPORTING - Before transporting the rake, clean out any crop and chaff that has become trapped between the rake tines and the frame.then raise into the transport position. WARNING: Serious injury or death could occur if rake arms collide with vehicles or fixed objects during transport. UNHOOKING WARNING: Use the Normal Shutdown Procedure section when unhooking Implement. Park the implement on level ground. Lower implement. Prepare implement for season storage : - Remove dirt and crop from implement. Paint exposed metal to inhibit rusting. - Lubricate grease points on the machine. - Coat exposed hydraulic cylinder rod(s) with grease to prevent rusting. - Check hydraulic hoses for deterioration and replace if necessary. - Tighten any loose bolts, nuts and hydraulic fittings. - Repair or replace worn or broken parts. - Replace damaged or missing decals. 13 P1-P4-P5-P6
Raking RAKING NOTE: Before attempring to operate eighter model Rake, BE SURE that the Transport (Storage) Latch is disengaged. Normally the finger wheels are all positioned to overlap each other as shown. The cut material is raked from right to left. The main frame can be adjusted to any one of three positions to obtain three different raking widths as well as to accomodate different crop and field conditions. After the desired width is estabilished, BE SURE to fix the adjusted position by installing the moveable head pin and locking it with the hair pin cotter pin. As necessary, readjust the ground pressure per the proceding information. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LEFT AND RIGHT "P" RAKES Left "P" rake creates windrow on the right. Right "P" rake creates windrow on the left. 14 P1-P4-P5-P6
Raking SPREADING NOTE: Before attempring to operate eighter model Rake, BE SURE that the Transport (Storage) Latch is disengaged. In a spreading operation, the finger wheels move the crop from right to left separately. In wide swaths, four (for the model P4) or five (for the model P5) smaller widths windrows can be formed from two (or three) large windrows in a single pass. As conditions permit, four or five small swaths can also be spread into four or five small windrows respectively. Most spreading operations are carried-out with the rake width adjusted to positions 1 or 2. NOTE: If it becomes difficult to get the crop out of the rake, reduce the width of the rake by locating the arm in a different hole position in the moveable hesd. ALWAYS drive the tractor and operate the rake in the appropriate direction which enables the finger wheels to work the tops of the crops first. 15 P1-P4-P5-P6
Raking TURNING Note: The following information applies mainly to the P4 finger wheel model. The model P5 can also be used for turning however, the center finger wheel will form a narrower windrow that the pairs of finger wheels on both ends. NOTE: Before attempring to operate eighter model Rake, BE SURE that the Transport (Storage) Latch is disengaged. In the turning operations, the arm is set in position 1 or 2 of the moveable head so that two swaths can be turned at the same time. This process is normally used right after the crop has been spread. Note: ALWAYS drive the tractor and operate the rake in the appropriate direction which enables the finger wheel to work the bottoms of the crop first. 16 P1-P4-P5-P6
Raking ON THE FIELD WITH THE "V RAKE" SPREADING Rotate the main frame and its arms to the right. Lock with the pins. RAKING Rotate the main frame and its arms to the left. Lock with the pins. TURNING Rotate the main frame to the right and the arms to the left. Lock with the pins. 17 P1-P4-P5-P6
Raking DIRECTION OF TRAVEL Raking direction will effect leaf loss and bale formation. For sickle mowed crop, rake in the same direction as mower travel. For rotary mowed crop, rake in opposite direction as mower travel Experimentation may be necessary for best bale formation RAKING SPEED Optimum ground speed will depend on crop being raked, terrain, and tractor horsepower. Reduced ground speed may be necessary for hills or rough terrain. Inexperienced operators should use slower ground speeds and avoid rough or uneven terrain which could lead to tractor tipping or rollover. TROUBLESHOOTING Most raking problems can be traced to travelling too slow or too fast, incorrect ground pressure, or broken or missing tines. Increase ground pressure only enough to pick up crop. 18 P1-P4-P5-P6
Raking WORKING WIDTH NOTE: Windrow widths (A) and (B) are approximate. The working width and windrow width will vary according to the type and quantity of crop being raked. The distance between hoops on rear raking wheels can be used to determine basic windrow width. Actual width depend on crop type, volume, and raking speed. When adjusting with turnbuckle, working width will change. The V-rake models 2P4 2P5 and 2P6 have been studied especially for big balers, therefore, obtaining from these machines the maximum performance possible. In fact, the two single rakes have been attatched to the tool bar frame by means of plates and brackets that can slide horizontally, thusly increasing or diminuishing the working width. WINDROW WIDTH (A) WORKING WIDTH 2P4 WHEEL RAKE (B) 5,45 m (18'2") WORKING WIDTH 2P5 WHEEL RAKE (B) 6,70 m (22'4") WORKING WIDTH 2P6 WHEEL RAKE (B) 8,44 m (28'2") 1,20 TO 1,80 m (4' TO 6') 19 P1-P4-P5-P6
