1 CODIFICATION CONSTRUCTION Commercial dampers of the U range are designed to control or shut off ductworks with airtightness classifi cation going from non-classifi ed to class 4 according to EN1751. The handling and installation of U dampers are easy considering their lightweight and good mechanical resistance. There are suitable for HVAC commercial applications. U range is available in Hygiene version (ISO 846 compliant). 2 HYGIENE OPTION (ISO 846) Each plastic component of U range dampers has been tested according to ISO 846 standard by ILH Berlin laboratory. ISO 846 standard specifi es the methods for determining the deterioration of plastics due to the action of fungi, bacteria and soil microorganisms. U damper with hygiene option is equipped with obturation metal sheets along its periphery for an easier cleanability and maintenance required by the VDI 6022 part 1standard. These metal sheets also prevent any microorganism and dust proliferation in hard-to-reach parts of the damper. Obturation metal sheets Sealant in each angle. 5 PRESSURE LOSSES The following pressure losses (Pa) are given according to the blades opening angle (in ) and air velocity (in m/s). Damper type UWO equipped with gear wheels, opposed blade operation. Air velocity (m/s) Opening angle < < USE LIMITS Opening angle 0 = fully open damper 90 = closed damper They correspond to the difference between the upstream and downstream pressure that dampers of the U range can withstand in closed position according to the blade length Pressure (Pa) Blade length (mm) Maximum operating zone Recommended operating zone We recommend that the differential pressure does not exceed Pa for a -mm long U damper. Beyond the limitation use, construction is possible with intermediate backing. 5
6 REGENERATED NOISE The acoustic performances of our dampers have been tested in an independent laboratory (CTTM) according to ISO 7235:2009 standard. Air flow noise Lw in db ( blades opening angle 30 ) Damper type UWO - blades actuation via gear wheels (opposed blade operation): Air velocity Frequency (Hz) (m/s) Overall Damper type ULO - blades actuation via linkage (opposed blade operation): Air velocity Frequency (Hz) (m/s) Overall Data are given for a damper 500 x 500 mm. From these data, you can calculate the regenerated noise of a damper of different dimensions by applying the formula below for every frequency band: Lw 63 = x log ( S ) 0.25 X 63 = Air fl ow noise for a damper 500 x 500 mm at 63 Hz (in db) for a given air velocity => read the data in the table S = Damper section (in m 2 ). Lw 63 = Air fl ow noise required at 63 Hz (in db) for a given air velocity. Example Calculation of regenerated noise for a damper UWO 400 x 200 mm Damper section : S = 0.4 x 0.2 = 0.08 m 2 Calculation of the regenerated noise at 63Hz for an air velocity of 4 m/s: Lw 63 = log ( 0.08 ) = 40.8 db 0.25 Value in the table at a frequency of 63Hz and for an air velocity of 4 m/s. Repeat this calculation rules to get the regenerated noise for all frequencies (63Hz - 8kHz). 6
7 MOTOR TORQUES The following motor torques are given in Nm for a volume control damper type UWO or ULO. A coefficient of 1.3 must be applied to the mentioned data for an G, S or E type damper.
